Congratulations Em! Flowers

muminthecity · 13/02/2017 20:49

Congrats Em! Lovely news.

Just checking in with my daily diary. WI tomorrow night.

B - nothing (half term lie in!)
L - chicken salad
D - prawn stir fry with noodles and lots of veg - 3 syns for sweet and sour sauce
S - bowl of shreddies (HEA & B) with a tsp of sugar (1), hula hoop pufts (3.5)

Ending on 7.5 syns for the day.

ClashCityRocker · 13/02/2017 20:59

Just looked on my TIO and saw loads of congratulations!

And thought I should come and add my own - congratulations em! What lovely news, and a wonderful birthday present.

Ooh basin my groups like a big love in. Our consultant makes a point of telling us how she loves each and every one of us. I kind of wish someone would say 'piss off, Sandra, you didn't lose weight because you've eaten four pizzas, three kebabs and two tubs of Ben and Jerrys this week - star week my arse'. (Well, I wouldn't really, because I'm quite likely to be Sandra!) In a really weird and perverse way I do find group helpful though.

Early night for me I think, feel cream crackers today.

gooseygander88 · 13/02/2017 21:01

FaithAgain · 13/02/2017 21:11

Oh Em that's wonderful news!!! Smile

I've been better today but Thurs-Sunday I haven't made great choices. Not total disaster but over my syns. Desperately hoping I scrape that 0.5lb loss on Wednesday for my 2 stone award then I can get back on track!

LavenderRains · 13/02/2017 21:26

Em how exciting! Congratulations Bear and a happy birthday present!!

Well, I went to ikea and had
chicken, leek & tarragon pie with mash and green beans. It was bloody lovely.
Have only had 3 syns today so hopefully the damage won't be too dire!

Shamoffour · 13/02/2017 21:38

Hi all, I'm fairly new to Mumsnet and just after some advice. I love the look of slimming world and have yet to sign up.....mainly because I'm 21 weeks pregnant and not sure whether it's sensible to start while I'm pregnant? From what I can see it's just healthy eating rather than a diet so I don't see why following it would do any harm? Has anyone else started it when pregnant? I'm fairly petite anyway but in previous pregnancies have eaten ridiculous amounts and put on 4.5st each time. This is baby no.3 and I'm determined to stay in slightly better shape this time. Any advice welcome. Thank you in advance! X

Shamoffour · 13/02/2017 21:54

Slimming world is the only healthy eating plan that is recommended by the royal college of midwives so yes totally safe. You get extra healthy extras and I think you need a letter from your midwife or she has to sign something. As you say it's more a healthy eating plan than diet. Wish I had followed it then I wouldn't have had five stone to get off!Blush

mrsclaus100 · 13/02/2017 21:59

Ah lovely, thanks so much sham. That's settled it then, will be doing it loosely until baby arrives then will go to town on it to shift the baby weight (plus any residue weight from the other two kids!) Smile

Lulooo · 13/02/2017 22:36

Okay, I know this sounds a bit stalkery but previously on the thread, I mentioned that Basincut's weight loss was similar to mine each week. Yesterday, I did a sneaky pre-WI weigh and saw that I'd put on 1.5lbs. Came here to post but saw that Basin had also done an early weigh and put on.... 1.5lbs. So I didn't write anything... thinking it might seem a bit weird.

Then today at proper WI, I've lost 1/2lb only (She maintained). But then I saw her meal yesterday and gawped, because mine was a bit too similar. Except that I did all butternut squash fries.

So there's something a little bit creepily coincidental here going on here or Basin is my long suffering DH who is playing a trick on me in return for having to listen to my SW chatter each day! Grin

In other news, I'm still 1/2lb away from my 1 stone award. Was hoping I'd get it today. I'm going to actually start doing some body magic just call it fecking exercise this week as I've cruised along until now but need to take it up a notch for a good loss next week.

Lulooo · 13/02/2017 22:40

Oh and Groovee it was the chicken tikka masala recipe from the app. I made 2 versions: one for the family using my regular recipe (I am of Indian origin so make curries regularly) and one for me using the SW recipe and theirs was just far better whilst mine was shite.

Maybe, it was because I compared though.

OwlinaTree · 13/02/2017 23:09

Congratulations em! What fantastic news. I guess that bottle of champers will have to wait till Christmas now!

Had a good day despite the lack of speed. Terrible Morrisons shop today, they didn't seem to have anything we wanted! No cherry Muller light, no mixed frozen fruit, no big mushrooms, no pineapple juice, no Skyr yogurts... The list goes on. The lady on the till said that they had had a problem with the computers so things hadnt reordered properly.

I'll have to go again now, annoying.

Weigh in tomorrow for me, really hoping for a loss this week of more than 1/2lb. Would like to get 2lb to get my 2 stone award but not getting excited about it tbh, seems unlikely based on last couple of weeks. I've been on plan though, so who knows.

00100001 · 14/02/2017 06:54

+1lb this week, despite doing extra easy SP Confused

BasinHaircut · 14/02/2017 06:58

lulooo ha ha I'm definitely not your DH Grin, that's quite strange though!

Fx we both get our stone awards next week!

mayathebee · 14/02/2017 07:07

Congratulations Em Flowers. That's fantastic news.

WI tonight for me and I have no idea how it will go. I have been ill so have mostly just been eating what I felt I could keep down - bland carby food mostly. Not enough speed, too many snacks/syns but not many main meals. It could be 2lb on, 2lb off or anything in between and I wouldn't be surprised.

00100001 · 14/02/2017 07:14

DH lost 3.5lbs despite eating the following this week

-Two fat slices of pecan pie and cream

  • an entire BOX of Jaffa Cakes in one go
  • followed by 2 Wispa Duos
  • 3 bagels with full fat peanut butter
  • cooked cafe breakfast with fried bread
  • 4 large whole milk lattes
  • 3 bacon rolls with fat still on
  • lamb with fat on
  • about 8 mini Gingerbread men
  • plus anything else he hasn't told me...

Groovee · 14/02/2017 07:32

001, I've heard a few people say SP days don't work for them but Extra Easy does. Hoping you can work out what suits you x

LavenderRains · 14/02/2017 07:36

001 that sucks doesn't it?! My DH is the same. He can put on 10lb on holiday. Get back home and jog to work for a week and it's all gone, despite eating crapConfused
There's no justice. ......

00100001 · 14/02/2017 07:51

It's just men lose weight easily and quicker at first. It will even out.

I hope!

BasinHaircut · 14/02/2017 08:23

001 see my DH finds it more difficult to lose weight. I've lost 13lbs and he has lost 8lbs. I do put that down to the fact that he has little understanding of the plan and actually eats much less than he should though, because whereas I will eat speedy snacks and use my syns as I see fit throughout the day, he isn't sure what he can/can't eat so just goes hungry until the next time I feed him Grin

I'm trying to get him to learn though.

OwlinaTree · 14/02/2017 08:26

Who is weighing in today?

So far I can see maythebe and me. Anyone else? Shall we do a predictions for fun?

owlina - 2lb(I hope!)
maythebe +/- 2lb

Anyone else?

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 14/02/2017 08:38

I'm weighing in this morning, I'm expecting a slight gain this week as I've eaten huge amounts this week and had nowhere near enough speed (and my period arrived this morning which explains the huge appetite at least).

owlina - 2lb(I hope!)
maythebe +/- 2lb
YoureMyWife +1 (hopefully not more than that!)

emwithme · 14/02/2017 08:41

Thank you all. I'm so happy! (Is it normal to walk around just patting your belly even when baby is only the size of a poppy seed? Actually, I don't care. I'm doing it)

I do need to stick with the SW plan though otherwise I will gain all the weight I have lost (and more). I had already planned a few days off this week(diets don't count on your birthday, obviously) but going to be sensible, well, sensible-ish. Going out for a lovely lunch tomorrow so that won't be on plan one bit (but the restaurant is worth it!) and then in a hotel for a wedding from Thursday to Sunday.

The good thing about this wedding is that it's DH's cousin so we will actually be able to tell his parents in person (they live abroad) rather than telling them on a crackly phone line or by email. MIL will also be an excellent help for the non-drinking at the actual wedding.

The bottle of champagne here has remained in the fridge. DH is looking forward to drinking most of it and I will have one glass (because I've been looking forward to it for so long, and I really shouldn't have tested until Wednesday when I had already been drunk but ho hum!)

Today's food plan:

B: Eggy muffins
L: Something nice from the sandwich shop near work, but I will have wholemeal bread, apple, pear, satsumas
D: Steak, chips (actifry), mushrooms, corn on the cob. Lots of birthday cake.

Good luck for those weighing in...
