2lb off for me tonight. That's 11lbs in four weeks. I've hit my first mini target of 10lb in four weeks. Now onto that 1 stone award

Vintage62 · 06/02/2018 22:44

I am disappointed that on week two I have only lost 1lb (only 1/2 lb in week one). My consultant looked at my food diary and thinks that I am not eating enough. I never have breakfast (not just while on SW, I have never eaten breakfast), and don't usually eat until 2pm. My food choices are quite restricted at lunch time as I eat at a desk in a shop, or out and about at auctions, I generally have a home made sandwich with bread as HEB. I know I don't drink enough, as if I am in the shop on my own I have to close so I can rush upstairs for a wee! I quite like cooking in the evening, so I am trying to eat as many speed foods as I can in one meal. I am quite rigid about syns, and feel virtuous if I don't have any, which is not really the point. My plan for this new week is to chill out more, to plan, to shop, to cook and to eat!

znmke · 07/02/2018 06:26

Had my weigh in yesterday put on 1lb. Very disappointed! My consultant said I don't enough speed foods I am not sure what am doing wrong and what should be eating I am not loosing as I had hoped too. My normal day of good is as follows
B 2 HIFi bars
L soaked oats
D anything I have cooked for family without cards and lots of salad
S peanuts

What more am I suppose to eat! Please help ladies

Pipsqueak11 · 07/02/2018 07:53

Znmke the "anything I cook for the family" could be high syn. Sausages ? Mince that is not 5% fat? Anything processed? Also SW is not low carb so not sure why you're missing off the pasta/ rice potato?
I do it by fruit / yoga for breakfast . Salad with chicken or cottage cheese or other free food for lunch then a SW recipe for eve meal - recipes are lovely and great for the family too .then use syns for bits that go with it - sauces or a pat of butter on a jacket potato etc
Hope this helps

Pipsqueak11 · 07/02/2018 07:54

Yoga- lol!!!!
Yoghurt I mean !

Groovee · 07/02/2018 08:02

I always have a breakfast as I need to eat due to reflux. Yesterday I had an omelette with a little bit sweetener and frozen fruit, today I'm thinking an omelette with spinach and ham. Other days I have fruit and yoghurt or quark, porridge made with water and yoghurt with frozen berries, weetabix with berries and milk.

Lunch can be anything from pasta salad, to a risotto, chips and pickled onions.

Dinner is mince and Tatties, pasta bake, Jambalaya, fish and chips.

@znmke I've noticed you have 2 hifi bars and the oats. I can't have hifi bars as syns as they make me maintain. I try to have a different HEB Daily and mix it about. So porridge one day, a wholemeal roll the next day, Ryvita the next day. I find this works better.

Do you not snack on any speed foods during the day? Your menu looks very restrictive.

I know it sounds weird but everytime someone at our group doesn't seem to be loosing any weight our leader recommends eating more speed and free food and also not being afraid of using all of your syns. One lady had been talking about being on a diet for months on sw and only lost about 1/2 a pound a week. Eventually she listened to the leader and really tested the plan and filled her boots as they say and lost 4lbs. It's worth a go?

Testarossa1 · 07/02/2018 09:41

I think maybe some of you aren't eating enough, I got told that if you don't eat enough your body goes into panic mode and stores more fat as reserves. A usual day for me is
B Cereal, fruit with a yoghurt
L Soup with crispbread, dairylea, veg sticks
T chilli, rice with extra veg

My hea is milk, heb is cereal. I usually have a pudding after tea, Yoghurt, jelly etc, snack on fruit during the day and a hi fi bar in the evening. I generally use about 10syns a day. I've lost 9.5lbs in 4 weeks, and I've not really felt hungry.

Bacon and Veg risotto. Just too tired to think properly. Had an apple after for the speed element to be boosted.

@Groovee - that looks delicious!

I've got my Italian cookery class tonight.. must try and not eat the bread we are making! How ridiculous 🤣

latedecember1963 · 07/02/2018 20:01

Znmke, why not try to make your breakfasts more varied.
Eg. 50g All Bran with milk or yoghurt with a sliced banana or blueberries or strawberries.
2Weetabix or 40g of porridge oats or 40g muesli with milk or yoghurt or skyr.
Fruit salad and yoghurt.
Eggs, scrambled, boiled, poached or omelette with toast.
One of my favourite breakfasts is mushrooms on toast.

Try not to get disheartened, you'll get there.

MumInTheCity · 07/02/2018 23:24

Hope you feel better soon Groovee.
Well done to all the losers. I went out to dinner and to the theatre tonight and managed to stay on track, stuck to Diet Coke and chose wetherspoons for dinner so that I could have a jacket potato!

B - banana
L - Diet Coke chicken, noodles, veg
D - jacket potato, beans and salad (no butter and no dressing)
S - 2 hifi bars (HEB)

didireallysaythat · 08/02/2018 07:09

Weigh in today - why am I so worried ?

I've been on plan, I've drunk of loads of water, around 5 syns a day mainly on milk in my tea, and I've been feeling "lighter" over the last few days.

And yet I'm worried I've put on ?

Tweetypie30 · 08/02/2018 07:26

Good luck didireallysaythat. It sounds like you've had a good week. Are you new to the plan? Perhaps you're nervous because you're not sure if you can really trust the plan yet? I get nervous to before a weigh in. I've done sw several times before but never really stuck with it so this time around I still feel like a newbie. I've lost every week so far but I still can't believe it that I can eat chocolate, bread, pasta never feel hungry and still loose weight.I did a quiz in the latest magazine that might help.

Groovee · 08/02/2018 07:40

Didi I get nervous every week on weigh day. Just because I never know.

I have been doing it for 20 months and I just have to stand on my scales at home before I go in to get an idea of how I have done. I just don't trust myself not to burst into tears in public if I get a disappointment that I am not expecting it! Blush

Day 1 yesterday of my fast forward week. It wasn't as bad as I expected, although I think a lot of that was to do with a crazy busy day at work and not having time to breathe let alone think about food!
Today will be harder as I am working from home today. The fridge is very close and calls me frequently!

Vintage62 · 08/02/2018 12:13

Yesterday was the first day of my "eat more" plan. I forced down a breakfast of yogurt and berries. The problem was that this meant I wasn't hungry at lunch time. As I was at home I put together a grazing plate of chicken, raw vegetables and quark, and drank lots of tea with skimmed milk. I made SW cod Provençal for tea (ok, but not very tasty so I will add more garlic and herbs next time), served with new potatoes and extra green veg. I was very full, but realised at bedtime that I had not had any syns or HEb, so I had a Hi fi bar. It is another portion of the cod Provençal for tea today, and I had yogurt for breakfast. I will have a ham sandwich with bread from HEb and a large salad for lunch.

MumInTheCity · 08/02/2018 18:28

I'm always nervous at weigh in even when I know I've been good all week! Today's food:
B - banana
L - chicken noodle salad
D - spaghetti carbonara and salad
S - Hifi bar (HEB) might have a bag of walkers sensations poppadoms later for 3 syns

Groovee · 08/02/2018 22:22

Pork stir fry and noodles.

I made baked oats and took them to my Ds's school dance show. I ignored all the big cakes on offer.

Thanks for the recommendation about the slow cooker mushroom risotto a couple of days ago. We had it for tea tonight and really enjoyed it. I just used sliced chestnut mushrooms as I didn't have any dried porcini mushrooms and it tasted fine.

Oly5 · 08/02/2018 22:28

I also fancy making the risotto!
I’m amazed some of you are eating so little.
A typical day for me is SW English breakfast or huge fruit salad and yoghurt, toastie for lunch with lots of speed salad and veg, a huge portion of whatever we’re havibg for dinner (tonight it was SW Dahl which was very tasty), plus snacks of fruit, fat free yoghurt, and all my syns (tonight I had wotsits, a chocolate teacakw and a meringue nest with fruit). I’m losing 2lb a week. I do walk everywhere though (about 45 mins a day)

didireallysaythat · 08/02/2018 22:36

Ok. Nerves reduced - I lost 1lb. This is week 7 or 8. Total of 7.5lb off which I'm happy with, but deep down inside I wouldn't mind if it was more. There. I've said it. I need to get over it, don't I ? A loss is a loss is a loss.

I've set myself a goal of a stone off by Easter. I was deliberately cautious I thought. But now I'm a little worried that I might not reach what I thought would be an easy goal.

Silly really ? So much of this is in my head !

Groovee · 08/02/2018 23:20

@Oly5 my reflux is bad so I reduce my initial portions then if I am still hungry I'll eat more.

I find at the moment I need to eat little but often.

I can't pack food away like I used to. Ironically they told me losing weight would solve my reflux 🤔

OP posts:
Vintage62 · 08/02/2018 23:31

@didireallysaythat Like you I thought this would be easier than it is. I did this 15 years ago and didn't find it that difficult, but I had a new baby to look after so maybe everything was a blur. I am sure that my age (55) is one reason that I put on weight over the last year, and perhaps why it is so hard to lose it. (Does anyone know if there is information about SW and the menopause?) I know that we are not supposed to compare ourselves to others, but a woman who joined with me 2 weeks ago has lost 7lb while I just managed 1.5 lb.
