Go and face the gain- nearly everyone who walks through the door will have had a Christmas gain. Then draw the line and start loosing again @ChocolateCandle

@OneMoreWish when i lost 4 stone I had quite a bit of loose skin around my stomach. I did combination of running and weights - I think it was the weights/ abs classes that helped tighten my stomach muscles. Anything is better than nothing though so do what you enjoy

I'm joining mid-Jan once I've scoffed all the leftover Christmas chocolate so thought I'd placemark in anticipation 👋

Report

PieonaBarm · 31/12/2022 06:03

There's going to be a free joining voucher you download from most of the tabloid type papers which is valid until mid Jan from today I think, so if anyone is rejoining keep a look out for it!

@ChocolateCandle definitely face the gain, you won't stick to it this week if you don't go, and remember without the gains you can't have the losses!

There’s a nice new year pack with some recipe cards if it helps motivate you. Been a lovely session - we played bingo and then talked about what we were proud of in 2022 and wanted to achieve in 2023- anyone fancy sharing here?

for me 2022 is about restarting and the positive self talk that comes with feeling better about myself. I love that clothes fit again and I can buy new stuff (had a proper sort out this week) and feeling happier in myself. 2023 features a new job which I’m very excited about (not until mid way through the year) and hopefully getting to target!

Morning all, I did book holiday for today, but dragged myself in to group as our weekend away is cancelled. I am shocked it's a gain of 4.5lb, just in a week. @Dontsparethehorses I've picked up the recipe cards, there's a nice bean chilli I want to cook this evening with potato wedges and salad.

@SnowOnTheRooftops welcome, I have the same problem with left over chocolates!

I'm back to it. @ChocolateCandle I am glad I went as it's focused me, not easy though.

Hope you are all OK

Thank you for all the good advice and encouragement. I went to group - I've gained 1.5 lbs but I still have my 3 stone loss. Feeling positive as I didn't go mad over Christmas but I did have treats that I wouldn't normally have - chocolates, nuts, Christmas cake and Stilton.

Back on plan...

@ChocolateCandle snap on the gain but also not going mad just nice treats. 2.5lb off this week is my aim and then I would get 2 stone award 🤞 we will wait and see. Kids off until Wednesday so need to keep busy to manage it… chocolates also aren’t all gone yet…!

I need to give the remaining chocolates away as I can't be trusted! Good luck!

Just weighed- holy crap. A full stone heavier than I was in July !

Marking place again!

Starting when dc back at school although I have a weekend away next weekend that will involve a takeaway so not a good start although it should also include a big walk up hills weather dependent so maybe it will even out. Might start Monday 8 Jan.

Only loosely following SW as I don't have the headspace to follow it to the letter but any improvement is good. There's a sign in my gym that says a quick workout is better than no workout so I'm applying that to food too. On plan breakfast and lunch then off plan dinner is better than no on plan meals at all. I already cook 2-3 meals.a night due to dc diet restrictions so dinner will be the hardest one to be on plan but I'm doing what I can and being gentle with myself.

So according to the NHS the maximum healthy weight for.my height is 9stone1 and I haven't been 9 stone for about 20 years pre DC!

I'm currently 14.1 but that was before Christmas so will update soon. So that's 5 stone exactly to lose 😱 I'm ashamed, I don't see myself as that big I think I look pretty good but then I see pics of myself and don't recognise myself. Well obviously I know it's me but you know what I mean.

I'd like to be able to walk up the stairs without gasping for air!

Realistically I'd love to lose 2 stone or just over so I'd be just under 12 stone. A couple of years ago I was 11.6 and really liked that weight but covid and the associated stress saw me pile on weight.

Anyway that's enough waffle from me!

Happy New Year everyone 😀

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants I haven't tried them yet. But I am going to do a proper food shop either tomorrow or Tuesday and get the ingredients for them. Will just have to by mindful not to eat the whole lot in one go.

We have got so much chocolate left over. Been happily making my way through but said to my partner want it out when we go back to work so it is up to him what happens with it. He can keep it hidden away and eat it or donate it away.

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor that's brilliant 😀

They have changed the amount of Arlo Best Of Both milk you can have from 300ML to 250ML not sure why. Thinking of keeping it the same. Never had any problem before. Do wonder if there will be any explanation to why though.

apologies for random bold bits.

Hope you don't mind me joining this thread. I did SW 5ish years ago, lost over over 7 stone and managed to stay at target for 6 months before getting ill and putting some of it back on. Was on SW threads under a different name and got lots of help and support from them.

Looking to rejoin on Tuesday, does anyone know of any magazines that are have the free joining vouchers?

That's really good to know thank you. Kicking myself as I saw some dumbbells in a charity shop a couple of months ago but I wasn't in right frame of mind to diet so picked them up, shrugged and put them back- darn it.

Re chocolates : I read somewhere ( can't remember where) that slim people take in presents of chocolates to the office/ work to share out. Sounded a good plan but my office is still closed at moment and I'm working from home !

Sorry @Carpediem15 for some reason your post hadn't shown up when I posted mine.

Does anyone have any resolutions? Mine is to loose weight of course

But from now til my birthday which is near the end of February no alcohol, eat the rainbow and walk around the block and would love to have a stone off. But anything would be great.

Hi @LeftyLou I'm with you, walking 2/3 miles 5 times per week. Also I go to yoga. I used to go running, but my knees aren't up to it these days!

Welcome @AdditionalCharacter I did book holiday but weighed in on New Year's Eve instead, as a new year weekend away was cancelled. Good luck with rejoining.

@OneMoreWish I have After Eights and Matchmakers left, taking them to work is a plan!

@Decafflatteplease the different meals to cook sounds challenging. You could batch cook yourself some meals and freeze them? Hill walking is good, enjoy your weekend away, masses of calories will be burnt. The next takeaway we have will be Indian, I think it's easier to control as could have half of a main course and share a rice. If it's pizza that's more difficult for me.

@Carpediem15 thanks for the link. I need to pay for another 6 weeks

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants how are you doing? Happy New Year

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor well done on your 1.5 kilos, that's great!

Have a good bank holiday everyone.

Hi All. Happy New Year. Welcome @AdditionalCharacter

@LightandAiry I'm starting yoga again this week. Keeps me sort of normal, and more bendy! I'm thinking of doing the walking as you are, but unofficially.

I need to go on my excercise bike, with a podcast. The hardest part is getting on it, and setting off the podcast. I don't mind it when I'm actually doing it. I need DH just to put me on it, or something!

I'm looking at the rum butter in the fridge! Fortunately no mince pies to go with it, although there is a crimbo pudding in the freezer, as no one fancied it, but managed to force down a portion of christmas vienetta instead! Will it freeze does anyone know? I made it with my own fair hands, so would prefer not to waste it. Although I do occasionally make seed balls for the birds....boozy bird balls anyone? Grin

I've just come back from a 5.5 mile walk so that will make up for the granary toast and butter!

Hi all. Posting again here for accountability. I have put on half a stone since christmas eve, altho hoping to shift some before weigh in friday morning. This year has been crap for me food wise, I have put on a total of two stone since July when we were on an all inclusive holiday, and I've not really managed to get back on track.

Pretty much all of my clothes, bought when I was two stone lighter, are too tight to wear comfortably, some even at all. Luckily I work from home so no problem with looking like a badly stuffed sofa at the office!

I have had a decent breakfast, and have a 0 syn chicken curry in the slow cooker for dinner. I haven't followed the whole thread but will pop in and out as I can.

Good luck everyone. We can do it! 😁
