Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

@Ltb17… we got the HRM - only because of an official diagnosis of ASD “AND” SMI (severe mental impairment). We paid for a Drs letter to state that our DD has an official diagnosis of the above, she also has sensory processing disorder, hyper-mobility and very unpredictable behaviour that has great cause for concerns out n about. She was awarded LRM till we got an official outcome. As soon as u get the official diagnosis, ask for a drs letter on headed paper and stamped, it’s a lot more simple as we had nothing ‘official’ stating SMI, her educational psychologist report and ECHP were not accepted.

@PuddlePip… hi! DD, had her official diagnosis last March but the consultant didn’t write her documentation up before she left the trust, so we had absolutely no ‘official’ documentation, stating she lives with ASD etc. When I called the DLA, the lady said without formal documentation she wouldn’t be granted it. I have EHCP, SALT, OT assessments and diagnosis's but nothing with ASD or her SMI and she said none of the above would qualify as proof. Asked what could make up for this and she said either a GP headed and stamped letter stating child’s name, address and a list of their disabilities and dates these were reported or a paediatrician report! Rang doctors, explained situation, paid £20 and we were emailed a very brief letter stating her disabilities, 3 days later - hope this helps!

Tiasmommy · 11/04/2022 21:44

Hay2222 · 12/04/2022 10:08

Mum2Two91 · 12/04/2022 10:35

Does anyone know what dates they are working on for COC?

Ltb17 · 12/04/2022 11:10

I was told 20 weeks when I phones 2 weeks ago they were working in mid November, mines 16th december

Sarahroccorayne · 12/04/2022 11:32

Sha2022 have you still not heard anything ?

Victoriacf1984 · 12/04/2022 12:15

@Ltb17 there are different processing times for different claims! Change of circumstances is a lot longer! I was told 2 weeks ago it was an 18wk wait, and that they were dealing with 12-19th November change of circumstance requests so I’m ball parking they’re working end of November claims - hopefully not too much longer

Ltb17 · 12/04/2022 12:41

Yes I was talking about change of circumstances, I believe people are getting told all different time frames. I was told to call back first week of May if I haven't heard anything before then. So I'll call 1st May lol

RobynC19 · 12/04/2022 13:18

Does anyone know what day they are currently working on for new claims before I starts the afternoon sitting on hold x

Hay2222 · 12/04/2022 13:20

Twinmummyanda4yearold · 12/04/2022 14:15

Hi, I'm just joining the thread as I've sent off forms and they've been signed for today, my 3 year old has GDD and on the autism pathway.. I know it's going to be a long wait 😔 just something to keep my eye on in the meantime 🤞🏼

elidelochanthefirst · 12/04/2022 14:24

I've sent mine off today too, gosh it took so long to fill in. I also photocopied it in case I need a record of what I wrote. I'm hoping for the higher band as my son has high needs autism.

RobynC19 · 12/04/2022 14:26

I just called and got told they were on the 4th of Feb

Twinmummyanda6yearold · 12/04/2022 14:27

@elidelochanthefirst

I've sent mine off today too, gosh it took so long to fill in. I also photocopied it in case I need a record of what I wrote. I'm hoping for the higher band as my son has high needs autism.
I've included pages and pages of notes to go with all the tick boxes about all the extra care she needs in comparison to her twin sister, a paediatrician report and a SLT report.. I'm just hoping it's enough evidence 🙏🏼🤞🏼
