6 stone to lose. Help!

Hi everyone,
Just looking for encouragement and support. Starting a new group tomorrow. 10 years ago I had a successful stint and lost 3 stone in 6 months. Had lots of unsuccessful goes since then but I really have to make it work this time. Got foot surgery coming up so it's a medical requirement as much as for confidence and general health.
I would just love to "chew the fat" ...😂 Ha ha, not literally!!!... with other new starters.

That is superb @50FootWave you will see the next number down on the scales in no time Smile

One of the women at group last night was saying there were buffets and fuddles going on at her work and she kept saying to herself I can't have that I can't have that. Not sure about anyone else but if I tell myself I can't have something I am more likely to end up over eating it and ending back at square one.

50FootWave · 02/12/2021 09:15

Thanks, @LeftyLou. Hope so!

I'm the same - I also have a massive appetite so sometimes it's best to just not even open the door to the beast! So I tell myself I can have it, but I just don't want it. Why is food so complicated??!!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 02/12/2021 12:52

Hi All. Not been around a few days, as have a lurgy, and it's leaving me feeling rather woolly headed. Missed my weigh in today as really not up to it, but will get weighed in on Saturday morning rather than miss it, as previous experience says if I miss it completely, I think I've got leeway, which is only cheating myself.

Well done on the losses, hugs and sorry for those who are stressed.
@Asinglepringle TMI alert. On weigh in day, I weigh in at the morning session, so no breakfast, always wearing the same clothes. I have a cup of strong coffee, which usually means I weigh in in the state you mention!

I wondered about the changes too, as someone upthread said, just got my head around the current system. Is it an indication that I am old, as when I see something billed as 'exciting changes' I just think 'what fresh hell is this?' :)

LightandAiry · 02/12/2021 17:02

I found out today that my colleague pre-ordered me the Honeycomb cheesecake at Prezzo for meal tomorrow evening, which is 30 syns I believe. Oops...I will ask if I can swap it for a cappuccino! My fault as I didn't specify which cheesecake Confused

I avoided the Cadbury's Hero's today at work. Also the biscuits.

I've not exercised much this week but hope for good news on the scales. It's nice to feel I can control the overeating. Just about to start a free veggie chilli with rice. Can't warm up my feet are cold.

LeftyLou brilliant! Really good loss.

50FootWave I will be made up if I can lose the same amount Saturday!

Wilma55 · 02/12/2021 20:02

Rumours are true, new Members Pack going to be out by Christmas.

Asinglepringle · 03/12/2021 07:19

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants hope you're feeling better now! Flowers

How was the meal @LightandAiry ? Honeycomb cheesecake sounds amazing, but I don't think I would be able to deal with all that sugar anymore Good luck for weigh in tomorrow Smile

Please keep us updated on the changes @Wilma55.

I got the job I went for, so really happy with that. Had a modest celebration last night at Spoons with DD - jacket potato with beans and cheese (as second HExA) and a bottle of sparkling water yes water! (Not sure who I am sometimes then remember I'm just a more sensible version of me Xmas Grin)

LittleDoritt · 03/12/2021 11:14

It's so nice to see the thread so busy! Loads of catch up on but it looks like everyone is doing so well.
2.5lbs off for me this week which makes 11lbs in total. Just need three more pounds to get my stone before Christmas - that should be motivation enough to say no to a few mince pies and mulled wines Grin
Going to read through properly now and catch up on all your news.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 03/12/2021 11:25

Morning all! @Asinglepringle thanks. Well done on the job! @LittleDoritt well done, would be nice to crack that stone wouldn't it. I'm still feeling a bit rough, but doesn't seem to have driven me into the kitchen much, so that's good. keep wondering what SW changes are acoming...

LittleDoritt · 03/12/2021 11:30

Congrats on your new grandchild Wilma. How lovely.

Freedom day is nearly here 50Foot! Hope you aren't going too mad stuck in. Nice work on the 2lb loss.

Well done on the fab loss Lefty and SOW. I never get SOW - someone who loses huge amounts but never stays to group always gets it so it's always a bit anticlimatic. Plus we bring in fruit for the basket every week and then it just gets raffled as she's never there to claim it. It annoys me irrationally!

Sorry you are poorly Sponge. I'm exactly the same with "exciting new changes" - just want to plod on in a predictable way and know exactly what I'm doing!

Fantastic news about the job Single. Congratulations!

Total TMI post here, but for some reason eating healthily and losing weight always brings on the period from hell for me. I've got the implant so normally don't get periods at all, but I did Whole 30 last years and basically had a four week period for the entire thing. Started about five days after starting Slimming World a month ago and have now just flipping started again after only two weeks of not bleeding. It's so annoying! Stupid body.

Anyway, am resisting the urge to drown my period pains with hot chocolate.

SW 15 6.5 BMI 40.8
CW 14 9.5 BMI 38.8

Nice not to be morbidly obese any more!

LeftyLou · 03/12/2021 17:08

I am sure that will be the first and last time I get SOW, someone put in an item in the basket that was 5.5 syns!!! Talk about sabotage Grin That does sound annoying @LittleDoritt surely they should give it to the next person. That would seem a lot fairer. Huge congrats on your weight loss this week! Smile

Also an options hot chocolate with light squirty cream and 10 mini marshmallows only 4 syns. I love to have one on a weekend as a treat with milk from my healthy extra allowance.

I tried on a coat I got for my birthday a few years a go. It is one of the few clothing items I refused to throw away. Really want to fit into I would love my birthday but that is in February so definitely this time next year. Using it as an inspiration.

Hope everyone is doing okay and has a great weekend.

LightandAiry · 03/12/2021 17:22

I've just looked out something to wear for the work Christmas meal this evening; a skirt I last wore 2 years ago and a sparkly jumper. I am pleased I fit into them, before I lost this 9lb, the skirt would have been tight. Also borrowing my dd's Doc Martin's. She thinks her generation are the first to wear them, even though I told her I wore them in 1995. Not with a mini skirt these days though!

I think the weight I have lost has made a difference. Easier to climb stairs getting into work this morning.

I know what you mean SpongeBobJudgyPants exciting new changes equals something else to get used to. Now I want to know what they are!

AsinglePringle meal is this evening; I've had 2 apples to fill up just now and I may even avoid the cheesecake altogether as weigh in tomorrow. Feeling dedicated. Well done on your job and sounds like a good celebration lunch to me!

LIttleDorrit well done superb 2.5lb. I don't think I will lose that tomorrow, but all crossed.

LightandAiry · 03/12/2021 17:24

LeftyLou 5.5 syns?! I won SOW 2nd week, I proudly look at my fridge magnet every morning.

Asinglepringle · 04/12/2021 09:16

Morning all! Well done everyone, looks like we're staying nicely on track Grin

Thanks for all the congratulations on the job. Felt a bit worried as I was told I was up against a very strong field of applicants. I now think they just say this to either put you off altogether or make you try harder. Thoughts anyone?

Christmas decs for us today so lots of clearing and cleaning. (Irrationally excited for my age). Also getting a bit of exercise too with the hoover- win win!

DD finally chosen the wallpaper for the chimney breast in her bedroom so that's another job to complete this weekend. By rights I should lose half a stone today - reality I might lose 1lb this week 🤣

Good luck if you're weighing in today - positive vibes going your way!!

LightandAiry · 04/12/2021 11:02

Thanks Pringle I weighed in today - lost 0.5lb. I am pleased it's something in the right direction. In my experience any good job has 'a strong field of candidates' and when I have been turned down I was told there were so many good people applying and this is why, competition too strong...so it would have genuinely been you as the best candidate, well done.

I've had nothing to eat as yet was very full from my meal last night - it was lovely, Prezzo's salmon and prawn risotto. Not used to eating something that full fat so it was very filling. No dessert, just a cappuccino.

I have already done 10000 steps and determined to have a good week! Hoping for 2lb next week. Is

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 04/12/2021 13:29

Hi All.

Weighed in this morning after 10 days, and pleased to lose 3llbs! Will be back to normal weigh in day next week, so not expecting great results, but pretty pleased considering I haven't felt up to going to the gym etc.

@LittleDoritt I'm a similar BMI to you. Nice to see it come down isn't it. @LeftyLou @LightandAiry there's something ever so slightly fabulous about getting back into clothes that were out of reach before isn't there?! @Asinglepringle the crimbo decs raises a dilemna in our house. Last year we had a wall tree, after years of grumpily barely tolerating it being in the way in the corner, and now we have a wall clock that is old and temperamental, so daren't risk it being off the wall for the wall tree. Otherwise come January The Man Will Have To Come and fiddle with it again, and tutt at us for not looking after his baby properly I may end up having Christmas twig again.

Asinglepringle · 05/12/2021 12:02

Well done @LightandAiry and @SpongeBobJudgeyPants on your losses. So good when we see those numbers going dowwwn!

Decs only half up for us, bought a new tree this year, turns out it's not pre-lit so had to scour the shops for lights and could only get one box of 100. It's a 7 ft tree haha. Might have to get the old one out for one last time (I know, first world problems and all that )

Why did you have to look after Clock Man's baby @SpongeBobJudgeyPants ?

So I succumbed to a KFC rice box for tea last night but without any dressing. Not sure of the syns but it was bloody good Blush(especially with the extra fillet for only £1). I'll call it 15, but I've been keeping low all week so hopefully not too much damage. I'll find out in the morning with weigh in!

Enjoy Sunday everyone, we're on our way to looking extra fabulous for Christmas !GrinGrin

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 05/12/2021 19:48

Sorry @Asinglepringle, the clockman doesn't have a baby, the clock is like his baby as it requires careful handling, and he's been out to it such a lot. Glad you enjoyed your KFC. According to the app, those syns sound right. No decorations up at here at all. I'm contemplating getting out the Christmas mugs, which now live in a cupboard in the dining room. They used to live in the garage, where DH has unilaterally assumed control of space allocation. Last year they couldn't be found at all, and turned up about March. Seems like I resort to bringing in anything I need to know where it is, which somehow seems easier than tackling the garage/man cave issue. I don't think I'm actually going anywhere at Christmas, but will be nice to have more room in my Christmas jumper. With the exception of I am playing the drum with my band at a gig in Christmas week (it's a bodhran drum, so not as hip as it sounds) so would be good to be thinner for that.

LittleDoritt · 05/12/2021 22:37

Well done Light. Fantastic work Sponge!

We cracked open the Quality Street and a bottle of booze last night. Probably an error Grin But have been very good apart from that small hiccup, which isn't bad considering how close we are to Christmas.(excuses excuses)

Wilma55 · 06/12/2021 10:54

@LittleDoritt we had maltesers which was damage limitation at 2 for a syn!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/12/2021 11:04

@LittleDoritt. How big a vessel of quality street? Grin @Wilma55 2 syns seems like a lot for a very small malteser. To me. Depends how much you like them. My system is save enough syns for a small kit cat, and eat in bed, so I'm unlikely to go looking for something else! Mainly. :)

LittleDoritt · 06/12/2021 13:02

Wellllll.. they are 2.5 syns each so probably about 30 syns worth if I'm honest Confused Plus another 15 syns for booze. But that was over the course of the entire weekend and my meals were syn free so could have been much worse.

In looking that up I've just discovered Matchmakers are 1 syn each! I could eat a days worth of syns in about five minutes with those.

Like someone else said, I really need to keep myself in check and not let Christmas last a month. I have one mulled wine date this week, and one "beige buffet", then a Christmas meal next week. That's only three meals out of about thirty. Must must must stay on track for the other twenty seven!

Wilma55 · 06/12/2021 15:39

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants the maltesers are 1/2 syn each,
2 = 1 syn so not too bad if you eat them slowly!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/12/2021 15:50

Oh, ok Wilma, I read that wrong! Blush

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/12/2021 15:52

@LittleDoritt 1 syn for a matchmaker sounds good! I would be ok with the minty ones I think, as not sure I would keep eating, after about 6...

Asinglepringle · 06/12/2021 20:13

Oh @SpongeBobJudgeyPants GrinI'm such an idiot! I was picturing a grumpy clockmaker wearing those magnifying glasses things that you pull over your real specs, carrying his baby round on his hip whilst tutting loudly because you refused to look after it whilst he fixed your clock! HmmWinkGrin

All this talk of chocolate is doing me no good at all.

Weighed in this morning- 3/4lb off
Starting weight- 13st 10lb
+/-: -3/4lb
Current weight: 12st 9 1/4lb

Really slowed down now, didn't drink enough water every day and I think I need to start moving more. Painting and decorating is ok, but doesn't raise the heartbeat too much! Might jump on the exercise bike for 20/30 mins (it's just so boring and tedious- spend the whole time thinking about everything else I could be doing)

Had some cheese tonight and really fancied a glass of cold Chardonnay to go with it - but resisted!
