Slimming World

@OneMoreWish there should be certificates! The leaders probably have to buy packs of them, so she may be cutting costs by only doing stickers. I'd suggest asking her.
If she says no, you've a couple of options- a different groups where you find some friendlier people is a good one. You could make your own certificates, too.
I had a similar amount to lose as you- I'm down 5.5 stone. I'd love to lose the extra half but am finding it hard to focus now.

Hi All. Welcome @Excitedannie and @OneMoreWish .
@Allergyslimmer I had a look on the app, and as far as I can see, it doesn't allow you to specify ingredients you can't have. The filters are more basic than that it seems. Worth a phone call tho, in case I am wrong.
I am due to weigh in today. Suffice to say I would rather pull out some of my own teeth. I dreamt last night that I had gained 1.5 stone. I'm hoping that the actual gain will be rather less...

@OneMoreWish I was a member last year at a local meeting which I could walk too but I never really "clicked" with the leader so just messed about really and never really stuck to it, she just didn't motivate me. I also didn't like her meetings, she would let people talk amongst themselves too. I kept going as I prefer a morning meeting too but eventually just stopped going.
I bit the bullet and went to one in the next town - only a ten minute drive - but in the evening. I've been to this leader before as it fitted with work a few years ago and she's brilliant, and I am so pleased I did go back to her. There's a lot to be said about "clicking" with the meeting. If you like the plan then try a few different leaders for a few weeks, if you hit a goal you'll still get stickers and certificates and can still be slimmer of the week at other meetings. I'm so pleased I went back to the one I'm at, I should have done it last year and I'd be in a very different place now, but you live and learn!

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants Spongey that's not bad at all, it sounds inappropriate but well done on a moderate gain.
Hope everyone is avoiding germs....looks like our New Year trip to see fam won't happen due to nasties: possible chest infection, upset tummy and sore throats.

Thanks for the advice everyone- I went to weigh in today and lost four and half pound so 22 pound in total now :) I mentioned in a meek voice about stickers/ certificates and they said next week. BUT after I got home the leader posted on the groups Facebook group that I was slimmer of the week and put a picture of a written out certificate for me and said in comment I was also slimmer of the month!
I think I'll go to a couple more and see how I go but it's reassuring I can change. And you are right I could make my own :)
What I did do is buy 84 marbles ( = the 84 pound for the six stone I would like to lose) and divided them into two Tupperware boxes one how much I need to lose, one with how many pounds I have lost in total. It's sad but it's things like this that I like doing to visually motivate me and let me get excited about doing something each week ( I also log my weight on slimmers world app and Fitbit app each week)
Feeling good tonight - hoping I might look very different this summer. Last summer we went on holiday and I bought size 20 shorts and skirts and none fitted. Dreaming of size 12-14 this year! Xx

I'm losing a kilo a week at the moment, I do the same but with a kilo bag of pasta. I look at it and see how much it actually is and how much I've lost already. I like your marbles idea 😊

@OneMoreWish any loss over Christmas is amazing 4.5lb is epic! Not surprised your slimmer of the week and month! Definitely get those stickers and certificates- could you message consultant and ask how you collect them? Do you normally stay for group? I weighed at home yesterday and looking like 1lb gain which would be very happy with. I tested positive for covid on Boxing Day but had been unwell couple of days before that. Just full of cold and so snooty - still not fully well so it’s been a very subdued Christmas. No energy even to go for a walk though which is frustrating.
SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/12/2022 13:03
Well done @OneMoreWish . I use my marbles to represent my weekly syn allowance (in theory!) and transfer them from one jar to another when used. I might try your system to see if it kick starts my enthusiasm, as I am 2.5 stone down, but faffling around for a couple of months or so. Need to take my jacket off the excercise bike, put on a podcast and do it!
How's @LightandAiry and everyone?
LightandAiry · 30/12/2022 13:34
Hi @SpongeBobJudgeyPants struggling to not eat the cheese and chocolate! It's not going great guns. @OneMoreWish that's a fab loss! @Dontsparethehorses get well soon.
I think I may sign up to a walking challenge for Refuge, it's 2 miles per day. Looking into it
SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/12/2022 15:49
In theory I'd like to do it again @LightandAiry . In practice, certain peeps said they would sponsor me, then didn't, and I bumped up the donations myself so that I felt it was a respectable amount. Meh, probs my problem. I might do it in spirit with you! Which month?

Heyyy,
I’ve just came across this thread and thought I would jump in. I started slimming world again on Wednesday so still in my first week but so far so good! I had a baby 7 months ago and I was already over weight before that and now I’ve had a baby I’ve just piled more on so wanted to do something about it finally! The last time I done slimming world I managed to lose just over a stone and then I fell pregnant so I’m hoping I can stick to it again and lose more this time 😊 I’m doing it online as I don’t really have time to go to the classes so it’s a bit different this time but I thought if I find a group like this it might help me along the way. X

Thank you, I just feel my head is feeling in the right place to do this. I know my weight loss will slow as I move down the scales but feeling pretty good now.
So I try to attend meetings but it's hard. Out of six I've attended two due to work commitments (on my non working day!) children sick and children off for holidays and either having days out planned or they refuse to stay!
Hoping after Christmas when children are back to school I'll be able to stay longer. My club is actually in a sports centre with swimming pool and my plan was to go swimming or gym after meeting. Reading research I don't know whether I would be better to go gym to try and build more muscle... I'm quite worried about being left with loose skin after the weight loss and read building up muscle can help.
Has anyone had loose skin following weight loss or read tips to avoid it? ( I'm drinking tons more water and hoping to slow to 2 pound a week so doesn't come off too fast) xx
ChocolateCandle · 30/12/2022 22:48
May I join?
I started SW earlier in the year and I've lost just over 3 stone. I need to lose another 3. I don't know if I should weigh in tomorrow. I know that I've gained. Is it better to face that fact or should I weigh in next week with a loss? (hopefully!)
