6 stone to lose. Help!

Hi everyone,
Just looking for encouragement and support. Starting a new group tomorrow. 10 years ago I had a successful stint and lost 3 stone in 6 months. Had lots of unsuccessful goes since then but I really have to make it work this time. Got foot surgery coming up so it's a medical requirement as much as for confidence and general health.
I would just love to "chew the fat" ...😂 Ha ha, not literally!!!... with other new starters.

Started in January with six stone to lose. Three stone to go now. The thing that really helped me was going in knowing no was going to fall off the wagon occasionally, not follow the plan for a few weeks and put on a few pounds as a result. This has helped me hugely with being able to get back onto plan and get rid of the self loathing of being human and wanting a Macdonalds.

Wilma55 · 23/11/2021 22:11

That's great Crimeismymiddlename well done. It's good if you can put a bad day behind you and just crack on.

50FootWave · 24/11/2021 09:33

Hello, please can I join you?

I've lost 3 stone low-carbing but all the cheese has triggered the most terrible migraines!

So, now I need to switch to a sensible plan to shed the last 2 stone otherwise I will self-destruct and hit the carbs with a vengeance.

My friend did really well with following the plan at home and weighing weekly, so she's passed on her books to me. Just need a day or two to get my head in the game, then will start on Friday.

You all sound like you are doing really well, so if that's ok, I'd love to join you?

LeftyLou · 24/11/2021 12:05

There has been some great losses so far. @Asinglepringle almost 1 stone in 3 weeks is fantastic.

@Crimeismymiddlename good news on your weight loss so far.

@50footwave welcome Smile

It is my first weigh in this evening. So I will report back. I am confident I have lost but how much I am not sure.

There isn't going to be much speed for me today, so need to get to the shops afterwards. What are some good breakfasts? I always struggle to know what to have. I was thinking of scrambled eggs and salmon. I have been having fruit and yogurt or cereal but I get bored easily of the same things. Then I struggle in the shops without a plan of action. I think anything really apart from beans related would be welcome Smile

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 24/11/2021 12:42

Hi All. @Wilma55 . I miss cake! There is a recipe for banana bread, if you don't have acess to it and would like it, let me know, I'll pm it. @Crimeismymiddlename Well done! @50FootWave Hello :) @LeftyLou hope your first weigh in goes ok. I'm weighing in again in the morning. Very anal about it. Have to wear exactly the same clothes, no breakfast, 1 cup of coffee in the same sized mug Blush

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 24/11/2021 12:44

@LeftyLou I tend to have an omelette, and half of my Healthy B. Went through a phase of having scrambled egg, microwave for ease, with baked beans.

50FootWave · 24/11/2021 20:47

Thank you for the warm welcomes. I'll be starting tomorrow, think I've got the basics down!

Breakfast will be boiled eggs; jacket, beans and salad for lunch then tofu stir fry with veg and brown rice.

Not sure what my healthy extras will be, or my syns, but I'll think of something. 😄

LittleDoritt · 24/11/2021 21:23

Well done Single, you are storming ahead!

Hope tonight went well Lefty. I have Weetabix or Shredded Wheat minis with berries for breakfast.

Good luck for the morning Sponge.

Hello 50FootWave. Well done on your loss so far.

STS for me this week, which is really annoying as I only had one off plan lunch all week and it was only a sandwich and a little glass of wine. The whole rest of the week was good. Miffed!

LeftyLou · 24/11/2021 21:33

Thankyou for the suggestions Smile

@LittleDoritt sorry to hear you are disappointed. When you have done so well it can feel like a slap in the face sometimes. Try and think of the progress you have made so far.

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants nothing anal about that. Well I say that cos I am the same 😄

This week was 4 off! I am of course very pleased with that.

17th Nov 13 stone 3 BMI 35
24th Nov 12 stone 13 BMI 34.2

Hoping to never see 13 on the scales again (on the left hand side)

Wishing everyone a great week.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 24/11/2021 21:39

Well done @LeftyLou, that's a good loss. @LittleDoritt STS is always disappointing, maybe you'll lose more than you expect next week?

Asinglepringle · 24/11/2021 21:41

Thanks @SpongeBobJudgeyPants and @LeftyLou. Really don't know where I've found the motivation this time round. Just hope it stays around for a bit and I don't end up pressing the self destruct button again Shock

Good to see some more slimmers joining! Welcome @Crimeismymiddlename, excellent loss this year! And @50FootWave I think your approach is really good, realistic.

Asinglepringle · 24/11/2021 22:03

Thanks @LittleDoritt. My consultant when I went to group used to say 'there's no shame in a stay the same'! But it's frustrating when you've been good and focused all week. Like @SpongeBobJudgeyPants said, you'll probably have a good loss next week Grin

50FootWave · 25/11/2021 06:25

Morning everyone, well done those who lost.

25/11: 14.2

So as feared I've crept up but hopefully back in the 13's next week. Goal is 12 so not too scary!

Have great days everyone, I'll post more when I've settled in and know people's names better!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/11/2021 11:19

Hi All. Hope everyone is ok. Lost 2llbs at weigh in, which I'm chuffed with, as met dsis for afternoon tea recently. I just had a scone, which I counted, and resisted all the other deliciousness, so was pleased with my restraint, which I'm not known for!

LittleDoritt · 25/11/2021 11:34

Well done Lefty and Sponge. Am in awe that you resisted afternoon tea Sponge. I would have caved hard!

I have two early Christmas events this week plus my Covid booster so I'm not feeling hopeful for a loss, but I'm going to keep on with as many good meals as I can. Whatever I weigh come the New Year, it's got to be better than if I wasn't trying at all!

Out tonight, but HEA+HEB for breakfast and SW soup lined up for lunch so no syns until that point!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/11/2021 11:57

Thanks @LittleDoritt. I think going swimming and going on my excercise bike helped. Seem to have a better loss if I do that, even though I only do half an hour at a time. I find delaying the HEa and B helps as I know I have a Food Supply for later. If I have them earlier, it generally ends up in a day where I spend more syns. I've only got about one Crimbo 'do' where it's been negotiated to go for coffee and a scone, so that's manageable.

50FootWave · 26/11/2021 07:21

Morning everyone.

Day 1 done for me, and feeling ok BUT we (me, DS, DP) have all tested positive for covid. DS started senior school this year and so I guess it was inevitable it was going to turn up!

Anyway, SW friendly shopping ordered, DS goes back to school on Monday, DP feels rotten and is shuffling around the place, but by some miracle I feel fine (so far).

I'm just mostly furious that I can't leave the house for a run/a break!

I shall just have to do star jumps in the garden. Smile

Wishing everyone else a great day.

Asinglepringle · 27/11/2021 10:14

Well done on the loss @SpongeBobJudgeyPants !

How are you feeling today @50FootWave ? Hope you and your family can shake off the virus soonThanks

Had a horrible day at work yesterday where I'd normally drown my sorrows in wine pizza and chocolate and feel even worse in the morning. But I'm so determined to lose 2 lb this week to take me to a stone loss I managed to stay focused with a SW ready meal and a cup of tea! (So unlike me, seriously). Need a strategy to keep going after the end of the month and with Christmas on the doorstep resolve will have to be super strong for us all!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 27/11/2021 13:02

How is everyone? That sounds grim @50FootWave. Hopefully will be over pretty soon. Thanks @Asinglepringle. Well done for not disappearing into a pizza and wine wormhole! I'm trying to stay good, despite just being to a simultaneously very boring but stressful committee meeting in a very cold venue.

Wilma55 · 27/11/2021 16:17

Only 1/2 lb off at weigh in this morning. Talk was about triggers. I always thought my OH was one of my triggers or reasons for weight gain. However he has been away for a week and I've been having lazy meals and not much fruit and veg. So if nothing else it has proved a point. Booked a holiday week next Saturday as off to see new grandchild! ❤

Asinglepringle · 27/11/2021 18:14

@Wilma55 1/2 lb a week for a year would be nearly 2 stone off! And it's better than a gain Grin

Congrats on your new DGC Thanks

Wilma55 · 27/11/2021 21:44

Thanks @asinglepringle that's exactly what I would say to someone else. Funny how we are hard on ourselves isn't it?

50FootWave · 28/11/2021 08:36

Thanks @Asinglepringle and @SpongeBobJudgeyPants - DP has been hit hard, but I'm fine, DS now testing negative and back to school tomorrow.

Congrats on your new DGC @Wilma55

Freezing here, but would kill for a walk!

Asinglepringle · 28/11/2021 12:52

Just wanted a word about alcohol- just my personal stuff I felt like sharing, if you don't mind?

I've always enjoyed drinking socially, back in the day when pub culture was a thing. More recently at home or out for dinner with exP who always drank wine with dinner (if I said I didn't want to drink he'd get the hump and say well I'm not drinking on my own, so I felt a bit guilt-tripped into it - yes weird thinking back on it). I'd also use food and alcohol as a way of blurring the edges when things aren't so great in life in general.

Having almost completed my personal November challenge of strictly SlimmingWorld - no booze pizza choccie etc, I've actually really enjoyed it and my mindset has changed insofar as I now realise I don't NEED to drink alcohol and eat pizza (although it IS completely delicious Blush)

So the end of November will come and go and I'll be sticking with my new-found clarity (and hopefully shrinking waistline!)

I'm not sure if I could've reached this conclusion if I hadn't been on this thread, checking in every day to see people's progress then starting to post myself. Probably would've failed at the first or second hurdle.

Sorry, that was long. Thanks for reading! Grin

50FootWave · 28/11/2021 13:48

@Asinglepringle congratulations on trying and succeeding at giving up drinking.

I gave up in December 2019 for exactly the same reasons as you, though I was a much heavier drinker than my DP.

It remains one of the best things I have ever done on so many levels. Clarity is the perfect word to describe how it feels.

I don't want to derail this thread, but always happy to chat if you ever want to!
