Dry January to Decadent December: Slimming World Support Thread 2022

GettinTrimmer · 03/01/2022 09:40

All welcome Smile I joined Slimming World in November and so far lost 9.5lb, a bit of a gain over Christmas but getting there - I have around 3 stone to lose and I am looking forward to fitting into clothes not worn for a long time and have a big family wedding coming up. I would like to look like the slim, glamourous Aunt in the photos (without upstaging the bride!) Grin

@GettinTrimmer that's great! Wish I could say the same but did over indulge yesterday. There was "gin club" at local so had 3 not realising they were 35ml, not 25ml (I did know before I drank any but had already allocated 3 x 25ml in planner)
Anyway 1/2 lb off today, so will take my own advice and think of a pack of lard off my hips!
Eating at partner's son's tonight so will do my best without spoiling the evening. His partner is an excellent cook!

LittleDoritt · 22/01/2022 14:37

Blimey GettinTrimmer, that's a fab loss but amazing when you thought you were going to gain!

I'm having a good, focused week. Just ticking along.

ListenLinda · 22/01/2022 18:26

@GettinTrimmer that’s a fab loss well done! Just made a pasta bolognese for tea, salad on the side for my 1/3 speed.

My treat today is a honeycomb kit kat :)

Trying to get moving as much as possible now i’m back in the office as I find that it also keeps me motivated.

Does anyone have any plans for the weekend? It’s a quiet one for me but I am out twice next weekend so trying to be extra good for damage limitation!

GettinTrimmer · 23/01/2022 07:12

Losing track of time here - it's Sunday isn't it?!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants sounds like you've had a lovely break. I am hoping the stress will ease now my DM's flat has completed (been tearing my hair out). I have 4 weeks off work, after that hoping it will be less stressful.

Every cloud though 3lb off!! Smile

Wilma55 I like the sound of your gin club. I hope you enjoyed dinner?

LittleDorrit thanks. Good to hear you are feeling focused. I am hoping for a focused week - I have bought myself a new Slimming World planner, noted the date in 12 week's time and given myself a goal of 1lb per week. By that time I will be out of the obese category according to BMI.

ListenLinda Are you enjoying being back in the office? I like WFH when the IT works but it has the disadvantage of being disconnected from the team. Busy weekend for me have dsis staying, but she is calorie counting and doing dry January! We had a free veggie curry last night.

Another good day in the books. I seem to be on a roll this week. 4lbs needed until I get my first stone off. Don't think I'll get it this week as 4lbs is a massive weight loss for me - I tend to be a 1-2lbs kind of a gal - but with a bit of luck I'll get it by the 1st Feb. Have got a spa day booked with a group of slim and gorgeous friends mid-February so really could do with losing every pound I can

GettinTrimmer · 24/01/2022 19:18

I went on a spa with DD in August. We had a great time. Went home very chilled out.

Nice walk around park today with friend and the 🌞 was shining! Chicken tray bake tonight with curry paste for flavour. Hoping for a pound off by Saturday weigh in.

ListenLinda · 26/01/2022 20:06

@GettinTrimmer being back in the office is great. Nice to chat with my colleagues and I work much better, less distractions, less snacking!

A few of the people I work with decided to bring all their left over Christmas chocolates and sweets in though the other day Angry

LittleDoritt · 26/01/2022 20:51

2.5lbs off for me this week. 1.5 to go until I can join your stone club Wilma, Trimmer and Lefty!

Being a SAHM means that I don't have to worry about work colleagues feeding me up but it does mean that I'm left alone with the fridge all day Confused Seem to be in a good place this week though.

Dinner tonight was fajitas so higher in syns than I have been having but my day still comes in at 12 syns so not too bad, and yesterday was 8 so it evens out ok. I've been having a lot of stew/ casserole/ chilli type meals so it was good to have something a bit different.

Wilma55 · 27/01/2022 08:16

Well done @LittleDoritt! Nothing moving on my home scales so far, weigh in on Saturday. Had a chicken tray bake last night, jazzed up with some Thai green curry paste, it was delicious. Leftovers will become soup for lunch today.

GettinTrimmer · 27/01/2022 18:09

LittleDorrit well done! I am delighted to have lost my 16lb as I have been up and down steps moving my Dm into her new home - a lovely bright, warm one bedroom flat. It would have been much more exhausting before doing Slimming World.

ListenLinda we were talking about junk food dumping on a previous thread. It's annoying......there should be chocolate free January as well as dry January. It's hardest late morning just before lunch when hungry.

I have fallen off the wagon today Confused. I have been really tired as annoyingly I keep waking up at 4am so I blame that. I had a bag of crisps which is a trigger for me as it then expanded to a bit of cheese then chocolate. Getting back to plan with jacket potato with veggie chilli for dinner.

Weighed in today, maintained this week. How are you all doing?

Wilma55 · 29/01/2022 12:33

WI this morning and lost 1 lb, happy with that though annoyingly scales wavered on 1.5 loss before settling on 1!
Am cooking Lamb Tagine Hotpot (free) and Blackberry Betty (5 syns) from the magazine tonight. Hope they taste good!

ListenLinda · 29/01/2022 21:53

I find Friday afternoon is the worst. Thursday & Friday morning was so busy and then Friday had caught up, so was actually looking for things to do. About 3.30-4pm theres the lull, the sugar crash.

Me & DH went for a curry last night, I had lamb rogan josh as thats what my book told me was the lowest syn, got weighed this morning, 1.5lbs off and got half stone award Smile

Been out for a bottomless brunch today, I honestly dread to think. Need to be super good next few days!

LittleDoritt · 29/01/2022 21:54

Mmm, lamb tagine hotpot sounds lovely. Well done on your pound Wilma, you are so consistent.

Nice work on maintaining after falling off the wagon Trimmer.

I could have so easily caved today. Took my littlest out for the morning and the cafe we were in had biscoff cheesecake I had a Pepsi max and stayed strong. I mid-week weighed though and the scales haven't budged. It's so much easier to stay strong when you can see immediate positive results from it! Hopefully they'll have shifted by group on Tuesday morning.

LittleDoritt · 29/01/2022 21:59

Posted at the same time, well done on your loss and your award Linda! Fab!
I'm the same 3.30-4 is my absolute danger time as my blood sugar is always at it's lowest then. I've taking to having a banana and a muller light at that point to see me through the next couple of hours.
Can't imagine how many syns are in a bottomless brunch but I bet it was bloody lovely! Grin

Wilma55 · 30/01/2022 08:12

Sounds like a good week all round! There is a pon biscoff cheesecake recipe @LittleDoritt if you're desperate! Still a lot of syns though. Someone on Instagram said 1/2 hexa, 1/2 hexb and 8 1/2 syns....

ListenLinda · 30/01/2022 08:30

@LittleDoritt I suspect the food wasn’t so bad, but the alcohol and fruit juice in the cocktails will do the damage 🙈 have a bit of a sore head this morning too. Was nice to have some fruit and yog for breakfast. Not sure whats on the menu for the rest of the day.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 30/01/2022 09:57

Hi! Can I join you? I started slimming world last Saturday, so did 1 week so far and lost 6lbs on my first weigh in. Super chuffed with that and got to keep up the momentum not treat myself (like I did yesterday!)

This is a rejoin for me, ive actually already got to target before but piled back on 2st9lbs since lockdown which I'm quite disgusted and annoyed at myself for! So I know this diet works for me! I am gluten free, and dairy free with intolerances to fish, seafood, beef. My daughter is vegetarian so we eat alot of vegan dinners.

On the menu today is fry up for breakfast all free except the LM sausages which are 2 syns each so had 1. (My usual ones are free but didn't have them in Tesco yesterday)
Lunch i will use my GF sandwich thin (B) to make a pizza (syn the cheese 3.5 as cant find a vegan A choice) and a load of salad.
Dinner we have roast lamb/LM roast, homemade roasties, loads of veg, GF Yorkie for 2 syns and will allow 4 syns for the gravy.
That leaves me 4.5 syns for a treat so will crumble a few mini meringues (0.5 each) on strawberries and free Alpro plain yogurt.
My A choice is used on oat milk in my morning/evening tea.

I like taking photos of my meals which I then save in a separate album to look through when I get the doubts creeping in. Plus I did my measurements this time as I know some weeks we may not lose weight on the scales but lose inches on our bodies.

Wilma55 · 30/01/2022 13:54

Hello and welcome nocuts hopefully you will have lots of tips to share from your experience. I took my measurements when I joined and lost about 2.5" on my waist with a stone off. Pity theirs no where on the app to record it.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

ListenLinda · 30/01/2022 16:18

DC decided on meatballs and spaghetti for tea tonight, so i’ve got some 5% meatballs out. Today is all about damage limitation. I just want to eat crisps! Has anyone tried the new hifi bar yet? I think it’s the nicest one yet.

LittleDoritt · 30/01/2022 22:07

Thanks Wilma for the recipe. I'm finding that steering well clear of anything too "treaty" is working better for me at the moment than having little bits here and there. I need a complete resetting as I have no off switch at all. Hopefully I can learn some moderation as this journey progresses.

Welcome Nocuts! 6lbs in your first week is awesome, you must feel so pleased. I'm a rejoiner too but I managed to put five stone on and weigh more coming back than I did when I first started Blush

Looove the new hifi bar Linda! I normally only eat one or two a week for a treat and a box lasts me a while but I snarfed a whole box this week in about five days.

Welcome Nocuts what a fabulous loss on your first week.

I met up with a friend for lunch and had a tuna melt toasted sandwich....oops. But I can use healthy extra a cheese count syns for bread, tuna & mayo. Bit of coleslaw & salad. Drank 2 black coffees.

It's my dd's Birthday, she is 17 today. She wants a Chinese takeaway but they're closed this evening. We'll have one tomorrow I will do myself egg fried rice and I believe sweet and sour sauce is 1 syn per tablespoon. I will stir fry Quorn, peppers and onion. Will be nice.

Welcome @nocutsnobuttsnococonuts 🙂

Great loss for you @littledorrit you will see the stone in no time.

Fantastic result @Wilma55. Same thing happened to me. Scales moved at last second and stayed put so it looked like a 1 lbs loss than it was half.

I have tried the new hifi bars too and I am also impressed.

My last weigh in was almost a whole week ago with the half lbs and am due back on 2nd. I have been a way for a long weekend and said I wanted to maintain but think its more likely I have gained. Other than a fairly long walk one days not much exercise and I have eaten very well. Still I can't say there has been any regrets.

Hope your DD had a lovely birthday @GettinTrimmer. To be 17 again!
