DLA (new applicants) waiting times

Hello, my forms for DLA (for my son aged 5 with ASD & GDD) were received and put on someone desks on 26th August. This Thursday will be eight weeks exactly and I’m starting to panic a little anyone want to wait with me for their replies?

@Ljaj oh so sorry to hear this, how much evidence did you send off if you don’t mind me asking? Have they given the reason why? Make sure you send in what they asking for so hopefully they will award it, good luck and I know it’s not ideal having to wait all over again but keep going, you got this x

I sent no evidence at all because all the appointments and referrals are tied up due to covid 🤦🏻‍♀️ . Also the senco teacher has changed in school so this is another issue . They’ve said all sorts in the phone didn’t mention the night time needs at all . So going to wait for the letter and see if it’s worth a reconsideration.

@Ljaj bless you, daily life can be hard enough as it is without all this added pressure of waiting around and not getting anywhere, but yes definitely read through what they asking for and do what you think is best, I really hope you get the help your child needs with the new senco, good luck with whatever you decide.

@4andapup it can go either way I guess I have sent in what I have and school report and paediatrician etc just the wait is horrible my son has to have 1 to 1 at school and can't be left u supervised at school.or home yes they should have a day in our shoes life is very tuff. X

@Ljaj sorry you haven't had good news after the wait what a disappointment 😕 gutted for you I would definitely appeal it . Can u get a report from school and paediatrician or doctors maybe ? Xx don't give up our children should he entitled to this dla it's very frustrating

I’ve got a report from school already and all the appointment letters I was going to send them in I haven’t received the letter yet they told me over the phone . So I’m wondering if to send them in ?

Do I put myself through all that again or wait because the waiting times for appointments with covid is taking some time .

So has your appointment for paediatrician been cancelled ? Did school support what you had wrote did you get anyone else to fill.in the form like teacher I got my sons school to help x

@ljaj Call back and ask to start a mandotary reconsideration over the phone. They will give you the reason for denial and help you write down your points to dispute, sounds like similar to mine you just didn't back it up with evidence. Literally send everything you have relating to your child, messages from teachers, appointment letters. Get someone you know to write you a statement saying the behaviour they have seen, even if it's a family member. Just as much as you can, don't give up! Good luck xx

Any one had any good news lately ?

The only good news I've had is that they've received my evidence for the mandotary reconsideration! A bit of a relief as I sent master copies as wanted to get them sent quickly! Nothing I need back, just would have been tricky if they hadn't got it! Just (another) waiting game now, I read they don't have any time limit on completion for the MR's so worried that's true! Already been waiting so long 😔
Anyone else heard anything? X

@4andapup I’m sorry to hear you’ve had to do the same I’ve just started my MR this Moro g and they did it over the phone so got to send my evidence in too why do they make us have too fight for what’s right is beyond me x

Hi everyone, any news? It's been a little over 3 weeks now since my MR, no news! Just wondering if anyone knows, if you get middle or high rate care, do you automatically qualify for careers allowance or do you have to have this awful wait again whilst they decide? Xx

So frustrating for you! Bloody covid 🙄. Fingers crossed 🤞 Four weeks on Tuesday for our MR but I'm not sure if they're going to class it as when they got the extra evidence 🤷‍♂️ may brave the call again 😂 x

I sent them yesterday signed for 🤞 school wrote a letter backing everything I said didn’t wasn’t to ask school for this letter but they were happy to help and send all referrals what they’ve done the letter was 2 full pages long too explaining everything hope this is enough x

@4andapup hope you don't mind me asking sent of me mandatory reconsideration of they got it on the 27th January so about 2 weeks sent more evidence how long have you been waiting? Have you heard anything from them yet hun xxx

I’ve heard nothing I had to ring yesterday took me a good hour to get through all I wanted to know is if they’ve received my supporting evidence what I’ve sent . Which they did Friday . He then said we will be in touch once a decision has been made test again another waiting game which I promised myself I’d forget about it this time but it’s so hard .

Mine was the 25th January. X

@sunnyshine12121 Hi! I started my MR over the phone on the 11th January then sent the evidence that day via signed for 1st class. It's been 4 weeks and 2 days - not that I'm counting (!!) 🤣 and haven't heard anything yet sadly. I called up on 25th January and they had recieved and stamped the evidence but didn't say anything other than 'we will be in touch'
I am kicking myself that I didn't ask about their mandatory reconsideration waiting times! May call up on Tuesday when it's been 5 weeks if I haven't heard, will keep you all posted! Good luck everyone xxx

@Ljaj @4andapup I called them today to make sure they have my form ect and was tould that they have it and that it should be going to a different person next week sometime so I did ask how long wi I be waiting to hear. Got tould that the don't take that long with a mandatory reconsideration so I said I will call when it's about week 6 to wich the man said it wouldn't take that long so @4ANDAPUP hopefully you will hear soon xx
