All welcome Smile I joined Slimming World in November and so far lost 9.5lb, a bit of a gain over Christmas but getting there - I have around 3 stone to lose and I am looking forward to fitting into clothes not worn for a long time and have a big family wedding coming up. I would like to look like the slim, glamourous Aunt in the photos (without upstaging the bride!) Grin

Hi all. WI later today. Not sure how that will go. Not been enormously focused this week... @Dahliasrule I do yoga, although fairly porky. I have balance issues due to some recently diagnosed brain damage, so adjust those sort of postures. It does seem to help me. @LeftyLou sometimes a maintain helps focus me on the week ahead. @LightandAiry did you do the sweet potato meal? Are you managing to keep up with the yoga?

LightandAiry · 19/11/2022 09:26

Hi all, weighed in and facing it - gained 2lb this week, but taking into account 1.5 lb loss last week it's a more or less maintain over past few weeks. Going out to dinner this evening I'm taking a synny pudding - making an Espresso cake - small piece for me.

I've just had a breakfast with plentiful tomatoes and mushrooms and big glass of water. I'm off out to meet friends now for coffee (no cake!).

I hope you are all doing OK? We'll need to start a new thread soon!

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants I ended up making a Butternut squash veggie stew, I don't want to lose the plot so keeping on. I'll report back as I need to use up the rest of the bns in a soup, must do that. I am keeping up with the yoga, it's great for me.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 19/11/2022 13:51

@LightandAiry I think sometimes just showing up to weigh at SW, and trying to eat proper healthy meals is a result. For me, even if I'm 'marking time' and showing up, but not losing, it's still better than going off it. That's pretty much why I buy the 6 week blocks, as well as getting a free week included. Just finishing the last of the pumpkin soup today, but still got remains of a squash in the fridge that I should soup, when I've bought more stock cubes!

Wilma55 · 19/11/2022 14:03

1/2 lb on for me today 😔 but did have fish and chip meal out on Thursday. 2 meals out in coming week. Just made a big pan of syn free soup and bought the soup book which someone recommended. All we can do is keep on keeping on! Good luck all next week! Oh the good news is we are getting a new consultant in January so hope she will be inspiring!

LightandAiry · 19/11/2022 14:29

Yes I need to show up Spongey as I've paid until Christmas Eve. I had a message from my GP inviting me to join Oviva, there is a free app and due to large volumes it will be 6 weeks until a nutritionist contacts me; it's help to try and reverse pre-diabetes. I think another stone and I'll be out of the danger zone. I ate far too many carbs yesterday it was a healthy B nightmare.

@Wilma55 yes keep going, sorry about 0.5 gain. Good luck with new Consultant. Mine is OK can do entertaining talks but no time to talk one to one and friendly with some but not others. I hope the nutritionist will help - it says on the app they agree a plan such as intermittent fasting etc that is doable. I think mine will be SW but making sure I don't overdo carbs. My cholesterol level is very low.

Dahliasrule · 19/11/2022 23:01

Sorry about your gain, Wilma, but half a pound is easily reversible and I am sure the fish and chips were delicious.
That’s a good way to think of it as a maintain, LightandAiry. It seems like you are planning ahead so I am sure next week will be a good result.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 22/11/2022 23:47

Hi all. Bit quiet on here for a bit but I was giving it a go on my own once mey referral classes ran out to see if I could keep doing a good job.

Well no. I didnt gain weight but nor was I losing any either so I dragged myself back to class on sat am (new group that fits with my other committments) and I'm back in a week one again.

Officially I've lost a stone since July when I first joined and I want to lose another half by christmas ideally but anything off is better than sts or a gain.

Wilma55 · 23/11/2022 13:23

Well done on (re)joining @DrMadelineMaxwell it's so hard to go it alone. Ell done on the stone. I'm determined to keep going to meetings till Christmas.

Out for a curry tonight. So far had 1 slice of toast and marmite for breakfast and soup for lunch - from the sw soup book, the chorizo and sweet potato one, not keen on it and neither is oh. Made bread from bread mix to go with it and it was a disaster so that was a bonus as meant I only had a tiny bit with the soup. Someone at group said chicken shashlick is a good choice for tonight so hope my will power holds.

LightandAiry · 23/11/2022 17:57

Hi @DrMadelineMaxwell well done for going back. I do Saturday and too, I'm paid up until Christmas Eve.

@Wilma55 enjoy your curry. Are you counting syns?

I've done OK for a Wednesday. Working from Home and it's incredible how little I have moved, sitting at the Dining room table. I can't face walking to my yoga class, intermittent rain. I hope for at least a sts this week taking into account meal at friends' Saturday evening. I need to drag myself out for a long walk tomorrow.

How is everyone else? It's very hard to keep the momentum going, but I'm trying as I don't want to undo the weight loss.

LeftyLou · 24/11/2022 21:50

How is everyone doing? Lost 1 lbs this week. Happy with that. Just keeping going and taking one day at a time.

Dahliasrule · 25/11/2022 02:15

Well done, LeftyLou.

I didn’t go to WI on Tuesday and have not been on plan at all. No major blowouts but lots of little cheats. I hope I haven’t spoilt my half stone loss but fear I probably have. Must go next week or it will be the beginning of the end.
Good luck all of you. I know lots of you do weigh in on Sat. Hope there are some pleasing results.

Wilma55 · 26/11/2022 10:31

WI this morning and 1.5 off! Pleased with that after 2 meals out this week (not to mention wine).

3 more weigh ins before Christmas cruise and hoping to get back into 🎯 range before I go.

Out tonight at a linedancìng charity do so should get plenty of steps in.

How did other Saturday weigher get on?

PieonaBarm · 26/11/2022 11:41

Hello everyone 👋 could I join? I've done SW for 20+ years and initially lost 5st and kept it off, but Covid induced kidney failure in 2021 led to dialysis, and massive issues with trying to get my bloods right led to a 2 stone gain. Thankfully I'm kind of recovered but now need to shift the last stone and a half.

My consultant shut the local group I was going to and tbh I didn't really gel with her so wasn't that bothered, so need to find a new "home" as it were. I've been weighing at random groups and shift work doesn't make it easy, but need to stick to it upto Christmas or I'll be back to square one in the new year! DH is mega supportive and will eat whatever I put in front of him bless him! I just need to get my head back into it!

LightandAiry · 26/11/2022 13:05

Well done on that 1lb @LeftyLou

@Wilma55 that's great 1.5lb off! Good luck for next 3 weeks before your cruise.

Welcome @PieonaBarm how awful re Covid it has a lot to answer for but good you've recovered. I'm with you on sticking until Christmas.

I weighed in this morning gained 1lb :( I was expecting a maintain. If I don't focus more the whole lot will go on again. 2lb gain last week now 1lb. I am just off for a fast walk to refocus on exercise, I've let that drop. Finding it hard but keeping on. I am thinking of doing 16.8. Not giving up SW but restricting times I eat. Keep going everyone.

We'll have to start a new thread soon. Up to 939 posts. Any ideas for a witty thread title?

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/11/2022 13:47

Well done all. Sorry been awol. Not been been very good but somehow not gaining

Carpediem15 · 26/11/2022 16:14

Afternoon - 1.5 off this morning but this is over 2 weeks as my OH wasn't well last week so couldn't go.
We have had 4 new people join today and 2 returners - consultant was amazed as she said the numbers usually drop 5 weeks before Christmas and has never known people join now.
Going away for Christmas so think I will have to get my meal planning done for the next 4 weeks without messing about so have a little leaway. Ordered the Slimming Eats Made Simple book today as it is half price on Amazon this weekend for delivery on 29th Dec. Really like her recipes and the last book and waited too long for it to come down in price before I bought it so ordered this one now.
Good Luck for the rest of the week.

Dahliasrule · 26/11/2022 16:39

Well done all. Some really good results. Sounds like you have a plan Lightand Airy.
Welcome, PieonaBarm.

Wilma55 · 26/11/2022 16:41

Well done @Carpediem15 and commiserations @LightandAiry. Good to see you @blondes. Welcome to @PieonaBarm, the consultant can make a big difference.
@Carpediem15 haven't tried those books. I bought the sw soup book but haven't particularly liked either of the ones I tried.
Re new members/rejoiners, I think they have had a free joining offer on.

LightandAiry · 26/11/2022 17:35

@Carpediem15 I saw baked oats with mincemeat recipe from Slimming Eats. It sounded lush. I am mince pie fan! Thanks for book suggestion I'll have a look.

Dahliasrule · 26/11/2022 18:15

Baked oats and mincemeat! Yum.

Carpediem15 · 27/11/2022 14:27

The Slimming Eats website is brilliant - loads of recipes and 7 day plans etc.

Dahliasrule · 27/11/2022 15:36

Just looked at Slimming Eats website. It is really good. Thanks, Carpediem 15.

LightandAiry · 28/11/2022 10:39

I have just had a gorgeous breakfast - from Slimming Eats website as mentioned earlier - baked oats with small layer of mincemeat. I had an orange on top & a bit of extra low fat Greek yogurt. Comforting and festive.

Hope you are all doing OK. I am keeping on.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/11/2022 14:29

Hi All. Baked oat recipe sounds nice @LightandAiry well done for cracking on with the excercise. I've fallen off the wagon on that lately. Welcome to @PieonaBarm .

Been away for a few days, with included yummy breakfasts. Managed to come down with a bad headcold, so avoiding dairy which rules out the plain yoghurt which keeps me going on fruit. Trying to concentrate on soup etc, but can't say I feel like it much. Concentrating on Keeping On!

LightandAiry · 28/11/2022 15:02

Hi @SpongeBobJudgeyPants I was wondering how you're doing nice to see you. The yummy breakfasts sound good! I loved the baked oats & will be doing them again. For work I will be making them into breakfast muffins. I know what you mean about soup. I have butternut squash, sweet potato, leeks and onion in the slow cooker for my soup - real bottom of the fridge!

I hope you feel better soon.

Anyway, I may decide to leave my group after Christmas - still do Slimming World, but now I have a free NHS app and will be advised by a Dietician it's time to leave. I haven't greatly gelled with my consultant; on the happy clappy round she said on SW can have loads of carbs. I have to cut off down as I am pre-diabetic. The weight loss has improved it, but piling up my plate with pasta or potatoes is not advisable - it can be confusing as a third of the plate should be carbs so Having a mountain of spaghetti with a bit of bolognese on top is not on plan? [Confused]
