Thanks to Thumbwitch for inspiring the title of this new thread. Smile

I will do my very best to minimise my worrying about the future as none of us know what it holds. For now, it's all about celebrating Beatrice's life today, every day.

As always, please feel free to follow us on our journey, and thank you in advance for the wonderful advice I am bound to receive from fellow parents, of SN children or otherwise.

Here's to a positive, uneventful thread!

A quick update from my slow phone. Beatrice continued to be up and down on Friday and into Saturday. Fortunately, on Saturday morning, the doctors agreed to some ward leave so we went and met the group from SCBU who.meet once a month and together we walked to a park near the hospital. It was wonderful to be sat in the shade with a good friend and her little boy, talking about plans for his naming ceremony which takes place in a couple of weeks.

On returning to the hospital, a friend arrived and we walked into town together to grab lunch at Pizza Express which was delicious. After she left, dh arrived and gave Beatrice a bath whilst I had a snooze as I really hadn't slept well all week. Dh stayed for a few hours, during which time I slept, so we still didn't talk...

Sunday morning came and Beatrice was looking much calmer, albeit still with a shuffle nose. Dr Doom was the consultant on duty and quickly discharged Beatrice, so it was with great delight that I took her home and together we spent the afternoon at my mum's house with the older girls having a BBQ before coming home to bed.

During the night, Beatrice was restless and uncomfortable and upon waking this morning I realised she was burning up. Her temperature was 39.5 despite calpol and brufen, and her heart rate was 210. I rang the CCN who told us to get her straight back into hospital.

Do here we are. Back in HDU. Her sats have dropped and she's been in 15 litres o2, but we've weaned her down to 1 litre again. Her temperature is still high, despite more calpol and brufen and everyone is at a loss...

Sending hope that the Dr's figure something out soon to bring the temperature down again.

They are still saying it is bronchiolitus, but I'm not sure as she's had 2 Xrays in the last week that were both clear- very different to the last time she had bronch and when she had pneumonia. They said, that they did a swab for RSV, and they are waiting for results of whooping cough. They are now going to test for MRSA.

She's been on the atrovent nebulizer, and we've just given her codeine for the obvious discomfort that paracetamol and brufen aren't touching.

The last time we gave her codeine was the period in which we nearly lost her, reminder that awful, awful night...? She looks so much stronger than then. Dear God, let her be strong again, but please no pain.

Are they checking out abdomen and urinary system too for source of infection? I know the respiratory system is the obvious candidate but not the only possibility.

youarekidding · 28/05/2012 18:45

Adding my positive vibes to the thread. I'm sorry Beatrice is poorly again.
