Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

@Twinmummyanda6yearold wow that sounds like you've done a brilliant job. I did include his 2 autism assessments, SLT review, behavioural specialist review, portage early years support plan.

Cost me a bomb to print at the mail shop!!

Twinmummyanda6yearold · 12/04/2022 14:42

@elidelochanthefirst well it's hard with her only being 3 as I haven't got that much medical evidence as of yet but so I'm hoping my notes will explain a little more about everything.. I can imagine! It will hopefully all be worth it 🤞🏼 at least we can wait together 😁

elidelochanthefirst · 12/04/2022 14:46

Yes, it's a lot of pressure worrying if we included everything! My boy is 3 too!

Does it vary by borough or is the wait the same for all?

Do they back date payments to when it was stamped?

Ltb17 · 12/04/2022 14:54

It's the same for all areas, they backdate it from when you asked for the form as long as you sent it back within the stated time frame.
By the way, you both sent in more evidence than myself and my boy was awarded hrc. Good luck to you both

elidelochanthefirst · 12/04/2022 14:56

Thank you @Ltb17 that's really helpful.

Does anyone know about the carer allowance? Do you need dla to apply for that?

Ltb17 · 12/04/2022 15:00

You need to be in receipt of a disability benefit to claim carers allowance, but when you do claim carers allowance can backdate to when you applied for dla

elidelochanthefirst · 12/04/2022 15:03

Thanks again. That's a huge help x

Twinmummyanda6yearold · 12/04/2022 15:11

@Ltb17 oh that's a relief! I've been worrying so much already... my little girl needs care in the night as well as the day (she can live off 4 hours sleep 🤣) and she can't be left unsupervised at all.. is that something you think qualifies for Hrc?

Naomis121 · 12/04/2022 15:27

@Mum2Two91

Does anyone know what dates they are working on for COC?
I was told they were working on the 9th November 2 weeks ago. Mine is 17th January so a long wait for me
Ltb17 · 12/04/2022 15:47

My reason for award said this
"Your child needs constant supervising during the day and substantial supervision during the night, this is the reason we have decided you're entitled to hrc"
They never called and spoke to gp or school just went with the letter from his nursery teacher and the info I wrote on the form, I did send his paediatrician report but by the time they received it they had already awarded him.
All I know is hrc is if they need care during the day and night. I really wasn't expecting hrc

Twinmummyanda6yearold · 12/04/2022 16:03

@Ltb17 sounds very much like that fits my little girl so that's been helpful thank you. I just want to be able to give her a better quality of life, sensory toys, take her different places etc so I'm really hoping for good news 🤞🏼

Vkyjax2022 · 12/04/2022 16:11

Fingers crossed for everyone and children ♥️ still nothing yet and mine was scanned on the 14th feb called them Monday and lady said few more weeks

spicegirl34 · 12/04/2022 16:18

Hi everyone just want to add my bit. My son's claim was received 9 Feb and I've just called for update. Was on hold for an hour and then was told it should go to DM this week or after bank hols, then can take another week. Good luck all x

My little boy is allergic to water so have applied for DLA, my daughter gets it for other medical conditions. How quick are they are relatively unheard of conditions? And are they likely to give DLA again for another child. Thanks

I have 2 on dla and no issues getting it for my 2nd he has a few medical conditions x
2fruitcakekids · 12/04/2022 16:45

Thank you. I worry that due to it being relatively unknown they’ll just leave it sitting and I’m really struggling. I don’t allow access to GP notes as think they should be personal but have supplied all hospital/GP letters.

Ltb17 · 12/04/2022 17:02

No problem, if your claim is successful don't forget about family fund, they are really helpful with getting sensory equipment along with holidays etc

NoWordForFluffy · 12/04/2022 18:10

I'm joining in too! My DS' application was signed for this morning. He was diagnosed with autism in February.

I did really long notes to go alongside the questions, but we only have the diagnosis report, as we haven't had very much support since starting the journey 3 years ago (with the infant school SENCo, who wasn't very helpful, sadly. And then Covid caused delays).

Thankfully DS doesn't really need help at night, other than on a rare occasion, so I wouldn't anticipate getting anything more than MRC and potentially LRM.

Time will tell (I'm the least patient person in the world, mind you!).

Twinmummyanda6yearold · 12/04/2022 18:34

@NoWordForFluffy ours were signed for on the same day so at least we can wait together too😁 I'm so impatient as well haha

Twinmummyanda6yearold · 12/04/2022 18:43

Could I please ask if anyones 3 year old has qualified for mobility either low or high rate? (Being able to physically walk) but classed as 'virtually unable to walk'? Due to needing supervision outdoors/knowing no danger/behaviour is unpredictable etc?

NoWordForFluffy · 12/04/2022 18:45

Was yours signed for at stupid o'clock? Mine was apparently signed for at 5.10am! 😱

I don't know if it's good or bad to have somebody else on the same day as me. 🤣

Does anybody know if where you live has any impact on waiting times? My MiL knows somebody local whose son only waited 4 weeks for his decision recently.

Twinmummyanda6yearold · 12/04/2022 19:32

@NoWordForFluffy No mine was at 1:39pm 🙈🤣 but I did send it at like 5pm last night

Ltb17 · 12/04/2022 20:21

I am currently waiting to hear about my sons mobility for those exact reasons, hoping to know in next couple of weeks, already been waiting 17

PuddlePip · 12/04/2022 21:09

@Victoriacf1984 thank you! I have sent all the same reports etc. I sent the only other thing I have with his mandatory reconsideration which was an independent assessment for his blue badge so fingers crossed he will get it this time. Its getting unbearable to go anywhere with his now he's getting older and stronger as he's 7 now. Mentally preparing myself for a tribunal at this point

RebeccaO2019 · 13/04/2022 06:47
