Southeastlondonmum2 · 01/01/2020 16:04

So how many of us on slimming world have kept weight off over, say, a 2 or 3 year or longer period? Rather than chasing the same stone up and down the scales? Lose before holiday gain over holiday etc? Does it work for us? I feel that I am chasing the same few pounds up and down year on year

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/01/2020 16:17

It works but if you go back to normal everyday eating you will gain

OP posts:
TigerJoy · 01/01/2020 17:21

I have only done it for 6 months and lost a stone but I will say this - lost most of the weight in the few weeks during that time I took it seriously BUT I find it sustainable and I honestly feel it has shifted my habits. Actually feel quite cheery about starting again.

Having chilli con carne not curry as I'm too tired to fart about with bee recipe tonight. Also had a chinotto so about 7.5 syns for today

FiveNightsAtMummys · 01/01/2020 17:27

Today I've had:
B - Rice krispies
L - costa skinny latte
T - roast, I had sprouts, carrots, peas, small bit of mash, 1 stuffing ball, 1 pig in blanket, 1 yorkshire pudding, 3 roast parsnips and gravy. For dessert we had Christmas pudding, I had 1/3 of a small one with a little bit of double cream.

Not sure if I'll eat again today. Don't feel massivly full.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 01/01/2020 17:51

I'm sat here peckish with lack of enegry (bo energy to exercise) mentally beating myself up. It's a new year, I'm under weight and I need food so I going to eat it, I'm going to eat the chocolate and some biscuits too. Tomorrow is a fresh start, I've got a food shop so have some nice filling meal foods in, need to take better care of myself now. So sorry again for venting I haven't anywhere else to talk.

TigerJoy · 01/01/2020 21:42

That's ok food is such a tricky issue. I can't talk to most of my friends either. Most of my skinny friends refuse to talk about food and clearly starve themselves one way or another / are very VERY careful about what they eat. So many of us have food issues!

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/01/2020 23:44

Maybe try eating later @FiveNightsAtMummys. To have tea all done by 6 is early

And I say it again. You shouldn’t be hungry /starving on sw

Maybe some slices of ham Inside wrapped with Cucumber cheese A apple

Or jacket pot and beans

You seem to snack on chocolate , which is fine if in syns as that’s what they are for

But you do like sweet stuff. Then feel bad for eating it

FiveNightsAtMummys · 02/01/2020 01:26

I'm not following sw now blondes, I thought I'd said a few weeks ago. If you'd prefer for me not to post on here I'll stop I just found the support helpful but obviously its about sw so totally understand if not. Alot of my usual meals will be sw friendly as I've got into the habit of these so its "normal". My food hasn't been anywhere near normal past 2 weeks as we bought treat type foods over xmas which are obviously much more fattening / higher cals/syns, then I got gifted a lot of chcolate and sweets. So I've been trying to manage the xmas foods and sweets best I can, which has caused me some anxiety hence me posting again recently. Tonight my snacks were, cucumber, carrot sticks, ryvita thins, salsa, crisps, piece of cheese & branson on a cracker and 1 biscuit. Then I had chocolate and what was left I've thrown away so I have zero left now.
I've done a meal plan for the next 7 days for breakfast lunch and tea and I've also listed the healthy snacks I have so I can plan these in on the day depending on what I fancy.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/01/2020 08:26

Welcome to post @FiveNightsAtMummys and for support

You say you aren’t following sw but if gain or loss you seem to worry

And if peckish eat something :)

You have done so well but don’t deprive yourself

L - leftover chilli, rice, beetroot, red cabbage slaw (1 syn for oil)
D - either pasta e broccoli or something involving duck strips, possibly thai red curry

Just want to share a great recipe - Nigella Lawson's sweet and sour slaw. Few syns for the pineapple juice, sesame oil and maple syrup, but I used half the pineapple juice (from a can of pineapple) and it was more than enough, plus you could use sweetener.

I made a cheat's version today - sliced red cabbage with lime juice, salt and coriander, tiny dash of maple syrup. Mixed it all up and left to sit for 30 mins and it "cooked" the cabbage. Super tasty and very easy, no syns.

troppibambini · 02/01/2020 16:32

Ooh that sounds lovely tiger.

I've just made split pea and ham soup with the left over Xmas ham. Delicious!

B-mango,raspberries, Greek yogurt and raspberry sauce (1)
L-pea and ham soup
D-not sure yet, maybe pasta

Thatnovembernight · 02/01/2020 20:09

Hello! I’m in day 2.

B: Blueberry wheats, banana and milk

L: soup made from random selection of veg in the fridge plus cheese and a yogurt

D: Jacket potato with tuna, sweet corn and mayo and a salad

Missing Quality Street...

MummyInTheNecropolis · 02/01/2020 20:19

I had a long break over Christmas (well, the whole of December really!) and gained 8lbs Blush.

I’m not beating myself up though, I had a great time and I went back and faced the scales, now I am well and truly back on plan!

B - banana and apple
L - tuna pasta salad (1.5 for mayo)
D - butterfly chicken breast, rice and vegetables
S - a cookie baked by my daughter - not sure of syns but don’t think it would be more than 15? Haven’t had any HEs yet so may have some weetabix and milk later if I’m hungry before bed.

therealmrsclooney · 02/01/2020 20:29

I'm new to this - on day 1. Have just filled in my meals for today on the SW website planner and it told me I'd exceeded my syn allowance. I've had 11.5. I thought you could have 5-15 a day (and I thought I needed to ease myself in slowly!)

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/01/2020 20:42

@Thatnovembernight and @cloony Welcome

@MummyInTheNecropolis sounds a good Dec

I wi tomorrow ........

Hello @thatnovembernight and @therealmrsclooney. I hope you find this thread useful - I find it so useful I stopped going to group and just went online!

Yes you should have 15 syns and to be honest in my first week I had at least that every day and still lost 8lbs. Not sure what's wrong with the app

Hello again @mummyathenecropolis 8lbs is alright and well done for facing it and getting back on it!

I have finally found a good use for disgusting choc shots - dip pear slices in it! Totally delicious pudding!

I'm at 6 syns today which is a bloody miracle so herbal tea from now on tonight.

Made duck stir fry in the end with all the veg in the fridge - Brussel sprouts are really good in a stir fry...

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/01/2020 09:27

Gained 2lbs which over the Xmas period I’m ok with. Let’s hope for a loss next week

OP posts:
MummyInTheNecropolis · 03/01/2020 09:43

That’s great blondes, I’d have been delighted with only 2lbs on! My plan for today:
B - banana
L - jacket potato, tuna and salad
D - bolognese pasta bake (HEA for cheese)
