I'd get my thyroid checked out @Marmite17 if you are gaining weight.

Maybe reconsider your portion sizes on SW. Although food is unlimited you should only eat until comfortablely full.

What sort of things were you eating? Can you give us some ideas.

1200 cals 5 days a week doesn't work plus fasting for 2. SW gained weight What do I do?

Marmite17 · 15/01/2018 20:34

I take thyroxine but in spite of normal TSH have symptoms.

theotherendofthesockportal · 15/01/2018 20:41

@Oly5 thank you for the suggestions. Now to find a yoghurt I can stomach in the morning. I'm not a morning person at all!

Marmite17 · 15/01/2018 21:02

Trying high protein first meal of the day ; did lose about half a pound a week Now putting it back on Typical day Hungry: scrambled eggs, low fat sausages, tomatoes Later chicken casserole/fish/ and veg plus a few new potatoes Or chilli with a little beef mince, veg curry with boiled rice Generally eat 2 meals a day, 3 if working, now retired Just the breakfast if I need it on fasting days

I done the 5:2 diet before I joined sw. I found it got too samey in the end, plus I wouldn't recommend doing the 2 beside each other as it might be hard to fit your hea and heb in as the bread and milk/cheese are higher in cals. But if you still want to try I would say egg salad is a good meal to keep lower cals or any sort of salad really!

Marmite17 · 15/01/2018 21:24

Just find it very frustrating . Did lose 10 pounds a few years ago using calorie counting. Would have lost the weight 10 years ago in a fortnight. Took me 4 months 2 years ago.

Marmite17 · 15/01/2018 21:38

Will stick to what I'm doing for half a pound a month

Marmite17 · 15/01/2018 21:40

A week sorry!

calzone · 15/01/2018 21:44

Oly5 · 15/01/2018 22:23

Skyr strawberry yoghurt is nice and not too sweet. 3.5 syns for the massive pot

Oly5 · 15/01/2018 22:25

Today I’ve had two fried eggs in a sandwich for breakfast, SW lasagne and salad for lunch, an apple, a muller light, SW Thai green curry for dinner with extra veg

Princesspeach89 · 15/01/2018 22:26

Half a pound a week is still a loss! People say the slower it comes off the longer it stays off... not sure how true that is though 🤔
I think my weight is going in the right direction this week, I certainly feel less bloated and lighter but we'll see Thursday though...
Brekkie: Banana
Lunch: Leftover sw lasagne and veg
Dinner: Chicken, sweet potato fries and mixed veg, bisto curry sauce(4 syns)

caremummy · 15/01/2018 23:06

I've got an underactive thyroid (100mcg dose), low vit d and gynae issues. I find just normal slimming world to be best. Too low calorie (according to endocrinologist) can inhibit ability to utilise thyroid hormones.
My levels are fine, still got the symptoms, and lose okay.
Another thing I hear a lot of with people who find it difficult is PCOS, is that a possibility?
Had a cider and 3.5 syns of jackfruit, that's my night off done.

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 16/01/2018 07:49

Marmite - if you have symptoms your dose will be low. What is your TSH? Even in the UK 'normal' range it can be too high. I've been advised to try and keep mine at 1 or below. I have symptoms above this, even though the range says 4 is okay.

Testarossa1 · 16/01/2018 09:39

Today I'm having:
Branflakes, (heb) wth fat free natural yoghurt and 1tsp honey (1 syn)
Spanish omlette, lots of speed veg in, with salad, (free)
SW chips, chicken breast wrapped in bacon and veg.

Snacks are usually fruit, FF yoghurt, hifi bar/Alpen light bar (both 3 suns)
Have found it really helpful to plan out the weeks meals

Redpony1 · 16/01/2018 10:45

First weigh in last night since November, new group so different scales, 2lb on. Happy with that!
Considering i didnt have a kitchen for the first 3 weeks of December (plenty of microwave meals and crap!), and then it was Christmas, it could have been worse!

So, back on the plan 100%

I'm a fussy boring eater, who hates cooking and i'm never at home, so no delicious dishes ideas from me i am afraid. Just boring generic stuff Sad

TinyDoom · 16/01/2018 13:31

Hi everyone - I'm new on this board and sorry to crash a bit in search of motivation and advice.

I've been going to a local group since September and I've lost a stone. I find the group pretty tedious - it's big and there's very little discussion other than going around and discussing who lost what and what they want to lose next week. The leader calls me by the (same) wrong name every week.

I put on five pounds over Christmas and lost it all last week. This week I came to weigh in and put on a pound even though I've been really careful all week and have even picked up exercising again after an injury hiatus last year. I was weighed in by leader's assistant as leader sat next to her observing (separate ladies do the checking in and paying). I was pretty visibly shocked and neither said a word. I tried to collect myself as I put shoes back on, but had started leaking tears (it's been a bad week for other reasons - not normally quite so touchy), so decided not to stay for group and slipped out.

I get that it's January and it's super busy, but surely the leader could have said something? Am I expecting too much? The leader has a facebook group that's been full all morning of people saying things like "gutted with only 1 1/2 off this week" - which I can understand, but is, at this moment, making me feel like an utter and complete failure, and certain I'll never lose the weight I want to lose.

Should I look for a different group? Should I just give up and eat all the cheese in the world (joking... sort of)? Please help! And sorry for invading with a long and moany post...

Oly5 · 16/01/2018 14:03

Hi tiny, sorry you’ve gained. I think maybe the leader might not have been sure you’d want to talk about it.. like you said, you’ve had a rubbish week and maybe it was just obvious you had more going on.
I would forget about it and move on.. today is another day, this is another week in which to achieve your goals!! Stick to plan and keep trying.. you will get there. Some weeks are just pants

TinyDoom · 16/01/2018 14:14

Thanks Oly - I know it happens, but it's terribly frustrating when it does. I know there's not a lot more I could have done, too, and possibly not much the leader could have said (I did keep a food diary, and measured syns and healthy extras, and drank plenty of water, so there's not much else to cover).

Redpony1 · 16/01/2018 16:21

TinyDoom
Do you have your leaders telephone number? I would drop them a text, perhaps explain how gaining made you feel and could they suggest something to try?

Big groups are difficult for leaders, it may be they hope people that need help will reach out to them, i don't know.

But you've had a blip, this happens on any plan with or without reason. Stay motivated and really make sure you are counting your syns correctly (Just reminded me to check my yoghurt!)

Well done on your loss so far - it's fab!

00alwaysbusymum · 16/01/2018 16:30

Well first weigh in this year yesterday and I've lost 3lbs so happy - but felt like really hard work and really don't know if I can live like this for the next year

Any way next step is to start some exercise!

00alwaysbusymum · 16/01/2018 16:33

Tiny doom
Sorry to hear about the gain but a small gain in 1 week could of been caused about anything. If your sticking to plan it should work. I've tried to reduce the carbs like rice / pasta & bread when I want to lose more and increase the veg & salad

caremummy · 16/01/2018 17:38

Lunch/Lecture snacks: orange, kiwi, spinach, wholemeal pasta and skinny popcorn (6)
Tea: 'riced' vegetables, SW chips 2 LM sausages and ketchup (allowing 2)
Also had a coke zero, drinking lemon water.
Desperate need of more fruit and veg. I've been craving asparagus ! Shock
I'm off to the gym once I've blitzed the cleaning, will pick it up at the Sainsbury's underneath
