6 stone to lose. Help!

Hi everyone,
Just looking for encouragement and support. Starting a new group tomorrow. 10 years ago I had a successful stint and lost 3 stone in 6 months. Had lots of unsuccessful goes since then but I really have to make it work this time. Got foot surgery coming up so it's a medical requirement as much as for confidence and general health.
I would just love to "chew the fat" ...😂 Ha ha, not literally!!!... with other new starters.

Thank you@50FootWave I really appreciate that, especially as you've been in the same boatGrin. Good to hear your DS is negative!

I'm actually nervous about my weigh-in tomorrow. Is ridiculous I know, and if I don't get there this week it's not the end of the world is it?

DD and I have booked a restaurant for Boxing Day, so there'll be a couple of indulgent days (but no booze). I think last year we made Christmas last a couple of months, with 'treats' and a hot chocolate station set up, constantly being restocked with biccies and chocs! It was very lovely at the time, but it unfortunately set the pace for the rest of the year!

Anyway starting a fresh new week, here's hoping for some great results for everyone !

50FootWave · 29/11/2021 08:57

Hope your weigh was ok today, @Asinglepringle, and don't lose heart if not.

Happy Monday everyone.

LightandAiry · 29/11/2021 20:05

Hi I'd like to join you. I joined my local Slimming World 4 weeks ago. I have joined several times before but just not committed, but this time lost 9lb so far.

My motivation is health - blood pressure is high and would like to avoid type 2 diabetes (I am pre-diabetic). A reduced waistline and less tummy is also a motivation Smile by the summer I'd like to fit into clothes I've not worn for years.

Today was a struggle but I am OK now I've had salmon & cottage cheese for dinner feeling full. It will be challenging at the moment with Christmas meet ups and meals....

I have almost 3 stone to lose now I've lost 9lb

Wilma55 · 29/11/2021 21:45

Well done @LightandAiry and welcome. I joined for partly for health reasons too, high cholesterol.

Asinglepringle · 30/11/2021 06:53

Good morning all, welcome @LightandAiry Grin. Well done, you've made a great start already with a 9lb loss! Getting to that place in your head where you find the commitment and motivation is half the battle I think, and facing up to potential health challenges is so scary until it becomes a real motivator.

Weigh in yesterday for me turned out well, lost the 2lbs I was hoping for (after a false start when I was 1/4lb over. Half an hour later (TMI) nature took it's course and hey presto!) So for me it's:
Starting weight: 13st 10lbs
This week +/-: -2lb
Current weight:12st 10lbs
Hopefully carry on losing 1lb ish a week, appreciate that sometimes I won't but I'm feeling so much better overall that I'm going to carry on anyway!

Have a great day everyone-stay focused! Grin

LightandAiry · 30/11/2021 07:13

Mornin all

Asingle,Pringle I really get what you mean about using food and drink to blur the edges in life. I am having a stressful time at the moment and my default option has been to hit the snacking. Yesterday was a difficult day as that was all I wanted to do but I didn't as my resolve is strong...I just want to be able to control something and nothing better than being able to lose the expanding waistline!

Wilma saw you have a DGC - congratulations! Hopefully we will both see health benefits of weight loss soon (...without being too derailed by Christmas meals out etc....).

I have a meal out with work on Friday evening and meeting up with a friend Saturday not seen her for months. Some brandy and diet coke in memory of her late DH (was his favourite drink!) In the mix....but won't derail me as I am determined this time Smile

LightandAiry · 30/11/2021 07:16

Pringle well done on your 2lb. Brilliant.

SylviaTrench · 30/11/2021 07:45

Morning everyone. Edging into December would normally mean a mince pie or two just about every day for me, and a bit of extra-thick cream to help it go down. Plus a hot chocolate every evening with a bit more of that cream.

This year I'm going to try to stick to plan, without being miserable about it. We have three meals out booked, I've already perused the menus so I don't have that instant of mild panic in the restaurant. If I know in advance what I'm ordering then, hopefully, I won't be tempted by the nice descriptions of the rest of the food.

If I have an off-plan day well it's just one day, I'm not going to use it as an excuse to fall off the wagon and stuff my face. So fingers crossed that Christmas eating will last for three days for me, instead of the usual six weeks!

It would be a novelty to start the new year with only a couple of extra pounds to lose, instead of scolding myself for adding another half a stone.

LightandAiry · 30/11/2021 08:21

SylviaTrench I know what you mean about mince pies. I would have had a few mini mince pies but only had one topped with low fat creme fraiche!

LeftyLou · 30/11/2021 15:16

How has everyone been getting on this week? I have been making some good choices but I am not convinced on even a loss this week. TOTM!! I will just have to keep up with the positives and think of the hopefully big loss next week. Weigh in is not til tomorrow so shall see what the scales say. Also need to make a note to remember to take my measurements.

Hope you and your family are feeling better now re the covid results @50FootWave. I was very much like you, barely felt it. Fortunately or unfortunately however you look at it I also didn't lose my sense of taste.

How lovely about your new grandchild @Wilma55 😊

@LightandAiry that is an amazing loss so far Smile

Well done on your 2lbs this week @Asinglepringle Smile and one stone altogether! Must feel so good.

@SylviaTrench a Mince Pie and Hot Chocolate sounds just amazing! I did have that the other weekend. Worked it into my syns. I don't think I will have another now til at least I have finished work for the Christmas period.

My gran has said she will join me on the journey after New Year. Made me think of how much more weight I could put on in that time easily a stone.

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week and some good losses (NSV)

Wilma55 · 30/11/2021 15:45

Thank you all for your congratulations re DGD. Other half away in SPAIN! So will have to self isolate on return so will have to delay visit to see baby! Am out with friend tomorrow to see Anything Goes at cinema (recording of show with Robert Lindsay & Felicity Kendall). Before that we are going to Zizzi but the app is useless re syns. I found the calories on my fitness pal so will go for one of their under 600 calories options, probably pasta or rice based as at least that part will be free.

It is so good to see lots of posts on here!

50FootWave · 30/11/2021 16:38

Congrats, @Asinglepringle, that's brilliant!

Great to meet you @LightandAiry. 9lbs lost so far is fantastic.

@SylviaTrench I like your planning tactics! I rather fancy a fall off the wagon and stuff my face clause!

Thanks, @LeftyLou - DS and I are fine, symptoms wise, DP still struggling. I'm not enjoying being stuck in (we live right near the beach, I love my daily walks!). but over half way now, freedom awaits on Sunday!

Enjoy your night out, @Wilma55 - sounds like you have a good approach.

SylviaTrench · 30/11/2021 17:08

I've just seen a SW-related post on Instagram that suggests changes are coming. Typical that I've just got my head around how SW works and I've literally just changed my membership from group to online only, so wouldn't receive the updated books.

Hopefully it won't be anything drastic, maybe just some syn changes. A lot of comments hoping for 2 x HexB instead of 1.

Wilma55 · 30/11/2021 17:14

Maybe it's because WW has brought in a major change, they've introduced personal points where different people have different free foods. Do SW change things much? WW seem to do something every couple of years.

LightandAiry · 30/11/2021 17:24

Thanks for the welcome everyone Smile I would like to lose a stone by Boxing Day but will be happy with anything in the right direction.

I am off to Prezzo on Friday evening pre ordered salmon and prawn risotto followed by cheesecake. Will be high syn I am just off to investigate!

Wilma enjoy Zizzi but when I went I was tempted by a generous tub of free pasta twirl crisps before I had my main. Mega syns!

LeftyLou good luck with your weigh in and it's good your Gran will join you

Wilma55 · 30/11/2021 18:49

@LightandAiry that's a good choice for main only 10 1/2 syns? Have you got the app? Luckily I'm not mad on those pasta twirl crisps!

LightandAiry · 30/11/2021 19:19

Yes pleased with that. It's blackcurrant and Prosecco cheesecake didn't see it on the app. I will need to cut well down on syns next 2 days!

50FootWave · 01/12/2021 11:00

Hello everyone.

Weigh in for me tomorrow but tbh, being stuck indoors (despite running around the garden and hourly dance breaks from my desk) is worrying me! Curious to see the result, though.

I might treat this week as a pilot week, then weigh again Sunday (freedom day!) and start from there, once I can run again!

LightandAiry · 01/12/2021 19:39

I've had a less than perfect day, very stressed....while on phone to my sister with concerns about my elderly Mum I called out to DD to ask her to mash the potatoes. She put cheese and butter in them but I Still had a 1/3 plate dollop.

Proud to say I avoided the tubs of chocolates and tins of biscuits today at work 😇 I could easily have scoffed handfuls as comfort eating but had a low cal hot chocolate instead when I got home.

50footwave good luck with weigh in tomorrow. Mine is Saturday at 7.30am! I have been stuck at work too but went out for a walk at lunch. My job is very sedentary and advantage of working from home is getting up more often. I can understand how you're looking forward to freedom Day!

LeftyLou · 01/12/2021 21:33

Weigh in this evening lost 3.5 so very happy with that. So got my 1/2 stone award as well as slimmer of the week. It was a small group today.

My stats
17th Nov 13 stone 3 BMI 35
24th Nov 12 stone 13 BMI 34.2
1st Dec 12 stone 9.5 BMI 33.5

I am still in the obese category but it feels good watching it go down.

Good luck with the weigh ins tomorrow and Saturday @50FootWave @LightandAiry Smile

Wilma55 · 01/12/2021 22:56

Well done @leftlou. This might help some of us who find it hard to get out and exercise!

6 stone to lose. Help!
Asinglepringle · 02/12/2021 00:12

Great result @LeftyLou ! Well done for Slimmer of the Week! Does your consultant give a prize for the SotW? Mine used to give out a box of veg or we'd all bring something in to make up a little haul for the winner. I think the same tin of chopped tomatoes went round at least three times Grin

Had an interview today so quite stressful. Managed to NOT inhale a bar of chocolate which would have been my previous coping mechanism Blush

Good luck to anyone weighing in tomorrow. Keep us all updated please Smile

50FootWave · 02/12/2021 07:26

@LeftyLou well done - that's amazing. What a great buzz to be firmly in the 12's now, too. Slimmer of the week, too - woo hoo!

Wishing you luck for Saturday, @LightandAiry and for being so zen about the potatoes. I would have lost control. Same for you, @Asinglepringle! Nicely dodged.

I've lost 2 pounds! Much to my surprise as not been able to exercise much! Would love 4 or 5 off by Christmas to put me firmly in the 13's.

25/11: 14.2
02/12: 14

Happy Thursday everyone!

Asinglepringle · 02/12/2021 07:45

Well done@50FootWave - great result for you this week! We're seeing some good movement aren't we? Feels like everyone's in a positive vibe at the moment. Weekend approaching, let's stay strong!

50FootWave · 02/12/2021 08:03

Indeed, @Asinglepringle! I am going to sit in the garden to have my lunch today to celebrate!
