DLA (new applicants) waiting times

Hello, my forms for DLA (for my son aged 5 with ASD & GDD) were received and put on someone desks on 26th August. This Thursday will be eight weeks exactly and I’m starting to panic a little anyone want to wait with me for their replies?

It too me 3 months to get the initial reply...and now I am trying to appeal

@sa3ida I’m so sorry. That’s rubbish. I’ve heard there are charities out there who can help you appeal so may be worth googling it! Best of luck and hope you win the appeal!

@Stacylouise14 when I rang Xmas eve the lady said to ring back 31st and should of made a decision by then, fingers crossed!

@Stacylouise14 when did you send your claim in ?I got a letter dated 19th December actually got it Xmas eve saying sorry it’s taking long …
First time here but the stress is overwhelming I followed all these threads 😌

@Ljaj when I rang Xmas eve she said they were working on forms recieved upto 16th oct. Mine were recieved 18th oct and got a letter at dead on 8 weeks saying sorry it’s taking so long etc! Hope you hear soon

I called this morning and mine is still not with a decision maker . I’ve been told to expect a decision end of January (forms received 26th October).

They received my forms on the 15th Oct and I had a text 23rd Dec hopefully you will hear soon.

How soon from a decision being made did people’s payments go in? I’ve heard that for most people the first they know is a payment. I never had a text to say my forms were recieved either (just a letter) so not expecting a text about a decision!

I only got a letter too, but I got the text with a decision. Iv still not had my letter or a payment so I’m still non the wiser. Maybe check the bank tomorrow. I honestly think the decision is made they day they actually bother looking at the forms.

@Stacylouise14 have you rang them asking when payment will be in? Hoping it’s tomorrow for you! I’m sure the delay is just cus of Xmas and the bank holidays etc!

@Pugsnotdrugs101 they made my decision on 20th of November and I got payment on the 24th. I didn’t receive the award letter until few days later so if I hadn’t called at 10 weeks to check on the claim first indication I was awarded would have been the payment going into my bank.

@Pugsnotdrugs101 if you can be bother ringing again 😂I rang them weekly from 8 weeks onwards then when it hit 10 weeks it was sorted. I think once new year is out the way claims will be sorted quicker as I bet loads of agents are off for the holiday plus they have been closed with bank holidays. I was waiting for a decision marker getting back to me about the Universal credit disability element payment being hacked dated to start of DLA claim and I was surprised I got letter yesterday with decision and advised payment is going in tomorrow.

@Polly421 I don’t want to just ring and ask for an update as some of them can get really shitty! 😂 I need to find another reason to ring and then sneak in there a little ask about where my claim is up to lol!

I’ve rang a few times but have had to hang up due to being on hold and needing to leave the house. Nightmare.

I had the text to say they’d received it, but I’ve heard nothing since. Not even an apology letter or text.
