All welcome Smile I joined Slimming World in November and so far lost 9.5lb, a bit of a gain over Christmas but getting there - I have around 3 stone to lose and I am looking forward to fitting into clothes not worn for a long time and have a big family wedding coming up. I would like to look like the slim, glamourous Aunt in the photos (without upstaging the bride!) Grin

Hope you are feeling better now, Vanderpump.
had my weigh in tonight. STS. Bit disappointed as if I had lost the pound, I would have made the half stone.
Have ordered lots of soup ingredients with my supermarket delivery tomorrow, hoping that will be helpful to get that lb.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 02/11/2022 08:26

Planning is always a good idea @LightandAiry will be nice to see the offspring though I find becomes more of a challenge, and I always feel obliged to take them out or treat to a takeaway, so you've got a plan, which is ace. @Vanderpump covid is the pits. IIRC because I couldn't taste stuff, synny food had less of an appeal. @Dahliasrule that's disappointing, but should come off by next week. Soup is often the answer I think, if you can avoid my mindset of it needs a crusty roll or similar to go with it!

LeftyLou · 03/11/2022 12:45

How is everyone doing? Weighed in yesterday after a weeks holiday. 5 lbs on! So really got to focus on getting that back off. I really don't want to be doing that all the way til Christmas. I have bought a lot of veg to make soups too. Think that is the surest way I'll get my speed in. I just need to really tone down my snacking as I find I eat just for the sake of it.

The scales did something cruel. I am now currently 11 stone 12 and when I stepped on they went up to 12 stone 0.5 before settling back down. That would have been over a half stone gain in two weeks if they stuck.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/11/2022 18:26

Sounds like you have a handle on it @LeftyLou . If it makes you feel any better, I once managed 9llbs gain, most of which I think was a very boozy weekend with dsis pre children. Speed is the answer I think, as you've said. I've lost 1/2 a lb at WI which is pretty good considering huuuuge birthday cake, although I stopped after 2 pieces on different days, and fortunately have now given remains away. I'd like to shake a bit more off before Christmas.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/11/2022 20:50

Sorry for gain and well done for losses

I’ve been so so this week so will prob gain tomorow

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/11/2022 12:45

Sts. I’m good with that as havnt bern good lol

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 04/11/2022 12:59

Sounds like a result Blondes!

LightandAiry · 05/11/2022 09:44

Hi all, weighed in and gained 1.5lb. Mainly yesterday, no time to work off meal out last night & was bad this week despite my good intentions, bit of comfort eating. It's given me a kick and I am sitting here going through the books again - back to basics.

Does anybody have any suggestions to avoid comfort eating?

Wish I'd sts Blondes, good result.

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants well done, especially as we know how easily it can go on. Speed is the answer I agree. I have a very big butternut squash, thinking of spiced bns soup for lunch.

@LeftyLou sorry about gain, hope you had a lovely holiday. Part of the reason for my gain was nostalgia for my Spanish holiday, shared a bottle of red wine last Saturday made into Sangria!

@Dahliasrule good luck for next weigh in, it should come off as Spongey says.

Hope you are all doing OK.

Dahliasrule · 05/11/2022 09:56

Hi all.
Don’t worry, Leftylou, my theory is if it goes on quickly it comes off quickly and it is to be expected with a holiday.
Blondeshavemorefun, sts sounds fair and gives you something to work on.
Lightandairy, although way in next Tues. I am in same boat with comfort eating. Had some really tired days and I think subconsciously I feel eating something will give me a lift. I should really go for a walk instead.
Well done, SpongeBobJudgeyPants.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 05/11/2022 13:36

@LightandAiry we've all been there. Sure you'll do better at next WI. I'm concentrating on speed currently. Have a pumpkin from the allotment, that I intend to transform to soup today, assuming it's still ok when I get in it. Also, a random squash that we were gifted as a baby plant, so no idea, but it should soup or roast. We can compare soup results later!
@Dahliasrule thanks. I think/know that the walk would be a good idea here too. I just n!eed to tell my legs. I've done a couple of yoga classes this week, which have helped me, apart from wanting to do damage to the annoying man who always arrives late, stomps in, then does competitively loud exhalation in the relaxation bit!
I think I need to catch up with some podcast from the app, as it does actually seem to help, even when I haven't been fully aware of it. Gets my head in the zone a bit more.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 05/11/2022 13:41

@LightandAiry re comfort eating, I wouldn't say I've cracked it, but the following have been helpful to me (sometimes)

Tidying up my surroundings. Makes me feel calmer. I know that I have a pile of clothes in my bedroom, that need sorting and putting away. Will feel better when done.

A nice bath with a book or music?

I also have the Calm app, which has sessions on Mindful Eating and generallly chilling. They help.

Also, if I can take small steps to address an issue, if something is stressing me , feels more in my control somehow.

Good luck Flowers x

Carpediem15 · 05/11/2022 20:14

Bit of a shock this morning + 1.5 lbs. Honestly don't know why, made a bit of a bugger of the 1.5 stone certificate I got last week.
Just going to carry on and hope it rights itself next week although my clothes seem a better fit this week and got back in my 12 jeans. It is the first time I have gained since I have been doing this so will forget about it and plan for next week. Think I will do SP and see how that goes and leave out the Skinny Bars.
Good Luck to everybody else. 😋

LightandAiry · 06/11/2022 06:35

I managed to stay on plan yesterday, taking things day by day. I used my syns on a small KitKat and ginger oat cakes while watching Strictly last night. I'm posting horribly early for a Sunday, but annoyingly I am waking up early.....

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants thanks for suggestions, I have to do a big tidy up, seeing the house looking in order does help. I have the Headspace app; I've found the sleep casts helpful in the past. I am thinking for comfort food today I should use the leeks I have in the fridge - saw a YouTube video from AtHomeWithChelle she made a leek and potato soup. Also I am following Jamie Oliver on Instagram he did a lush minestrone.

@Dahliasrule I enjoy walking, as soon as it gets light now it's not raining I will take myself out round the park. In the recent Slimming World podcast with Mr Sleek Ryan Quinn he talked about someone taking a letter out with them when walking as they were self conscious and that's a reason for going out walking! I can't say I am bothered about the neighbours wondering why I often walk up and down my road!

@Carpediem15 sorry about gain sometimes the scales are odd. But that's brilliant re your size 12 jeans. My DD is snaffling my skinny bars & taking them to college, I seem to be giving them up as they're disappearing!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/11/2022 16:01

@LightandAiry further thoughts on 'comfort' food. Just made rice pudding in the slow cooker, with one part pudding rice to two parts sugar free cream soda. Really nice! I think it might technically be a 'tweak' but SW consultant didn't comment when it was mentioned in group. Great in the colder weather.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/11/2022 16:04

I have mixed thoughts on the skinny bars, and high fi bars. Would sooner have a 2 finger kit-kat for 5.5 syns. I tend to see the bars psychologically as food with less syns, then not 'count' them properly. I seem to be more restrained around the kit cats, which is odd!

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/11/2022 17:55

The salted caramel are lush skinny whip

LightandAiry · 06/11/2022 18:22

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants I would never have thought of cream soda for rice pudding - you mean cream soda drink in a tin or something? I think Kit Kat may make you feel you're eating 'real' chocolate!

Roast dinner is cooking now, no stuffing or yorkies, piles of veg. Having a good day🤞

@Blondeshavemorefun I think I've had those. I've just got myself some Alpen bars I think they can be HEX B.

Wilma55 · 07/11/2022 09:10

Keep on keeping on @Carpediem15 I'm sure it will soon be another loss. Like the idea of the cream soda rice, never heard of that one! I never buy the SW bars but do get the Alpen Light or Aldi benefit bars, 2 for a hexb. I think they are a bad habit really. Had guests Saturday night and made Thai salmon traybake which was all healthy stuff apart from the full fat coconut milk. Also made Bakewell Tart and Biscoff cheesecake so not a good day syn wise.

However I had WI that morning after 2 weeks and 1.5 off, dread to think what next week will bring.

Weighed out my cereal this morning and was surprised how little 45g is!

Carpediem15 · 07/11/2022 11:42

I hate stuffing but the women at my group use a couple of LM veggie sausages rolled into balls as stuffing (they are free).
Yes Wilma I am keeping on going but hope I am not being too obsessive. Had to hide the large stock of peanut butter Skinny bars, I buy them in the £1 shop when they have them.

Carpediem15 · 07/11/2022 11:43

Wish I could edit - the LM sausage that are free are the Red Onion ones.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/11/2022 12:08

@LightandAiry yes, cream soda in a can. Asda and Sainsbos do a diet version in a bottle.
@Carpediem15 the sausage thing sounds like a plan! @Wilma55 I tend to avoid cereal/oats as HexB as it looks so little! Prefer to see it in bread or something. I get the Warburtons small no added sugar wholemeal, and you can have two slices, which I enjoy as a sandwich.
@Blondeshavemorefun the caramel skinny b sounds lush! I do know of people who chop them up, and ration them, but I don't think that would work for me!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/11/2022 12:11

@LightandAiry you may well be onto something about 'proper chocolate'. If this is a lifestyle, rather than a quick fix, and it does need to be 'forever' eating for me, then it feels more normal/sustainable, and I feel less deprived somehow Smile

LightandAiry · 07/11/2022 14:13

Things are going OK today so far. I had a large omelette for breakfast - 3 eggs, but it filled me up until lunch. Just had butternut squash soup for lunch.

*@Carpediem15 thanks for the stuffing tip, I'd never have thought of that.

@Wilma55 those puddings sound lush, years since I've made a Bakewell tart. Well done on your 1.5lb

*@SpongeBobJudgeyPants I have a pack of 15 Kitkats got them for DD but she prefers my skinny bars so I'm eating them. I just have to stop at one as syns. I had 2 ginger oat cakes this lunch, 2 syns each, with a vanilla yogurt - was lush

LightandAiry · 08/11/2022 11:05

Morning all, I found a secret weapon....All Bran 50g for HEX B, with free Greek Yogurt & fruit including a banana. I still feel full, not slightly tempted by cake in Costa, waiting for 15 minutes after having flu jab in one arm and Pfizer in the other!

Dahliasrule · 08/11/2022 11:15

Carpediem15, sure it is just a blip. Well done at getting 1.5 mark and for the size 12 jeans! I bet next week will bring a good loss.
LightandAiry, well done for getting back on plan.
I am not sure I could stomach All brain even with all the other goodies.
One thing I am not changing is my morning porridge, no sugar, semi-skimmed milk. It is lovingly mad each morning by DH and is delicious. Rather a generous Hex B as nothing is measured out!
Dreading WI this evening, because although not been ridiculously overboard have had lots of little ‘ cheats’.
