Hey!

I’m sure it’s suppose to be backdated to the day you rung them and asked for a form.

This is my first time applying so I wouldn’t know how long it would be with the decision maker for, however 2 weeks does sound a long time.

@Bestboyintheworld2015 your claim will be backdated to the date you requested the form.

@onthinice you used to her a text but that’s been stopped. You will get a letter but it usually takes 3-4 weeks to arrive.

Mine is with the handler since last week, I got no other information and was told quite curtly to not ring until after the 8 weeks ( it had been nearly 7 weeks last week) as I would be wasting my time waiting on the phone for over an hour like I had done that day.... anyone else get rude people when they ring?

Report
onthinice · 07/08/2021 14:37

@MyDcAreMarvel thank you for the info.

Hi,

I’ve rung 4 times now over the 7 weeks, not just for an update but to give them extra information. Wouldn’t say they have been rude to me, however they do remind me it’s not week 8 yet 🤣.
But on Friday they said the claim is with a case manager now, and I’d hear something mid/end of august.
I do think it’s going to be refused, I don’t think I went into detail about things and kinda gave them an outline. However the specialists have wrote much more in detail than I have....so il just have to wait and see now I suppose.
Good luck to all that are waiting for a decision xx

Good luck to all. I don't know if I stand much of a chance. The school refused to provide a supporting statement as my DD doesn't have an EHCP (they do provide additional support for her though so if they contacted the school they should say this). And we are only just getting started with SALT referrals so no "expert" really to comment at the moment. She got diagnosed in December but we were pretty much forgotten about by any services "because of covid".

Some of the call handlers are lovely and some are really rude.I guess it’s the same in any job. If you call at 9am on the dot you usually get through within 15 mins.

@onthinice I’m really surprised your school wouldn’t provide a statement of support. That’s really poor of them. My sons statement was about 5 sentences but it said what it needed to.

As I mentioned before my renewal took 3 Calendar months. I didn’t realise it had been so long until the week before I got a decision or I’d have been going mad. My sons claim was actually upgraded though and they backpaid the extra from the date they received the form.

We have a new claim and renewal in just now, both forms were received at the start of June but I've been told it'll take weeks still to get any decision Sad my older daughter who is waiting on a renewal has her original claim run out next week so I'll also lose my carers allowence. I'm gutted.

I'm posting mine by recorded post tomorrow, so it sounds like it'll be at least another 8 weeks until I hear back from them!

Report
MyDcAreMarvel · 09/08/2021 21:32

@leslie77 the renewal should be done next week , they are prioritised if they are running out.
