6 stone to lose. Help!

Hi everyone,
Just looking for encouragement and support. Starting a new group tomorrow. 10 years ago I had a successful stint and lost 3 stone in 6 months. Had lots of unsuccessful goes since then but I really have to make it work this time. Got foot surgery coming up so it's a medical requirement as much as for confidence and general health.
I would just love to "chew the fat" ...😂 Ha ha, not literally!!!... with other new starters.

I chickened out of WI today, will go to "weigh and go" on Friday. We are out for NYE and can't remember what food I chose. I expect drink will be consumed! Should we have a new thread for new year do you think?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/12/2021 15:41

I would vote yes Wilma, as the original OP for this thread hasn't been back lately.

LightandAiry · 28/12/2021 16:14

SpongeBobJudgeyPants either food diary for 3 days or start again on 1st January, whatever you have headspace for. 1st January is only Saturday. Is your DH doing Slimming World with you or doing his own thing.

Wilma55 I like the idea of a new thread title can't think of one though. Shall we start it 1st or 2nd January?

I am eyeing up the Toblerone but resisting so far. Have the last of the satsumas in front of me they'll have to do!! Very challenging.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/12/2021 16:50

Toblerone! Tis Kryptonite. Yes, a food diary would be a really good idea. I vote 1 January for New Fred, as that appeals to my anal retentive mind. Grin I am intending to go on excercise bike when DH has gone to work tonight, but I have just despatched DM and DSD, and honestly, I feel quite cream crackered. Logically I know that if I get on it, with headphones and a podcast , that half an hour will be doable...I shall keep telling myself that! I think I will freeze the leftover cheese, and save for nibbling NYE. I don't drink, so all oversynage will be on grub rather than drink.

LightandAiry · 29/12/2021 20:22

Toblerone, Quality Street, mince pie and cheese after work...oops. Fresh start Saturday.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/12/2021 11:21

Oh. Sounds enjoyable tho. I have my day of reckoning at weigh in tomoz. Not looking forward to it, oddly Grin

Wilma55 · 30/12/2021 12:16

I'm weighing tomorrow too. Just found out that the leader (?) at the Tuesday group I had started going to, is only temporary so not sure what to do. Tomorrow was going to be a proper group but now is a weigh and go, get new books and replace stickers. Same price though!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/12/2021 15:08

Wilma, that is what my DM would have called a swizz. Weigh and go should not be the same price. Sure a lot of people need a bit of a pep talk to get back on track. Can you scope out another group, as mine isn't pay and go, as far as I am aware? Will be a bit naffed off if it is!

Wilma55 · 31/12/2021 08:12

To be fair @SpongeBobJudgeyPants I've just found out that as SW has changed the day itself you can miss it and not have to pay for missed week or lose a week of a 6/12 week plan, so guess my choice if I go. Pity that wasn't made clear from the get go though.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 31/12/2021 08:42

Ah... I did consider not going last week, but having weighed (not stayed, but my choice) I did think it slowed up the eating a bit Cake Grin

Wilma55 · 31/12/2021 10:14

I stayed the same which I am happy with! I think weighing in does help you keep a bit of control. Admittedly went early before I had breakfast....
Holiday booked for next week as, Boris permitting, we are away for long weekend.
I'm one pound away from my first stone.
Good luck everyone for next year. 🍀

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 31/12/2021 11:02

That's a good result Wilma, well done. I discovered it was in fact pay and p**s off when I got there, which wasn't great, but I have lost the mince pie pounds I gained the week before, so same weight as mid December, which I'm more than happy with. Will consider a different class in New Year, as leader is really disorganised and mumbles Grin

LightandAiry · 31/12/2021 20:15

Happy New Year's Eve....I weigh in on Sunday and not looking forward to it. Had chocolate biscuits at work and was on phone to IT for over an hour. But tomorrow is a new start and I am going to Park Run! Or in my case Park amble but at least I'm going Smile

I hope the others come back soon...
Wilma well done on your sts

SpongeBobJudgeyPants sounds good to me mince pie lbs eliminated.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 01/01/2022 10:30

Happy New Year everyone! @LightandAiry thanks. Go weigh, it's probably better than you think. Particularly if you offset it with Parkrun. Parkamble is better than what I'm doing, which is parking my bum on the sofa. In my defence, have had bad reaction to booster on Thursday, as have a lot of people. Will recover, and start recording my syns/hx A & B again! Onwards and upwards!

LittleDoritt · 01/01/2022 10:45

Happy New Year everyone!

I seem to have put on around 4-5lbs according to my at-home-scales BlushGrin but I have until Tuesday to get some of it off before the official weigh in. Not too worried, we have a whole fresh year in front of us so it'll all come off at some point.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas (week after Christmas for Light) and that Covid has exited your homes along with the old year! I have minor chest infection which I'm keeping an eye on, but it's not too bad yet and hopefully can be kept at bay.

Having a slow morning - just drinking my coffee and surverying my bombsite house. Children back at school on Wednesday so am resigned to the chaos until then really!

LightandAiry · 01/01/2022 15:10

Hi all, new year, more determination, back on track..... there are 2 mince pies left, a Hotel Chocolat fondue set, tortilla chips and a box of chocolate biscuits. Not too bad unless eaten all at once! Oh and some cheese.

Planning meals for the week and tomorrow's weigh in moved from today hopefully not too much of a gain 🤞🤞

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 01/01/2022 15:35

Hi Light! We have 1x mince pie left, DH is taking it for his break at work. I don't love them, but will occasionally indulge for a sweet fix if they're in the house. Choccie bicks can maybe be donated if you can't ration? I can't, maybe you can. Our SW is having a food amnesy for local food bank. Tortilla chips the same? Or will DC's or OH scoff those for you?

LightandAiry · 01/01/2022 18:24

Hi SpongeBobJudgeyPants dd will demolish the tortilla chips. Ds wouldn't take the chocolate biscuits back to university could put them in Sainsbury's food bank. Quality Street is a problem.

Anyway DD had no sleep last night. I got her out of room to mash potatoes and she put cheese and cream in them. I've not had my HEX A so I'll estimate that's my cheese and not sure how much for cream! Apart from that I've had a good day....but didn't go to Park Run! I was busy catching up with housework (ugh) and I am just off for a walk to see the Christmas lights before they're taken down.

Are we still thinking of starting a new thread?

LightandAiry · 02/01/2022 09:39

Morning all weighed in earlier at group. Gained 2lb but would have been many more if I hadn't joined SW!!

How are you all?

Wilma55 · 02/01/2022 11:35

Good result @LightandAiry. I agree that weighing in at a group helps keep on track.

Have been trying to think of a witty title for new thread but not come up with anything. There is already a 2022 thread for new starters. Any ideas?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 02/01/2022 11:46

No idea @Wilma55 I'd just got over covid brain, and now seem to have booster and menopause brain! @LightandAiry that's not too bad? You could have that gone by next week. How does it feel? Not too downhearted I hope.

LightandAiry · 02/01/2022 13:31

SpongeBobJudgeyPants I am not disappointed by the 2lb gain and not surprised, last week was always going to be tricky. I am refocusing.

Wilma55 me neither with witty thread titles. Only naff ones such as Sizzling by Summer or Lose 1.5 stone by Easter....I'll try and think. I've seen other threads on weight loss chat that do a thread month by month so we could just do Lose 7lb in January - Syn the biscuits and booze - January challenge lose 7lb or something like that

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 02/01/2022 14:27

Light, I was comparatively pleased when I gained that the previous week. It felt like it could have been much worse. And it focused me to lose it. Wilma, all I would say, is our SW leader has named the fb page Ethel's Slinky Slimmers. Her name isn't Ethel, but you get my drift. It gives me an unreasonable sense of rage every time I see it. I twitch, and roll my eyes. It's so twee!

Wilma55 · 02/01/2022 15:31

SYNchronise watches to lose in 2022.....
?

LightandAiry · 02/01/2022 17:14

Ethel's Slinky Slimmers Grin that gave me a much needed laugh SpongeBobJudgeyPants!!

Wilma55 I can't think of one really that's OK by me.
