Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

No I don’t sorry, I didn’t send off a lot of information just a diagnosis letter for his ADHD and obviously the school wrote on the form aswell then just the council letter to say they are going to assess him for an EHCP nothing really that tells them much.

@Nikkita32 hi they will probably give your doctor a quick call if you didn’t send in the evidence, if I were you I’d send it then ask the school to print it that’s what I did :)

Nikkita32 · 27/01/2022 11:53

I just spoke to them and we’ve been awarded middle rate care! Such a relief

@Nikkita32 hey my eldest has asd adhd dyspraxia and a few more things

we are still awaiting a diagnosis at 8 its been a nightmare hes on a iep but school senco is very lazy although head teach has now given her a kick up them bum and asking why this hasnt been already done , but back to topic i sent no evidence only gave the occupational therapist info and he got awarded mrc and lrm for 2 years , i have just recently sent off for my youngets claim for his congenital heart disease and awaiting a decision although hes had his open heart surgery hes facing some new difficulties which are being investigated he struggels to walk far nearly 4 and still needs a buggy is up numerous times in the night to be fed changed ect but you never quiet no what they will decide they recived ours on the 4th of dec got a letter today saying they are sorry ect and i shall hear soon last time i got this letter a payment went in my account the following Tuesday but god knows

Charlie201526 · 27/01/2022 19:27

Hi,
I know it really does depend on the schools SENCO and how on it they are. I know my sons school was marked down in this area just before he started there didn’t think much of it though tbh. But because of this they seem to be really active and trying to improve which was lucky for my son.

I have only got a diagnosis of ADHD atm but he has learning difficulties he is in year 2 and is working at a reception level and is falling further and further behind needing constant adult support which is why the EHCP is hopefully going to help.

We had also looking into other diagnosis of dyslexia maybe due to his learning he is unable to read or write still so think this might be the issue.

I just hope they take what I’ve said and award him as it’s the extra thing I’m sure you know that the extra money can do for them like clubs and maybe a tutor etc I know they don’t really give the money for these kind of things but reality is those are the things would help with self esteem and confidence.

Charlie201526 · 28/01/2022 20:46

Goldenbunny · 29/01/2022 18:21

I sent dd's renewal was received by them on 14th November her award run out on 23rd January and we have not heard anything yet. Will see if her DLA payment goes in next week. We never received her form until the first week in November.
My husband called them last week to ask what was happening but he never got a proper answer from them.

brightdaysahead · 30/01/2022 09:10

Hi all,

Our application was received on the 9th November and we got a payment on the Thursday and the confirmation letter on Friday. So around 11.5 weeks in the end. Hope you all hear back soon!

Lea010809 · 30/01/2022 11:29

Hi @brightdaysahead what was the date you got payment

Charlie201526 · 30/01/2022 11:42

Ahh ok it’s 11 weeks for my on Tuesday coming so maybe another week of waiting for me then. Seems like if you do get the green light the payment follows quite quick so that’s good 👍🏻

Charlie201526 · 30/01/2022 17:39

@Abwill I sent his application in on the 8th November and then they scanned it on 16th so then I received a letter At 8weeks from the 16th saying they were sorry it was taking so long. X

CoffeeFirstPlease · 31/01/2022 05:48

I sent my form in December scanned on the 21st December. I sent it with no evidence other than the school filling out the section. I now have her report is it too late to send it? do I need to call to tell them I'm sending in evidence? Also does anyone have the address I need to send it to?

Charlie201526 · 31/01/2022 07:17

@coffefirstplease I would definitely send it you should have time, I sent extra evidence in at around 7 weeks. I called to tell them they gave me the address over the phone.

Make sure you write on the evidence child’s full name DOB and new claim. This is what the told me to do unless you have child’s reference number.
