Waiting times for DLA for new claim 2021
Sengland01 · 15/04/2021 12:56
Hi the DLA received my claim on the 1st April 21. Does anyone know the current waiting times. Thanks
Chandelina · 04/08/2021 17:46
I’m sure it’s suppose to be backdated to the day you rung them and asked for a form.
This is my first time applying so I wouldn’t know how long it would be with the decision maker for, however 2 weeks does sound a long time.
Vickygal · 04/08/2021 17:47
Mine been with decision maker for 4 weeks first time claim, they received forms back 22 June, I keep phoning every week!! ,Will phone again Monday week 7
Chandelina · 04/08/2021 18:21
Yes I’m sure you will, I got a text first and then a letter x
Shell03 · 04/08/2021 18:23
Hi all . My form also reached them 17th June.
I rang and got told on Monday its with a decision maker person . They get put on system then in decision makers holding then they pick them out by date . Fingers crossed for everyone.
MyDcAreMarvel · 04/08/2021 18:25
@Bestboyintheworld2015 your claim will be backdated to the date you requested the form.
MyDcAreMarvel · 04/08/2021 18:26
@onthinice you used to her a text but that’s been stopped. You will get a letter but it usually takes 3-4 weeks to arrive.
MyDcAreMarvel · 04/08/2021 18:26
*get not her
Organisedchaosalways · 07/08/2021 13:55
Mine is with the handler since last week, I got no other information and was told quite curtly to not ring until after the 8 weeks ( it had been nearly 7 weeks last week) as I would be wasting my time waiting on the phone for over an hour like I had done that day.... anyone else get rude people when they ring?
onthinice · 07/08/2021 14:37
@MyDcAreMarvel thank you for the info.
Chandelina · 07/08/2021 16:53
I’ve rung 4 times now over the 7 weeks, not just for an update but to give them extra information. Wouldn’t say they have been rude to me, however they do remind me it’s not week 8 yet 🤣.
But on Friday they said the claim is with a case manager now, and I’d hear something mid/end of august.
I do think it’s going to be refused, I don’t think I went into detail about things and kinda gave them an outline. However the specialists have wrote much more in detail than I have....so il just have to wait and see now I suppose.
Good luck to all that are waiting for a decision xx
onthinice · 07/08/2021 18:03
Good luck to all. I don't know if I stand much of a chance. The school refused to provide a supporting statement as my DD doesn't have an EHCP (they do provide additional support for her though so if they contacted the school they should say this). And we are only just getting started with SALT referrals so no "expert" really to comment at the moment. She got diagnosed in December but we were pretty much forgotten about by any services "because of covid".
Nahhh · 07/08/2021 18:48
Some of the call handlers are lovely and some are really rude.I guess it’s the same in any job. If you call at 9am on the dot you usually get through within 15 mins.
@onthinice I’m really surprised your school wouldn’t provide a statement of support. That’s really poor of them. My sons statement was about 5 sentences but it said what it needed to.
As I mentioned before my renewal took 3 Calendar months. I didn’t realise it had been so long until the week before I got a decision or I’d have been going mad. My sons claim was actually upgraded though and they backpaid the extra from the date they received the form.
Bestboyintheworld2015 · 08/08/2021 10:31
Thank you for replying i thought that aswell, i think in my case they have gotten mixed up somewhere i really appreciate your help thank you xx
Bestboyintheworld2015 · 08/08/2021 10:37
Thank you everyone i appreciate all your help, i was so confused with the info the call handler had given me last week, i phoned again on friday the lad i spoke to explained everything and was more than helpful and apologised for the delay, he was the nicest person i have spoken to in cs and didn't rush me off the phone, he said i will have an answer soon as its been 8 weeks now best of luck everyone hopefully we don't have to wait much longer xx
Cjk2013 · 09/08/2021 11:03

leslie77 · 09/08/2021 14:30
We have a new claim and renewal in just now, both forms were received at the start of June but I've been told it'll take weeks still to get any decision my older daughter who is waiting on a renewal has her original claim run out next week so I'll also lose my carers allowence. I'm gutted.
Cjk2013 · 09/08/2021 15:55
I have just recieved a message my son qualifies too. I wish you all the best of luck and I hope you all get what your little ones are entitled to xx
Starseeking · 09/08/2021 20:40
I'm posting mine by recorded post tomorrow, so it sounds like it'll be at least another 8 weeks until I hear back from them!
MyDcAreMarvel · 09/08/2021 21:32
@leslie77 the renewal should be done next week , they are prioritised if they are running out.
