@LightandAiry welcome back! I’ve only been here a few months so still very much a newbie.

BelandtheDragon · 16/10/2023 19:35

Welcome @NeverAloneNeverAgain I’m with you on the weighing. Not my thing apart from porridge and pasta.

ThreeBearsPorridge · 18/10/2023 11:32

As someone who has never done SW before, is it as easy to do online as in classes?

Ralphiesaurus · 18/10/2023 14:44

@ThreeBearsPorridge I go to the groups so I don't know whether the online version is as good... I like getting the encouragement in the group each week and have found it really motivating (if a bit cheesy with all the clapping 😁).

Another 1lb off for me so 41lb total. One more pound and I'll be three stone down. Yay! I was a bit lighter starting this than when I did Lighter Life years ago (which is a whole other story), so I like to remind myself I'm 62lb down from my heaviest!!)

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 18/10/2023 21:50

I've always found online harder to do because I need the discipline of being weighed weekly. And maybe it's worth doing it in person for a few weeks to get the hang of everything (I assume online members get the same books etc as in person - for me I like a book rather than an online pdf to look at).

temogemo · 19/10/2023 09:30

Hello, I'm rejoining group later today! Feeling nervous but looking forward to a fresh start, haven't been since before lockdown so feel like a completely newbie!

pelagra · 19/10/2023 12:35

Welcome @temogemo and good luck.

I gained 1lb this week, but we had a few days away and ate a lot of street food. I think it was only the amount of sightseeing that kept the gain so low.

I've don a full meal and snack plan for the next week, so straight back on the wagon. Does anyone know how many "speed" pears you can eat in a day before the fruit sugars start to show on the scales?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/10/2023 20:37

I lost 1/2 a pound this, I’m a little disappointed as I actually had a good week and I’d sort of expected more. But hey, a loss is a loss. I’m due on and feeling really exhausted as we have a new puppy and in this godawful weather it’s just been s manic few days.

I came home from group and made a really nice biryani with lamb, and butternut squash and loads of frozen mushrooms. I haven’t planned my meals yet for the week and we really need some shopping done, I’m going Saturday morning. I feel like I need to do some meal prep, batch cooking etc to get through the week a bit more easily. I could do a chilli and a cottage pie maybe and put them in the freezer. I need to eat more veg generally, I try and I do buy it but I have to really force it, which is weird because I do like veg. Must try harder

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2023 09:37

Well done this who have lost

I haven't been that good this week

Looks at caramel buttons empty packet in the bin

But managed to lose a lb so very happy with that

12lbs lost in all

useitorlose · 20/10/2023 11:04

Welcome back @LightandAiry - no judgement here!

@ThreeBearsPorridge I am an online member who has never been to a group or done SW before I joined in July. I have wobbled a bit the last two weeks so haven't lost anything in that period, but I only went up less than 2lbs and now I am pretty much back where I was at my lowest, which is 15lbs lost since joining. I aim to lose about 2st, but was hoping to lose another 7lbs in the next 6 weeks before we go on holiday (which seems a bit ambitious but isn't impossible!)

I enjoy the online membership - I like the app, planner, food scanner, community and live Zoom events. The podcast and message boards like this and the SW one help me to feel part of a community, to be accountable and to reach out for support if needed. I completed my 12 week plan and then signed up for 6 months as it worked out much cheaper - I contemplated 12 months but realistically I have more faith in myself then that and I am confident I will have got that 2st off by April, even with a two week holiday in December and then Christmas.

LightandAiry · 20/10/2023 11:44

Hi all, I am also combining 16-8, that seems to help me to eat less overall.

Well done on your 1lb Blondes

Thanks for the welcome @useitorlose

Waves to @LightandAiry why didn't we both keep it up and be maybe a lot 4/stone lighter

I start off well. Lost think 3lbs x 3 weeks but then I also love food and yummy stuff

LightandAiry · 20/10/2023 17:02

Hiya @Blondeshavemorefun I am a comfort eater and yes I love food! I've just been out walking after sitting on my backside working for 6 hours - my job doesn't help. I think upping the exercise definitely helps.

Planning a veggie casserole for dinner with jacket potato.

2 pounds on this week!!! Said to me by the weigh in lady in a quiet somewhat shocked voice. I blame the weather!
Anyway off to the sunshine for half term and if bad weather makes me gain weight, then a big loss is surely coming.

BelandtheDragon · 20/10/2023 17:36

Food today:
B: 0% Greek yogurt with berries
L: sweet potato with plain chicken and spoonful of cheese
Blueberries for snack as at work and shop/coffee bar close early removing all temptation
Dinner: unsure but I’d like to get the 2 pounds off before I go away on Monday so definitely won’t be pizza!

NeverAloneNeverAgain · 20/10/2023 20:11

It's my 1st weigh in tomorrow 🤞
I'm hopeful for a loss as been manic past 3 days so only managed a meal a day. Slightly worried that I might put on when manage to actually have some proper meals but sure it'll even out and don't want to fall in to bad habits. I've always struggled with a relationship with food so trying to be mindful of that too!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2023 20:17

Sorry @BelandtheDragon at shocked voice so she was judging you

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/10/2023 07:34

Morning everyone, how is the weekend looking? (Other than rainy and miserable 😩)
I’m pretty tied to the house because of my puppy so I am going to batch cook a load of meals:

  • sausage chilli /casserole with wedges
  • mushroom chilli/hotpot
  • cottage pie - means I can double up the mince/veg prep along with the chilli
  • Prep all the veg for my Sunday lunch
  • scotch eggs.
  • bake some potatoes for lunch

I had a few glasses of wine last night, in addition to my days Syns so this week I’m deducting that from the week and that leaves me around 50 Syns across the 6 remaining days- aiming for 5-7 a day? I cannot keep doing ‘flexible Syns’

i’m going to sort my wardrobe today as well, finally time to get the autumn stuff down and get a lot of stuff on Vinted if I get chance.

I sat in bed this morning and read my SW book cover to cover, it’s good I think to refresh your mind on the ins and outs, and i feel quite motivated. I WANT 2lbs off this week so I’m focussing on that.

this was my dinner last night- frozen (thawed) cod, spread with Tom purée, a sprinkle of mixed herbs and HEx Parmesan. Really quick and tasty.

Have a great Saturday!

That sounds busy but productive! I now really want chilli. I'm following your lead on the batch cooking as if nothing is prepped I struggle and then either eat crap or don't bother. Neither a good option!

Currently have tomato soup on the go for lunches at work and gammon stew in slow cooker. Have a lot of diced chicken so maybe a curry is on the horizon.

1st weigh in this morning - 5.5lbs down (I've a lot to lose) so happy with that.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/10/2023 16:11

@NeverAloneNeverAgain that’s a great loss, well done 👍

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/10/2023 18:27

Not w great start. Dd school friend party. Lunch at yellow M

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/10/2023 06:46

I had a great day yesterday, probably the best Saturday I’ve had in a long time. I only ate 3 Syns but I ate loads of free food so I just didn’t need anything else, and I didn’t drink any alcohol. Went for a run in the afternoon as well. Really pleased with that. I’m basically just going to repeat again today. It helped to have a protein breakfast as it meant my HEB was available mid afternoon, I had Alpen light bars. I did some of my batch cooking so I have 5 meals of chilli and wedges in the freezer and a portion of cottage pie left from last night. I’m doing a roast chicken today and will have some of that left as well for a few more meals.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/10/2023 09:24

What protein breakie do you have ?

I sometimes have ham cheese pepper onion ommlette

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/10/2023 17:07

@Blondeshavemorefun i made some scotch eggs (boil some eggs and peel them, then get some mince (I used Turkey mince, season it really well) and squish it all up so it’s like sausage meat then sort of squish it round the egg. It sticks, then roll them round and seal up any breaks. Bake in the oven if air fryer until the meat is cooked, don’t overcook.
I’d also have yoghurt and chia and fruit, but you have to syn the chia, or you can make mini egg muffins with veg in? All good protein breakfasts.

Ralphiesaurus · 23/10/2023 21:15

0.5lb down this week - so now I'm a tantalising 0.5lb away from my 3 stone award. Can't believe I didn't make it this week! Mind you, given that I'm at my (interim) target I'm supposed to be able to flex 3lb up/3lb down so maybe I should chill out a bit until I decide on my final goal?!

A loss is a loss, right?

Am finding it difficult to choose a target (I know this is a daft problem to have... I can hear myself. But after YEARS of yo-yo-ing I don't want to choose a goal that's too low and make it impossible to maintain. I'm 53 which doesn't necessarily help, metabolism-wise...)

If I go for the "healthy" BMI I still need to lose another 2 stone. But after a long time of being borderline morbidly obese I'm actually really chuffed at the moment to just be "overweight".

Oh I'll work it all out - but this stuff can really mess with your head, can't it?
