Hi everyone,

I joined slimming world today. I'm a bit gutted to find things I enjoy every day are probably sinned.

Oats So Simple is synned right?
Smoked salmon?
Ryvita? Rybloodyvita????
How can I found out how much syn the attached picture has?

The app is crap!

I'm feeling frustrated to be honest

Um. I'm back, and I'm embarrassed Blush. I have been totally ignoring SW since about October and surprise surprise, I've put almost all my weight back on. I feel like an absolute idiot - I was only losing very slowly anyway, and now it's back to square one. I've also had that stupid cold that comes with a lovely three week cough, so I haven't been going to spin class either and generally just feel like a great lump.

Anyway, I've given myself a shake and am getting back on track TODAY. A stone and a half to go, and I'm aiming to be done by the beginning of May. That's 11 weeks and means I'll have to lose 2lbs a week, which is more than my usual glacial pace of 1lb a week so I'm going to have to be really good, including eating out and not hitting the wine at the weekend.

The good part is that I do find SW rules easy to follow when I'm actually cooking for myself, and I do really like veg, so I'm hoping it won't feel too difficult.

Today will be:
B: Weetabix and milk
L: Jacket potato with cottage cheese & pineapple, and a side salad - will probably use some syns for a bit of dressing and some bits to jazz up the salad - maybe bacon bits or crispy onions
D: Smoked salmon pasta - speed from lots of added rocket

Snack will be mini babybel mozarella and some greek yogurt if I can get my act together and go to the shops to actually buy it.

Smoked salmon is free.
Ryvita is 1.5 syns per slice or 4 for a healthy extra b (or at least the Dark Rye one is)
That mash is 3 syns for the 400g pack.

Have no clue about OatsoSimple other than the fact that the big pack is a HEB but the normal size one isn't. (Or something like that)

Thank you so much em, I appreciate it.

How did you find out about the mash? Or did you already know Blush

Hi waitrose

Oats so simple is synned, I believe, but other porridge options can be used as a heb choice.

I thought smoked salmon was free, but may be wrong about it.

I think some types of ryvita can be used as a heb choice - but then you'd have to syn your porridge.

The app is indeed crap. There is a syn calculator which roughly works online. Think you need to enter what percent of the meal is free food.

I bought some organic oats today, you know the ones in a big bag that you have to make up yourself. Are those synned too?

Thanks lab we will definitely do that on day 2 but I think the younger kids will want to go straight there when we arrive. We won't get there til lunch so maybe it will have quietened down w bit
Em totally normal my first 3 were desperately wanted (3 mcs) and took a while to conceive. Despite that I complete shit myself when test was positive!
I found out I was pregnant with dc4 when dc3 was 14 weeks old. I cried for a week even though we always wanted 4 I was petrified!
Gah forgot it was dds martial art class tonight so no soup has been made got a salad and some chicken from m and s and I'm eating it while I'm waiting for her.

Welcome Waitrose

You can have 40g of oats a day if you use it as your B choice. You can only have one B choice a day though.

So lots of free food, a third of your plate should be speed, one A choice which is dairy and one B choice which is fibre. Also 5-15 syns a day. Good luck.

It's a lot to take in at first but once you get the basics, it's really easy.

Ryvita is a HE B choice! Read read read the books.

I find using the website through safari is better for syns.

I quite like the app food search! Not too bad a weigh in.... considering! 2.5lbs on- but I'm on it again now! Apart from tonight's wine... but definitely tomorrow.

As an aside, I fell arse over tit on the way to group and grazed all my knee. It was very dramatic and blood was spurting through my jeans Grin looked like a raight tit!

Evening all

Still trying to pull back my feast at the weekend. Was busy all day so forgot about lunch so scoffed a banana at 2pm. Tea was chicken dinner. Few syns for the gravy and butter in the mash.

That spray bottle I mentioned the other day is fab. Really even crispy roast potatoes tonight. Much better than with a normal bottle of spray oil and it must use a lot less. If I another one I am going to get another for sesame oil and might even try some flavoured oil or balsamic/oil for salad dressings.

Hifis for my b choice with a cuppa shortly then am off to bed. Been jet washing the decking today. Garden is north facing so it's horribe and slimy this time of year.

No it's fine Mr Lipstick, you have your salt & pepper baguette, I will just have my shitty Nimble 😭

I joined online, I assumed I would be sent the books but no sign of them. Do online members not get them? Hardly seems fair as it costs the same!

Em!!!!!!!!! Congratulations. What awesome news!

love you only get the books if you pay for the gold membership.

Maintained tonight which I'm happy with as last week was far from ideal. Just didn't want to gain as I'm 1lb away from my stone. Will definitely get that next week.

Was drama at group tonight, 2 women had a row and there was lots of 'fucking bitch' etc etc. Poor consultant was in the middle of a new members talk and had to get up and sort it out. Was over absolute nonsense too. Facebook bullshit.

Anyway, dinner was naked fajitas and rice. Delicious.

Blush>

Terrible weekend diet wise. I did have some notion of SW through the weekend but in addition:

  • takeaway
  • wine
  • crackers
  • 1/2 bag sharing crisps
  • Apple pie and ice cream.

Bloody guests. Going for damage limitation and expecting the scales to punish me.

Whilst I've been stuffing my face Em has found out she's having a baby. Congratulations!
