I was having an okay-ish week. Trying my best to be on plan. Lost 2.5 pounds on my first week but today I caved and ate a chocolate pastry twist and a few fat chips. Hoping I lose something at weigh in on Wednesday. Does anyone else have bad days where they pick

I like the idea that if you think of the week as 21 meals and you fall off on one that still leaves 20 meals to make up for it!

LightandAiry · 15/01/2024 21:22

@Caytun I stayed on plan until Wednesday of last week, then got waylaid by Christmas leftovers which are now gone! I like the idea of 21 meals thinking over the whole week. Good luck for Wednesday.

TheGirlWhoLived · 15/01/2024 21:57

I read somewhere that if you have a ‘picky’ day and know you are just on a munch or a holiday or whatever m then it’s good to allow yourself eg 40 syns so that you get the freedom of eating more but the control of knowing you haven’t gone wild. Next day just normal syn yourself and start again

OverTheRainbow2023 · 16/01/2024 21:30

I'm also someone that can send myself off track with picky eating. I've been trying hard since I've rejoined to work out my triggers and how to avoid them, as well as other psychological reasons why I over eat.

I've figured out my worst time for picky eating is around 5 ish when I'm getting hungry and am in the kitchen cleaning and making the children's tea. I therefore have been trying ways to overcome this such as a filling healthy mid afternoon snack so I don't feel too hungry, or avoiding the kitchen all together at these times and getting my husband to cook their tea whilst I do something else. I also know hard cheeses are a trigger food for me and I nearly always end up over eating. I've made a swap to cheese spread/triangles instead which has really helped.

@Caytun do you know some trigger times/foods for you which can lead to off-plan eating?

Caytun · 16/01/2024 22:20

Thank you everyone for sharing

Yes for me it's definitely the late night snacking so I think I'm going to save all my syns for when the kids go to bed...

I'm a crisp fiend!Confused

Caytun · 16/01/2024 22:21

I think I need to plan out 21 meals... a great idea thank you. And definitely going to think about the 40 syns...

Wilma55 · 17/01/2024 18:54

Got the Food for the Soul book with my countdown and tried 3 new recipes, leek and mushroom bake, lamb pilaf and jhopadee pie. All good but the pilaf and pie were very good!

Hello!

I lost 3lb in my first week which I am really pleased with.

However AF has just arrived so this week is going to be more challenging as I want to eat ALL THE THINGS!

TomWambsgansSwans · 18/01/2024 20:39

I've not been able to properly get in the game this week - last week I had that horrible covid-y cold and I've been really tired and craving sugar. My DD still has loads of chocolate from Christmas that I have been nibbling 😳

Only hoping for -1lb this week (aiming for a pound a week until I'm at target) but I'm not sure I will even get there! If I lose I will I'll use it as a kick up the arse to get going properly!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/01/2024 21:03

I lost a pound this week, I’m not really properly back in the headspace yet. I’ve eaten a fair bit of rubbish this week alongside my meals and I haven’t counted syns accurately so it’s no wonder really. So this week my goal is to track everything, drink 2 litres of water every day, and to eat lots more veg. I have some days where I barely eat any at all.

Elttek · 19/01/2024 05:13

Last week on my first weigh in, I lost 2lb which I was happy with. This week, that 2lb has gone back on again- wtf 😭 I have started my period, but usually it's the week before it that makes me heavier. I'm gutted. I'll give it another 2 weeks, but if I've not lost by then I'll be finding another way...

Elttek · 19/01/2024 05:14

also, tried the chicken and bacon carbonara ready meal of theirs- rank 😷

FourTeaFallOut · 19/01/2024 05:16

I lost three pounds this week. So, I'll take that, very pleased.

OverTheRainbow2023 · 19/01/2024 08:37

4lbs off for me this week which I'm really pleased with. Have been trying to swap some of my free foods for speed foods which seems to have worked. Have also been working my way through the slimming world podcasts to keep motivation up!

@Elttek slimming world is just basically a method of calorie counting without the counting so will work if you stick to it. Some weeks the scales don't always reflect our hard work though but I find if I'm disappointed one week then normally it comes off the next. If I'm disappointed with my week I try to ask myself these questions:

  1. Has a 1/3rd of my plate been speed food at every meal?
  2. Have I carefully weighed and measured all my healthy extras?
  3. Have I counted all my syns?
  4. Have I checked foods are what I think they are you i.e have I been mistaking a free food like grapes for a speed food
thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/01/2024 22:49

I’ve had a good day today, I did have 20 syns but compared to previous Fridays that’s a significant improvement. I consciously drank more water today and I think that’s really helped me.

Woahtherehoney · 20/01/2024 07:50

Ahhh well done @OverTheRainbow2023

just waiting in group for image therapy to start. 3lbs off this week so it’s half a stone in 2 weeks for me which I’m happy with. It’ll start to drop now to 1 or 2lbs a week but every pound off is still a pound off so I’m desperate to stay committed this time💪🏻

TheGirlWhoLived · 20/01/2024 10:07

@Elttek i thought that carbonara was really tasty! Just shows different tastes eh. Really similar to ask linguine carbonara I get for takeaway. I do really well Sunday-Thursday, Friday well all day until bottle of wine hits and then Saturday is a bit of a write off 🤦🏼‍♀️ not sure if I’m going to get a loss Monday but we’ll see!

Wilma55 · 20/01/2024 10:12

@Woahtherehoney your group must start early! I went to WI today as couldn't go Tuesday and 1lb off, bit disappointed as that's 10 days and had lost more on home scales. However did share a large fish and chips with OH last night so perhaps that's the reason?

I look

LightandAiry · 20/01/2024 10:57

I'm pleased to say I weighed in at group today and lost 1.5lb, as I am finding it difficult to focus with food. I am making an effort to walk and this week to clock up at least 10,000 steps per day.

I bought myself a Covent Garden Leek & Potato soup this week, really tasty. I'm going to make a big batch this week, it definitely helps.

Well done on the losses.

TomWambsgansSwans · 20/01/2024 13:19

Great advice @OverTheRainbow2023.

Our SW leader said similar this morning.

I have lost -2lbs this morning! I have been feeling very dejected and low energy so I am genuinely delighted to have had a loss. I am 11lb away from my target and am aiming for 1lb a week until April to get there. My current weight is 9 stone 10 lbs.

I didn't get time to stay to group today but I would have raised it with my leader this morning because I feel very tired and a bit low. I have eaten well but am really craving sweets and chocolate, yet I know that if I give in uk my cravings they just get worse. When people talk about snacking on Freddos and curly wurlys I know I would never be able to stop if I had them in the house!

LightandAiry · 20/01/2024 17:38

Well done @TomWambsgansSwans 2lb loss is great. I know what you mean about feeling tired, time of year? I would love a spa day.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/01/2024 19:56

Yeah this time of year is so energy zapping isn’t it? Would a vitamin d supplement help? I read somewhere that virtually everyone could benefit from it.

I ran today, and had a really good day, until dinner time when dh offered to cook and he did burgers, chips and white bread rolls. Annoying because I could have made it entirely syn free but dh’s way it ended up as around 30 syns ( 🤦‍♀️) - anyway, it is what it is. It’s nice to be cooked for. It was one meal in an otherwise good day.

my shopping order came today so we now have nice food in, I was struggling with bare cupboards. Tomorrow, I’m going to give the dog a good walk, run in the afternoon, and tomorrows dinner will be sausages, mash and gravy 😋

Yeah weigh in starts at 7;30 but I like to get there early and get it done haha!

yeah I find if I eat anything overly salty the night before I don’t tend to lose as much even if I’ve lost more in the week - it’ll even out for you next week I’m sure! Well done on a pound - a pound off is still a pound off! 👏🏻
