Hi. New to all of this. I sent my 1st claim in on the 9th of july. Scanned in on the 23rd july, txt on the 7th august to say they had receieved it. Heard nothing else since. My 8 weeks are up next friday 17th september. I had no evidence to send in apart from an email from small steps about gathering more info from myself and school. My son is 15 next week. Suspected autism for years since he was in primary school.been fobbed off for years. Hes also dyslexic, on the sen register, has special lesson in school in inclusion centre and has comminication issues. He struggkes to to things a normal 14 nearly 15 year old can do. Anxiety issues, communication problems, speach problems. Suspected ADD Too. Im sure i will be rejected 😔

Mumof5babies · 08/09/2021 21:21

I would try get the school to write you a supporting letter outlining his difficulties and all intervention they are doing with him. Fingers crossed for you. Has he been referred for assessment for ASD. He sounds very much like my 19 yr old he has a few extra problems we didn't put a claim in for him as i didn't know about this till recently. Good luck 🤞

Mumoflewbielew · 08/09/2021 21:46

School are pretty useless to be honest. We have been referred to small steps but they are taking ages. Hes struggling at school in all main subjects, maths, english and science. He cant tell the time, he cant add up to 20 without using fingers and takes ages.He wont go anywhere without me as he cant read and understand signs, neither can he remember and or write his own address if needed. He wont communicate with people he doesnt know. When its parents evening all we get is " he is very quiet in lessons, he wont ask for help and he is very behind with work." He gets kept behind for only completing2 lines of work. Keeps getting put down in lower groups in lessons. But without this diagnosis i feel like im getting nowhere. I really dont know what to do. Hes just started yr 10 and its getting too much for him. Primary school had concerns but told me to wait till he went to secondary and they would be able to get him referred and sorted. This has been going on since he was about 6. I dont know what to do.

Covid has put even more of a hold on everything.

Alk19 · 08/09/2021 22:03

@Mumoflewbielew
I was always told the mum who shouts the loudest gets heard I did the same with my son although he's very young still I got PALS involved as his paediatrician kept cancelling our appointments and within 2 weeks I had an appointment face to face you keep pushing x

Mumof5babies · 08/09/2021 22:07

Awww not good hun send his grades in that may help. X

Mumoflewbielew does DS have an EHCP?

Mumoflewbielew · 08/09/2021 22:21

I dont think so. I thought he would of had one being registered on the SEN register but ive been told tonight i need to request one. Communication has been so poor throughout his whole time through school. The 1 teacher who i spoke to who had major concerns went off from work and everyone else just keeps pushing everything to one side. Hes been shoved under the carpet for years, let down by the system. And hes struggling, we all are as a family. Im having to take time off work when hes struggling and making hinself physically sick with anxiety over school and what they are expecting him to do

Mumoflewbielew · 08/09/2021 22:25

Has anyone else been awarded even with very little evidence?

10brokengreenbottles · 08/09/2021 22:27

Apply for an EHCNA yourself, IPSEA have a model letter you can use. You would know if he had an EHCP as there would have been assessments and annual reviews. Not everyone on the SEN register has an EHCP, but they should have an IEP.

Whatayear2021 · 08/09/2021 22:30

Mumoflewbielew my 10 year old son has just been awarded with no diagnosis (waiting for autism diagnosis) the only evidence I had was an early help form and one paediatrician letter from his first appointment, he’s not even started his speech therapy or occupational therapy yet. I didn’t get anyone to fill in the “someone who knows your child” part either. He has been awarded middle rate care and low rate mobility till 2023. The early help form was completed by school though so they could see from that his difficulties I suppose, but I was fully expecting him to be declined. They received my forms on the 6th of July and the decision was made this Monday.

Mumoflewbielew · 08/09/2021 22:46

Have you received a txt or letter or did yoi phone to find out?

Mummyof3boz · 08/09/2021 22:47

I’m hoping he is awarded on the info I gave them they received mines 23rd July so hoping I will hear something soon and it’s good news..

Gemconks · 09/09/2021 05:14

My son is 3 and he has just been awarded on Monday for the middle rate, we don't have a diagnosis, we're on a waiting list to see the community paediatrician, we have a first speech and language appointment at the end of the month, the SEN teacher at his nursery helped us with our application form. I honestly didn't think we'd get awarded but we have, fingers crossed you guys will get the good news too xx

Mummyof3boz · 09/09/2021 07:25
