All welcome Smile I joined Slimming World in November and so far lost 9.5lb, a bit of a gain over Christmas but getting there - I have around 3 stone to lose and I am looking forward to fitting into clothes not worn for a long time and have a big family wedding coming up. I would like to look like the slim, glamourous Aunt in the photos (without upstaging the bride!) Grin

Hi All. Matchmakers are quite 'cheap' on syns then? Sounds like you get more bang for your buck! Have recently discovered the Skinny Rocky Road bars, which are 2 for a HB or 3 syns each. Really nice, get then in Poundland. I got up at stupid o clock and went for a swim this morning, so Go Me Grin

GettinTrimmer · 11/01/2022 17:40

SpongeBobJudgeyPants Yes 1 matchmaker = 1 syn. Nice to nibble slowly! Rocky Road in Poundland? £1 per pack?! Iceland's Slimming World bars are £2.25 each cheaper in group at £1.95.

Good luck for Thursday ListenLinda tonight I am feeling lazy so it will be Slimming World chips, beans and poached egg. Followed by 2 matchmakers, apple and satsumas!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 11/01/2022 18:28

The Rocky road work out at 33p each, so cheaper and less syns! The Bliss bars are nice, but at 5 syns, more money than having a 2 finger kit cat for 5.5.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 11/01/2022 18:55

Turns out I am wrong. The rocky road is a 5 pack, making them 20p each.

Effitall · 11/01/2022 19:19

Evening all, hope you don’t mind if I join you?

I joined my local group last week, managed not to cry when I got on the scales (just about) and have stuck to plan 100% this week.

I bought a 12 week count down so I can focus on that date and where I am then, rather than making each weeks weigh in such a big thing if that makes sense?!

ListenLinda · 12/01/2022 12:42

How much is a 12 week countdown @Effitall and what do you get for that price?

Effitall · 12/01/2022 12:54

It is £59.50 (offer until the 15th Jan) and that gives me 12 weeks membership for the price of 10

GettinTrimmer · 12/01/2022 19:28

Welcome Effitall I've bought a 12 week plan too.

I have been sorting out DM's purchase of a flat in-between work, it's been stressful. I feel like scoffing a pile of cheese and biscuits, but I've used all my syns. I will make do with a large coffee. I'd like to get my stone award on Saturday!

It was my first weigh in tonight and I lost 3lbs. Happy with that! I probably could’ve lost more as I did get rid of a few Christmas chocolate bars but I’m terrible for going hard out at the beginning and getting overwhelmed so I’m trying to be realistic with this.

LeftyLou · 12/01/2022 22:46

Welcome @Effitall Smile

That is a great first week @Yorkshireteaalwayswins especially at the time of year it has just been.

Good luck for your stone award @GettinTrimmer rooting for you!

After getting my stone award last week I ended up gaining this week. 1 lbs taking me back down to 13.5 it was deserved and I am not going to let it deter me. My plan is to write everything down, plan my weekend and allow myself 8 syns each day with more leeway of 15 syns on the weekend.

Good luck for everyone for their weigh ins and the week ahead Smile

LittleDoritt · 13/01/2022 13:30

Hi all,
Sorry I've been awol this week, Gone a bit sideways here for some reason. I did so well through November and I can't seem to get my head back in the game this month. Having a 100% on plan day and then caving once the children are in bed, which isn't even usually my danger time. I gained a pound at weigh in on Tuesday which was so annoying after only gaining a half over Christmas week. Having loads of negative "I can't do this, there is no point trying" thoughts. Anyone got any good strategies to fight the food demons?
Hello to everyone who's joined while I've been hitting the biscuit tin!

GettinTrimmer · 13/01/2022 14:39

LittleDorrit what about.....a syns plate in the evening? I saw the idea on Instagram. You could save all 10 or whatever for the evening and have a couple of biscuits, matchmakers (1syn each!!) Padded out with fruit if you like it.

I understand the feeling of wanting to chuck it in I've joined SW several times something like this might help?

LeftyLou · 13/01/2022 18:30

Sorry you're feeling like this @LittleDoritt. The syn plate does look like a good idea.

positivevibesonly22 · 13/01/2022 18:35

Hi. Joined Tuesday. Been pretty good so far. Weigh in next Tuesday and will hopefully report back with some sort of loss! Well done everyone so far. I've just ordered the Slimming Foodie book which is currently £8 on Amazon. Apologies if anyones mentioned this already. Haven't caught up on the thread yet! RRP is £20 and gets very good reviews.

positivevibesonly22 · 13/01/2022 18:43

One thing I neeeed to do is start meal planning so I thought this new book, my Pinch of Nom books and the Hairy Dieters books might give me some inspiration 🙏🏼 didn't plan this evening but had lovely jacket spud, hexa cheddar and beans which was very nice 😊

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 13/01/2022 19:03

Hi All. And the new peeps. I weighed in today and lost 1,5, which takes me down to the next stone bracket. So quite pleased. Have booked a holiday next week, as on holibobs, so my plan is to walk a lot, and maintain rather than gain. The Nom books are in Aldi at the moment, and I have heard that some of the older ones are in the works. Stickers for syns are available from Ebay, but it wouldn't take loads to just work through the books syning stuff, I would imagine.

ListenLinda · 13/01/2022 19:27

Well, I did it. I rejoined tonight, was not a pleasant experience getting on the scales. But the group was so friendly and I won the raffle Grin when the kids have gone to bed i’m going to go through my books and plan for the week ahead!

ListenLinda · 14/01/2022 19:00

I am hungry today guys! And I need to go food shopping, thankfully two jacket spuds and salad should fill me up.

GettinTrimmer · 14/01/2022 19:04

I love the Hairy Dieters! I was watching them yesterday, they made afternoon tea muffins with blueberries. Looked lush.

Yorkshireteaalwayswins well done on your 3lb

SpongeBobJudgeyPants 1.5lb is great. I will be happy if that's me tomorrow but need 2lb for stone award. Have overdone my syns a bit.

ListenLinda what did you win in the raffle?

I am shattered just off for a bath and a bit of comfort TV later. How is everyone doing with exercise? Definitely makes a difference I always lose more when I've walked a lot.

I just joined this week. Scary stepping on the scales.. weight has just piled on! Knew it had but seeing in black and white was disturbing. Has to come off..been on plan all week but don’t feel it’s working as feel heavier than before I startedHmmProbably all psychological but will have to see what scales say.

ListenLinda · 15/01/2022 05:52

@GettinTrimmer a huge bag of maris piper potatoes, mushrooms, eggs, tin of toms, tin of beans, tin of tuna.

It was probably very cobbled together but appreciated as it means I didn’t have to rush out to the supermarker yesterday.

I am off to Aldi later - can’t wait to get stocked up.

ListenLinda · 15/01/2022 05:53

@OhFortheLoveOv you may get a pleasant surprise! Keep on, i’m sure you will have done fab!

GettinTrimmer · 15/01/2022 09:30

Back from group. Lost 1lb didn't make my stone this week; 13lb so far. Next week! I feel so much better for losing this weight. My knees are thanking me for it.

OP posts:
Yorkshireteaalwayswins · 15/01/2022 09:55

Well done @GettinTrimmer, still losing! You’ll hit that stone next week and it’ll feel amazing. I know what you mean about knees, mine have been bothering me for the last few months and it can only be my extra weight.

ListenLinda · 15/01/2022 09:59

No problem with knees, but my plantar fasciitis has returned since the weight has crept back on. It’s an eye opener to realise how many health problems are linked to weight.

What’s on everyone’s menu today?
