I didn't want to start a new SW thread, so I hope it's OK to just ask here?
Is SW working well for you all? Is it good to do with a family, who don't need to lose weight themselves?

I don't want to derail, so please feel free to tell me to start my own bloody thread if need be Grin

troppibambini · 15/11/2019 13:23

Well done blondes!!

@lifesbetteraftertea I go to a morning group and it's so much better I used to do an evening one and dreaded weigh in day, no I go straight from school run.

@MummyInTheNecropolis that looks good I love sausage chips and beans I've not had it for ages might have to go on next weeks meal plan.

We are going out tonight for a few drinks and food and the cinema.
I'm looking forward to it but know I'm going to not be on plan tonight. I won't go crazy but it won't be great!!

TigerJoy · 15/11/2019 14:03

Minestrone for lunch. As I'm working from home I chucked some pasta in as well (made it without as it doesn't keep with pasta in)

Hello @SouthernNorthernGirl

I've found it very effective. Lost 18lbs in 19 weeks - not fast but I feel like I've tried every diet going and usually give up after a month. Can't speak for families but I cook all the same stuff for my DH as I get and he hasn't noticed much difference. We have lots of pasta and I just reduce the oil I use. We have less dishes like lasagna, fajitas, crispy duck as they're all high syn and fewer takeaways generally but he doesn't seem to have noticed much or minded. There are lots of standard family fare you can cook - spag bol, chilli, cottage pie, beef stew (we now have it with mash not dumplings), homemade curries. Meat and 2 veg are all on plan and so are Sunday roasts, mostly.

lifesbetteraftertea · 15/11/2019 14:20

Well I lost 4.5lb in my first week, am delighted. Although weighing on a Friday raises temptation to take a day or 2 off over the weekend but will keep on track!
B: bacon and scrambled eggs
L: pasta n sauce (2.5 syns) with lots of veg
D: roast chicken dinner
Snacks 2 hifi for healthy b
Syns- hoping to fit in a glass of wine and little chocolate later !

troppibambini · 15/11/2019 16:29

Hi @SouthernNorthernGirl yep it's works but as others have said you do obviously have to stick to it.
I have kids and it's really easy to cook for a family when on it almost everything can be adapted.
The only way thing that would cause and issue is if you don't like to cook from scratch. There are no short cuts really eg there is no pre pared stuff you can just bung in the oven and jars etc are very high in syns.
However once you get into the swing of things it really easy just to make a bit extra to freeze and then you always have something you can just microwave.
It's a very healthy way to lose weight Smile

troppibambini · 15/11/2019 16:30

@lifesbetteraftertea wow that's fantastic congratulations you must be so pleased!

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/11/2019 18:40

@TigerJoy it’s a lb a week. Quite acceptable

@lifesbetteraftertea wow. Fab well done. A big boost

I have a large gin and diet lemonade in my hand. Not sure of syns of gin

OP posts:
TigerJoy · 15/11/2019 21:00

Mah, not many syns in gin!

I just had the most amazing meal out - absolutely no way of estimating syns as I don't know if sri lanken food is fatty but nothing was deep fried, lots of lovely curry sauces and salads. Totally stuffed. Really enjoyed it. Back on the wagon tomorrow!

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 16/11/2019 07:59

I weighed in on Thursday on gained 3lbs Confused
Not a surprise, but still a shock.
I'm away this weekend in Cheddar, for my DH 50th, and next weekend got a girlie weekend at Centreparcs.
Talk about temptation!
After next weekend tho, I'm overhauling my entire lifestyle. No point doing it until then, I'll just be miserable.
I can't carry on like I am. I hate myself and my body.

lifesbetteraftertea · 16/11/2019 08:35

B- bacon, eggs, beans, 1x bread
L- baked pot, beans cheese, salad
D- Diet Coke chicken, first time making this, going to do it with rice and sw chips so it feels like a Saturday night treat!
Snack - hifi
Syns- chocolate / crisps while watching strictly!

TigerJoy · 16/11/2019 08:56

@dexterslockedintheshedagain I'm sorry about the gain. Enjoy your DH's 50th and your girly weekend and try and be a bit sensible during the week. It's a marathon not a sprint. You can do it.

troppibambini · 16/11/2019 09:36

@dexterslockedintheshedagain I'm sorry you're feeling like that but can totally identify. As tiger said enjoy your event then crack on.

I saw the Irishman at the cinema last night, if you like De Niro, Al Pacino mafia type films it's amazing. Long but amazing.

Ate all the tapas and the churros and drank all the wine.
But today is a new day.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 16/11/2019 10:18

Oh dear, I had another Friday night out and off the wagon! Could’ve been worse though, I had calamari followed by a skinny pizza. Probably still a week’s worth of syns but at least I didn’t go for the full fat pizza or a dessert! I did drink an awful lot of rum though...🙈

FiveNightsAtMummys · 16/11/2019 12:25

Today's food plan.

Breakfast - fruit

Lunch - pesto pasta (1 syn) with quorn fillet.

Tea - burgers (1/2 syn) on warburtons wm breadcake (heb) with cheese (hea) and salad. Also making a garlic bread wrap to share with dh so that will be 4 syns plus 20g of cheese (will count that as an extra hex target members are allowed). 1.5 syn aswell for sauces.

Snack will be fruit and Terry's chocolate orange bar as I didn't have it last night. So will be slightly over syns today but I've been under past few days so it's fine.

magnarocks · 16/11/2019 12:32

Haven't really disappeared off the face of the earth. Put on 2lb at weigh in, not surprised at all - busy week and haven't been on plan enough.

Here's to another week, feeling motivated. 💪🏻 hope you're all doing well x

magnarocks · 16/11/2019 12:39

Today's food

B: two fruit and nut hifi (HexB), a clementine and a bowl of blueberries

Sn: skinny whip (4.5)

D: mayflower chicken curry (4), stirfried veg (0.5) and whole grain rice

Leaves 4 syns for later if desperate.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 16/11/2019 21:31

Edit I had a tube of pringles, chocolate orange bar, 2 finger kitkat, fibre one and 60g of dates (1.5 heb) used 56 syns but I still have 18 left for next 2 days so all is good.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/11/2019 22:00

You are at target @FiveNightsAtMummys sonot a problem
If you go up and down a lb

OP posts:
TigerJoy · 16/11/2019 22:21

B - banana "pancakes" and a mango. Mash banana, beat with 2 eggs and a few healthy shakes of cinnamon, fry in small batches (v runny). Bit odd but overall tasty and very filling. Fried in butter (weighed out 5g and used in small increments, wiping around the pan) so 2 syn plus whatever for mashed banana 🙄

L - sushi with my niece. Brilliant day out and healthy meal. Lost track of syns but not many (generally 0.5 syn per nigiri and I had 2 tempura squid...)

D - pasta with chickpeas (3 syn for oil)

S - gelato (asked for small (1 flavour) but asked nicely and they gave me 2 flavours in half scoops), 2 cappucino (hea) at home

Estimate 20-25 syns for the day? Hard to tell but felt good. Gelato was AMAZING! Chocolate brownie and orange custard. Amazing.

Lunch out tomorrow but determined not to snack and will have really good brekkie and dinner. Then super strict til weigh in.
