Hello, my forms for DLA (for my son aged 5 with ASD & GDD) were received and put on someone desks on 26th August. This Thursday will be eight weeks exactly and I’m starting to panic a little anyone want to wait with me for their replies?

OP posts:
Ljaj · 09/02/2022 20:50

They did tell me 4-5 weeks .

Ljaj · 09/02/2022 20:59

I hope this is all worth this stress for us all . It’s just so not needed we go through enough !!
Then when I read the supporting evidence I actually cried I new my lo struggles but to see it in black and white is heartbreaking then for someone from dla to tell me it’s her age she has no danger awareness she has sensory Processing disorder she is showing traits of Autism which I didn’t know ,that’s not all but won’t go into it but I think I child that struggles
With everyday life should be entitle to help she doesn’t sleep properly and they said I had no supporting evidence of that I literally laughed on the phone and said how do you want me to prove that !! X

4andapup · 09/02/2022 22:27

That's reassuring to hear, thank you both. I'm hoping this time next week I will know either way.
@ljaj I completely agree, my little one has Autism and comorbid ADHD, every day is a struggle. It's heartbreaking doing the forms and finding the evidence to back it up, we just do all this every day without thinking so as you say, seeing it in black and white is tough! It's hard enough that we have to do this but the fact it's been such a long process makes it harder, I feel like I can't settle until I know either way! Xx

Ljaj · 09/02/2022 23:23

I know I totally understand and I’m more hurt that I had to write the ins and outs of my everyday life to explain to some stranger of the struggles of our private life to be told I’m sorry but you don’t qualify. I felt like saying are you serious do you even know what people go through on a daily basis for you too even decide this without even seeing us . I so hope you/we get there then it’s been worth all the stress xxx

@4andapup and @Ljaj I am completely in the same boat as yous are it very Hartbraking when you actually read what help and struggles your children have on a day to day basis x @Ljaj my son has the same problems as you child he also has hypermobilaty wich is very painful for him x i only sent in a letter from the doctor that says my son has 5 different things that are up with him that was the 1st time. but this time I got the school to write a letter for him and when I read what he is like at school I cried. How old is your child mine is almost 11 and was tould the help I give is right for his age bit that they expect he has problems but there's no evidence. I just hope they read everything I sent in this time I even highlighted the letter from the doctors tell them my sons problems. My son has help with 1.1 sanco team at school and has the have a personal safe space becomes his melt downs are that bad he will take a long time to settle down. Let's hope we all get the help that's well needed and that our babys deserves

Ljaj · 10/02/2022 09:02

Yes similar without the hypermobility my child is 8 . If this mr gets refused I will not be taking it any further. 😢

4andapup · 10/02/2022 09:14

Hi everyone, I've just called and spoken to a lovely man. He said they're working on claims from the 1st Feb and MR's are currently taking 2-3 weeks so you should hear soon!
For me... Of course there's something wrong and he's not sure why a decision hasn't been made, on the file it says 'BF' but nothing else in the notes?! I'm not sure what that means but apparently it is with a decision maker 🤔 he says maybe they've sent out for more information from someone but he is emailing the decision maker now to chase up so says I may hear today or tomorrow and if not, to call back on Monday! I just want to know either way 😥 xxx

Sunnyshine12121 · 10/02/2022 10:33

Ljaj · 10/02/2022 11:04

Sunnyshine12121 · 10/02/2022 11:58

@Ljaj @4andapup I can't believe what I am reading have any of you had this letter saying they are looking at all the information I have sent and that it can take up to 11 weeks and to only contact them if we don't have a decision after 11 weeks wow we already waited 18week to be turned down now being to about 11 weeks andd not the contract them until after this time ( it just come in the post this morning)

Sunnyshine12121 · 10/02/2022 11:59

*Tould

Sunnyshine12121 · 10/02/2022 12:03

So not expecting any further updates until 14th of April 😒🤯😴

Ljaj · 10/02/2022 14:57

Oh noooo !! That’s got to be wrong as I have been told it only takes 4-5 weeks x

4andapup · 10/02/2022 15:43

No! We haven't had any letter at all. And as I say on the phone he said it's only taking 2-3 weeks! It's really frustrating when we're all told different things, hopefully you will hear really soon... Imagine the back payment! Surely it is better for them to get them done quicker 🤔 xxx

Sunnyshine12121 · 10/02/2022 20:37

@4andapup @Ljaj this is what I also got tould on phone max 6 weeks but got that letter today dated the 3rd Feb saying it could be 11weeks and not to call I am so confused 😕 and think it's terrible I will see if I can upload the letter tomorrow x

Ljaj · 10/02/2022 21:18

Yes it’s definitely wrong 11 weeks do they even know what the first wait was like for us ??? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Sunnyshine12121 · 10/02/2022 22:44

@Ljaj 1st was 18 weeks then to wait 11 more that's almost 30 weeks about 6 months 🙄😢

Ljaj · 11/02/2022 11:39

@Sunnyshine12121 I waited 8-9 weeks now waiting on mr so we will see how long I didn’t want to ring last time but this time I’m thinking I’m going to be making a few calls x

4andapup · 11/02/2022 12:09

No news here! If I don't hear today I was told to call back Monday. Currently rearranging my house like a mad woman to keep my mind occupied! Good luck everyone xx

Ljaj · 11/02/2022 14:44

@4andapup have you been told it will be today ? Xx

4andapup · 11/02/2022 15:34

Yes he said I should hear yesterday or today! The person who's looking at the claim has been emailed as its gone over their threshold for the time they're supposed to take... But he said call back on Monday if I haven't heard... Looks like that's what I will be doing now as haven't heard 😔 xx

Ljaj · 11/02/2022 16:57

@4 when did you do your mr ? Can’t seem to go back in the thread x

4andapup · 11/02/2022 17:25

11th January xx

Ljaj · 11/02/2022 18:31

Oh so they do seem to be on time then with these reconsiderations … I wish you lots of luck and remember you might hear something tomorrow by the post xx

4andapup · 14/02/2022 09:24

Just braved the call... Decision made on the 10th (he said they're taking 4 weeks as of today)
Low rate mobility and higher rate care!! I'm in shock! Such a long and stressful road but worth it to get my son what he deserves. Don't give up! Fingers crossed for you all xx
