Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

kitamummy3 · 19/02/2022 16:39

Mine has bin 11 weeks since I got the form sent to me but mine got sent back to me on the second of February because I forgot to sign the declaration at the end and now saying I got to wait another 8 to weeks to get my decision

LightfoldEngines · 19/02/2022 17:34

There was nothing wrong with my form and it still took that long! No idea if it’s regional or not, I’m in the East Mids.

Hi all!we sent off a new claim back in December they received it 13th Dec. O have phoned a couple of times since to add a few bits of further info on. They've told me the first time I rang wait times were up to 12 weeks then last time i phoned we were looking at 10 weeks. We are currently at 10 weeks monday and still are yet to have a decision made! Fingers crossed to hear something soon every one!

Sjf1398 · 20/02/2022 11:30

@Ade88 mine was received day after yours, I rang at 8 weeks and was told 10-11 week wait, hopefully not much longer for us

Ade88 · 20/02/2022 13:30

Fingers crossed!:) keep me posted if you hear something!the lady I spoke to said they were currently training decision makers up too in order to get through the back log!

whereonthestair · 20/02/2022 15:34

Does anyone know how to renew a blue badge while waiting for the DLA renewal? I have not got proof of the DLA renewal because well they have only had it 8 weeks, but funnily enough my sons life long disability requiring him to use a wheelchair hasn't improved.

Abwill · 20/02/2022 16:54

Im guessing speak to the local council who issues it, im presuming they wpuld extend the badge till new award comes through looking at your childs circumstances x

CoffeeFirstPlease · 21/02/2022 09:30

I called today just to confirm they received the extra evidence and they said that it will probably take another 10-14days for a decision so hopefully by next week Friday fingers crossed. My claim was scanned on the 21.12 for reference.

Abwill · 21/02/2022 10:57

I called this morning we got turned down the guy said it looks on the basis i sent no actual evidence but i thought sending all out cardiologist and epilepsy clinics details they wouldnt contact them , very fustrated as the dm stated although it is clear son gets breathless and in pain he is not virtually unable to walk because he can walk normally for 50 to 200 m also that because he sleeps in my room for all his night car needs that rules out that anyone needs to see to him because hes already in my room which is baffeling as i can to change bedding make food im the middle of the night due to him sleeping through meal times the lot its very baffeling the man was very helpful and surjested if i gave evidence that nursery give him extra help that it could be positive

Sjf1398 · 21/02/2022 11:32

@Abwill sorry to hear it wasn’t good news, will nursery write that statement for you? Hopefully they will and you can appeal their decision

Sjf1398 · 21/02/2022 11:35

@CoffeeFirstPlease thanks for the update with the timescale! Mine was the week before, so going by what you’ve been told I’m guessing a week for myself if they stick to it

Abwill · 21/02/2022 11:39

I am hoping so his key worker also has a similar heart condition so is fabulous at knowing about his needs as is her mum who also works with my son , i just dont like to ask because you almost feel like your judged for claiming dla i no they wouldnt judge at all but i cant help feeling that way x

Sjf1398 · 21/02/2022 11:44

@Abwill I know exactly how you feel, I was the same way I put off asking each drop off but finally bit the bullet when I knew we’d have a much better chance of a positive outcome. After all the worrying about being judged the teacher just said “yeah of course just leave the form with me and I’ll get it back to you”🤦‍♀️😂 x

LightfoldEngines · 21/02/2022 12:45

Oh for goodness sake I’m so cross for you!

DLA phoned ME and asked who’s best to talk to about DD, I gave them the number for the MH nurse at our GP surgery (it was actually on the forms but never mind Hmm) and luckily he was in that day and answered as soon as they rang, then I got another call back to say we’d been awarded it.

Absolutely appeal, they haven’t done their job properly.

PIP did the same with me - didn’t bother contacting anyone from my medical team!

CoffeeFirstPlease · 21/02/2022 12:57

@Abwill sorry to hear that I would definitely do a mandatory reconsideration and send in any you have.

@Sjf1398 your welcome! Hopefully it's good news for you. I had another read through of my daughters report and I just don't feel like it's going to be enough but I guess time will tell

MummyOfBoys2022 · 22/02/2022 10:21

@Ade88 hi I called today and my application was received 13th December same as yours and the women on the phone told me that they are working up to the 12th December and that it should be with the decision maker and get a decision by the end of the week

Ade88 · 22/02/2022 10:26

That's great news the closer we get the more anxious I am getting so I really hope we hear soon!🤞🤞

MummyOfBoys2022 · 22/02/2022 10:43

@Ade88 I know it's such a long wait, all I've done is feel anxious, worrying if I've sent enough evidence

J84b04j23 · 22/02/2022 11:29
