Just an observation as I said I’m not slimming world but many of you are over doing the snacks. I’m losing quickly just by eating 3 meals a day (1300 cals)and nothing or a 50cal snack in between. I find a big glass of water or herbal tea helps. Good luck all.

SpiderCharlotte · 22/11/2019 17:52

Thanks @lilgreen but the snacks are usually accounted for in the daily allowance of syns, so they're fine to have. The idea isn't really to lose weight very quickly and not have snacks, it's a long term change to how you eat and not 'banning' anything. So you have between 5-15 'syns' a day and you can use them on whatever you like i.e. a snack size Mars has 4 syns so you can just take that from your syn allowance. It's just a different way from counting calories to lose weight and try to change eating habits long-term. They both work though! Good luck with your weight loss, I hope it keeps working well for you.

lilgreen · 22/11/2019 18:06

I see what you’re saying. For me just eating the wrong things sets me on a downward spiral. I’d rather just eat healthy than include chocolate/cakes but each to their own I guess.

lilgreen · 22/11/2019 18:08

I think the post about 3 kitkats had me thinking Hmm

SpiderCharlotte · 22/11/2019 18:14

each to their own I guess

@lilgreen Absolutely.

I eat mostly fresh homemade food with a snack or so every day. I've lost a lot of weight previously (3 and a half stone) on SW so it works well for me. Except for tonight when I shall drink lots of wine, eat crisps and enjoy myself 😂 I'll behave myself again tomorrow!

lilgreen · 22/11/2019 18:15

Enjoy!

Flippingnorah · 22/11/2019 18:21

O please can I join? I started SW yesterday and new to everything. Have a very active, non sleeping toddler so have yet to read through my booklets.

Today I had a pear, tuba pasta salad and beef stew. I'm bing my hexa+b for a cheese toastie tonight!

Flippingnorah · 22/11/2019 18:36

tuna pasta salad and I'm saving my hexa+b *

Can anyone tell me, if I get into bed and I'm too tired to make this cheese toastie, is it bad? Do I absolutely HAVE to use them or will skipping them on occasion be ok?

I'm a late evening snacker where I'll have 'second dinner' so would love to save my hexa&b for the evenings so I can always have a sandwich.

troppibambini · 22/11/2019 18:53

Nope it's fine not to have them.

Syns, hea and hebs are there to use but you don't have to have them. The a is for calcium and the b is for fibre so obviously it's healthy to have some calcium but as long as you are going to the loo you don't need the b.
Just don't deprive yourself.

troppibambini · 22/11/2019 18:53

Sorry and welcome @Flippingnorah Smile

troppibambini · 22/11/2019 18:55

@lilgreen the three kitkat post is from someone who is trying to gain weight as she is under target.

lilgreen · 22/11/2019 19:18

Really? Oh sorry. Confused

TigerJoy · 22/11/2019 21:27

Hello @flippingnora! Welcome. Sw is deeply confusing when you start out. I am dairy intolerant and can't eat too much fibre so I don't always have either - which is fine. The point is sw is calorie counting by another name but tries to nudge you towards healthy choices.

As a result I now am much more likely to have 500ml or so of almond or oat milk a day as a cappucino as it is a satisfying snack. Or peanuts or 2 hifi bars as a snack. But don't worry if you don't feel like it. I do really feel like I am making much more healthy choices - I am not seeing dramatic weight loss but it's slow and steady and it has genuinely helped my habits

TigerJoy · 22/11/2019 21:37

@lilgreen she's trying to put on weight but nonetheless one of the things I've liked about this thread is the ability to share what we've been eating without judgement. I've certainly had my share of shitty weeks, and my DH is a sweetie pie in many ways but as a slim person he can be really judgemental when I've had a bad day and not understand why I've just eaten a small shed-load of chocolate.

Also - sure we should always eat 3 reasonable meals and not snack on chocolate but...you know...if it were easy we wouldn't be here? Right?

FiveNightsAtMummys · 22/11/2019 23:50

Today's been better.

No breakfast (was still cross with myself)

I've had omlette with cheese and veg for lunch.

Tea was a salad with tuna, sushi (2 syns) eggs and then the usual salad stuff (1 syn for dressing)

Snacked on a satsuma and and used my heb on 1 alpen light and 40g prunes.

Did 45 mins on air walker this morning and 15 mins this evening and the usual hooping.

Feeling a bit hungry now so I'm going to bed.

lifesbetteraftertea · 23/11/2019 00:48

Hi all, so 2lb off for me, only 2nd weigh in so that makes 6.5 over 2 weeks which yes I'm v happy with but honestly tonight I've undone it during a meal out copious amounts of wine and unhealthy choices 😭

TigerJoy · 23/11/2019 00:51

Pasta for dinner

Daily menu 2 - please come and write what you eat
lilgreen · 23/11/2019 08:18

I agree, was just an observation. Good luck all!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/11/2019 08:41

@Flippingnorah welcome

@lifesbetteraftertea well done on loss

Sw is a way of life. Eating low fat. You need to have treats and syns to enjoy life

Eating veg and salad all day and nothing else is boring

Plus sw teaches you it’s fine to have a small chocxy bar or crisps instead of eating whole pack

The lady who had 3 kit Kat is trying to gain

But sometimes we have shit days and binge /over eat. It’s called life

I think given the context @blondes you did very well! That's still a pretty light dinner

I am very excited to see Frozen 2 today and take my niece and nephew to pizza express first. I'm going to see if I can get a kids meal if not I'll have a leggera. I originally typed that I'd have what I want then I checked the syns!!!. Will also have a bit of popcorn and some diet coke but will take a bag of crudites and cut up fruit with me

B - egg bacon beans
L - pizza (27.5)
D - cod, braised fennel, steamed green veg

S - crudites, fruit, popcorn (6)

Will try and be less than 5 syns sunday/monday

TigerJoy · 23/11/2019 08:59

Well done @lifebetteraftertea that's amazing!

Flippingnorah · 23/11/2019 09:12

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm absolutely thrilled with myself to have had a good first day, it's given me the motivational boost to carry on! I already feel less bloated. I have 4stone to lose and am feeling pretty darn determined after years of crash dieting. Having so much freedom with this diet feels like a treat. I'm reading back your menus which is brilliant for inspiration.

I have another question, is my toddler okay to eat what I'm eating? So using quark instead of double cream for a carbonara for example. What about where things have sweetner and frylight instead of more natural ingredients like sugar and butter? Not that he has that regularly. I feel like the years of fad diets have messed with my brain so I'm still seeing chemical sweetners and low fat alternative versions as the devil.

lifesbetteraftertea · 23/11/2019 10:12

@Flippingnorah I've got about 4 stone to lose too, I feel like once I get the first stone gone it'll feel like less of a mountain to climb when I can say "2 stone 13lb to target" I have two los aged 3 and 1 to feed and generally speaking I give them what I'm having but a little tip I've found useful is when you're making spag Bol, chilli, Diet Coke chicken or anything like that, freeze a portion for yourself for those nights when los are having sausages/ fish fingers etc so that you don't feel like you have to cook all different dinners!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/11/2019 12:47

Think I object to using 14 syns on toast !!!

Yes fine to feed toddlerAnd family What you eat
