@Fundays12 good luck for weigh in!

Testarossa44 · 25/01/2024 09:45

You have to buy the hi fi bars off the SW website, in the 'shop' section, not the app. You can be an online member or group member. You need the lifeline pin number in the back if your book that the leader should have given you. This enables you to register so you can access the whole website.

Ohforaslimmerme2024 · 25/01/2024 13:19

im struggling. I’m an online member and I really need to be in group but my life doesn’t allow for that for the next three plus months.

im ok all day, but come the evening I can’t be good, I’ve been stuck five pounds down and yo yo ing down to eight pounds down and then back up again since last august.

im planning on reading this post from the beginning to hopefully pick up some hints and tricks to kickstart being a healthier me.

FourTeaFallOut · 25/01/2024 13:39

I have a meeting this evening. And I have some poorly timed hormone-fuelled water retention. Do you think they'd accept a retrospective weight from Tuesday? 😂

Wilma55 · 25/01/2024 16:40

Oops, lunch at pizzaexpress, lasagna 22 syns, 175ml red wine 9. Rest of day on plan so could be worse!

Thanks @Testarossa44 found the hifi bars in "shop" but no option to add/order them came up. Have messaged sw so await their reply!

@Ohforaslimmerme2024 sorry you're struggling. What are the pinch points?

Is there any way at all you can make it to a group?

If not, if you think about how this group might support you, that could be helpful as we can dive in with some tips and motivation!

TomWambsgansSwans · 25/01/2024 16:52

@Wilma55 I had a croissant and a cinnamon roll on Tuesday at a birthday breakfast... put them in the tracker at it came out as 55 syns!! Blush

Testarossa44 · 25/01/2024 17:16

I tried online last year, I lost half a stone, then lost all my motivation. Group is better for me, its those scales! Can't cheat them like you can online.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/01/2024 19:42

I lost half a pound this week. My weight loss is soooooo painfully slooooooow. There’s people who’ve lost more on one week than I’ve lost since September! I do feel a bit cheated, I walk 4 miles every day and run 3x a week and I’m scraping a half or a pound each week. It’s a bit miserable isn’t it?

but anyway. Keep on keeping on and all that. I just had my dinner (microwave fish, jacket potato with a laughing cow triangle and half a plate of mixed veg (cauli, carrots, broccoli) l had one of the new dark choc Hifis for dessert. Total syns today = 9.5.

I’m determined not to go over a single day this week. I think that is one easy thing I could change (eg having more syns one day and less another, but no- that is not the true plan is it) but I’ll have to plan my weekend quite carefully because that’s my downfall. It would be nice to end January having lost everything i put on in December (6.5lbs) so I can start February fresh but that will mean losing 3.5lbs this week which isn’t impossible, but is unlikely. But I’m 2.5lbs away from new numbers so that would also be nice.

Testarossa44 · 25/01/2024 20:08

Bear, are you tracking your measurements? You might be losing fat, but gaining muscle. A pound of fat and a pound of muscle still weigh the same, but the muscle takes up less space, so your weight may not change, but your measurements can decrease a fair bit.

Wilma55 · 25/01/2024 20:32

Reply from SW re hifi bars etc, only online members can order online. Group members get through consultant.

@Testarossa44 unfortunately I don’t think I am, if anything I am losing muscle as I had to forego my gym membership when I got my puppy, I used to do 6am classes and I just couldn’t do them once we got her. My intention was to do home workouts, but since she arrived on 11th October, I have done no strength training whatsoever. It’s like I have a mental block, I just cannot muster myself to do anything. I do run and walk a lot, but I am definitely losing my muscle tone on my arms now. I’m just a very slow loser, always have been- that’s fine when you’re losing but if I can gain 6.5lbs in two weeks over Christmas but take 6 weeks to lose it again, it makes for very slow weight loss.

Last September I saw hifi bats in Iceland frozen foods. Haven’t been in since then. I get mine delivered as I’m an online member but I have to buy ten packs at a time.

thank you for asking.

I’m shielding with a cancer patient relative so can’t go to group. I’m hoping I can change that in the summer.

pinch point is probably the point I relax of an evening, I’ve had a healthy meal, followed by a bowl of fruit, then I just want want want, and due to relative needing to gain weight we’ve a cupboard full of chocolate, decided not to buy stuff I like for them and I still eat it, I’m the one who eats all the strawberry creams even though I don’t like them. I also have really painful and bizarre food allergies so packet stuff etc is awkward. I knit for distraction but it doesn’t really help.

I need a something to focus on, I wondered today if I bought myself a nice swimsuit I can be more focused about slimming my way into it. My DD suggested hypnosis today and I’m wondering maybe I should give it a go.

FourTeaFallOut · 26/01/2024 08:07

I had a 2 pound loss this week. Another 1.5 pounds next week and I'll have my 1/2 stone certificate.

TheGirlWhoLived · 26/01/2024 08:31

Going into the weekend strong but this is always my danger zone. Send me strength! And a couple of spare syns if you have them

Fundays12 · 26/01/2024 08:43

I maintained this week but I am happy with that. I have had terrible tooth problems so had it pulled the other day and have been struggling to eat and on medication. I feel bloated and uncomfortable possibly because of the medication. I am back to HIIT workouts and on plan again now though.

TomWambsgansSwans · 26/01/2024 21:53

@Ohforaslimmerme2024 that sounds really tough. I am not sure if there are still Zoom groups in case that would work for you?

The biggest challenge is definitely the habit breaking/snacky time in the evening (it is for me anyway!). When I'm feeling mentally well I never have food as treats but this week my consultant suggested having a Freddo as an end of day reward if I've stuck to my eating plan!

That is five syns and I've been having it with a Yorkshire bedtime brew after dinner. It has actually stopped me snacking in the day as I know I've got it to look forward to! The other thing I have been having is a lot of water and some chromium supplements - I think they have fibre in and they just stop me feeling hungry if I have them an hour before meals which is my danger zone.

I have a list of non-food treats I can have - things like a heated eye mask, putting on expensive hand cream, burning a lovely candle, or running a bath full of magnesium salts.

TomWambsgansSwans · 26/01/2024 22:14

Well done @FourTeaFallOut!

TomWambsgansSwans · 27/01/2024 08:48

Half off for me this week!

I'm now 9st 9lbs with 10lbs to go to target and I've lost 1st 6lbs.

It's my TOTM but I think I've done OK overall this week so I'm pretty satisfied with my efforts. My aim is for 1lb a week until I get to target now, so I want to do it steadily but consistently during 2024. That would get me to target midway through April.

I'm going for my SW gold award and it's a bit harder than I thought - 150 mins of exercise is quite hard to fit during a rainy January!

OverTheRainbow2023 · 27/01/2024 10:21

@Ohforaslimmerme2024 evenings are my trigger time too. I find making sure I have a big evening meal helps so I'm too full to want to snack on anything else. If I'm still snacky after my meal then I'll have a big bowl of fruit with a protein yoghurt/kvarg and that normally works as the protein provides a bit of extra filling power. I know if I use my syns on a chocolate bar or something in the evening then that won't be filling enough and I'm likely to lose control and massively over syn, so my focus is definitely really filling up on healthier alternative during those trigger times.

Also the sw podcast, sw groups on Facebook, sw instagram accounts, sw app and website (particularly success stories) and sw magazine are all great alternatives to an in person group to help keep up motivation. I try to set aside some time each day to listen to/read/engage with one of these things otherwise I know Im more likely to fall off the wagon.

Wilma55 · 27/01/2024 11:16

@OverTheRainbow2023 can you recommend any Facebook groups please? I've joined a few but apart from recipes don't find much support there.

OP posts:
Ohforaslimmerme2024 · 27/01/2024 14:59

Thanks for all the tips, I’m going to investigate them, I was having hifi bars as a snack but I think I’ll save them for the evening and swop in a banana after lunch, I know it’s not the best but I like them, I struggle with fruit as a lot makes my tongue very sore.

im definitely going to look into podcasts, and a zoom or fb group would be good too. I think a little of my problem is my lack of a social life so perhaps I need to see if I can phone a friend some evenings or do a video call.

we are going out this evening to friends who are happy to do Covid tests and have confirmed they are feeling 100% well, I am very excited. The only downer is they requested my famous chocolate cake when I asked what I could bring, BUT I’ve only made a small one and I’m taking it on a paper plate and leaving it there. So far today I’ve made sure everything I’ve had is syn free. (Found out the other day in SW podcast stands for synergy- I just thought it was a made up word for sin 🤷‍♀️).

OverTheRainbow2023 · 27/01/2024 17:45

@Wilma55 yeah I have found a lot of the Facebook groups are just people asking syn values. "Slimming world recipes and support" isn't too bad, and I like the slimming world before and after photos groups. Instagram is definitely better though, if you don't have an account you should definitely consider making one just to follow slimming world people as it's really inspiring.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/01/2024 21:36

I had two really good days Thurs and fri, I am normally pretty loose on the plan after group on thurs and recently I’ve been worse, so it was a huge change to end Thurs on 9 syns and Friday on 12. Today, unfortunately I have not been so good, went to MIL’s for lunch and it was lots of white bread, and Gregory’s pieces of Christmas cake…. I reckon I have had quite a lot of syns- I mean, a slice of Christmas cake could easily be 20 and I had 2 🤦‍♀️ plus various other goodies. So today’s a write off.

tomorrow, I’m going for a decent run and will walk the dog, my foods all sorted and I’m just going to really try not to write off any more of the work and get straight back on plan. I’ve drunk loads of water this evening and had a large salad with my dinner.
