Protonbomb · 10/07/2016 22:50

I have one. I do sweet potato chips in it. I know this maybe wont apply right now, but they are brilliant at sausages, no spitting fat, or smells and you can use it for the low fat ones, just drain on paper

It comes with a book, but not really used it.

Chips - if your family eat more than once a week, it is worth a purchase just for that.

I do not like frozen oven chips, or even the SW chips, I find them all dry and horrible.

If you buy the right potatoes - nadine, edwards, roosters or maris pipers you will get lovely chips and just use your frylight.

I've had the same machine for 6 years, only had to replace the lid once.

ALemonyPea · 10/07/2016 23:29

I have a halo, rather than a Tefal. Make chips, wedges, onion rings and jacket potatoes in it. Not brave enough to try anything else.

WingDefence · 11/07/2016 07:43

Thanks for your tips!

Just weighed in - lost 2.5!! Super happy with that after my clips recently and it's star week Grin

TobleroneBoo · 11/07/2016 07:50

Hi, can I join? I have the info but I am not going to the sessions. I lost 3lbs in the first week, and have now bought some digital scales as my other ones were very hard to read ( so possibly haven't lost 3lb) Grin

Lifeisontheup2 · 11/07/2016 09:09

Congrats Wing Smile

I've just weighed in and lost 3lbs!!! Very pleased the work is showing some progress.

WingDefence · 11/07/2016 10:21

Brilliant loss Life and welcome Toblerone! :)

Not sure what I meant by 'clips' in my post Hmm

B 3x scan bran, FF yog, sweetener, strawbs and bluebs.

pippinandtog · 11/07/2016 10:36

I have an actifry; have only ever made chips in it, with rooster potatoes and frylight, and they're lovely.
They are expensive to buy, but DH won it at his SW group raffle (with the agreement of members, they built up the prize money until they had enough to buy one as the raffle prize).

ALemonyPea · 11/07/2016 11:52

Well done losers. Welcome Toblerone.

Having my usual pre WI SP say today

B: mushroom, pepper, courgette and hea cheese omelette
D: ham and pease pudding salad
T: SW beef with veg crush read meal with extra veg
2 hifi bars for HEB. I seem to be addicted to the peanut hifi ones, luckily they're on offer for the next few weeks.

Lifeisontheup2 · 11/07/2016 12:26

I've had tomatoes, spring onions and 2 eggs all fried in frylite for breakfast, on nights again tonight so will probably take fruit and yogurt and have a piece of rye bread as my HEB, skimmed milk for coffee and tea is my HEA.

WingDefence · 11/07/2016 12:36

Wow pippin that is a great raffle prize! I'm just trying to work out if it is a can't live without as opposed to a must have. I'm happy making SW chips in the oven at the moment (DH makes great wedges too) and another consideration is counter space as we have a small kitchen with not much space and no cupboard space either!

I think I'm leaning towards not getting one at the moment Confused

pippinandtog · 11/07/2016 13:20

Wing, I think you'd be right not to bother: they're expensive, and they do take up a lot of room.
SW chips cooked in the oven are just as nice, as are jacket wedges, which are nice cooked with nando's peri-peri seasoning sprinkled on them, or season-all.

PositiveAttitude · 11/07/2016 15:48

Hi, Well done on the loses! You are all doing well this week, well done.

Toblerone -welcome.

I have a "halo", too and use it masses for most things that would normally go in the oven. I also use my slow cooker at least 3 or 4 times a week. Often go days without using my oven at all.

Weigh in tomorrow. I am fairly hopeful that it will be ok. I need it to be because I am away next week and I will have no control over what is available to eat for each meal. I am off on a retreat and it is full board. I have had a look at their example menus online and there is often a salad or jacket potato option for lunch, which will be fine. The evening meals are a little less SW friendly by the look of things, but I will try to make good choices. Breakfast could be ok and there is fruit available if nothing else! BUT this is also my holiday for this year, so I don't want to feel deprived! I am aiming for a few lb loss this week then maintain over my holiday.

Aspergallus · 11/07/2016 17:22

I'm starting to dream of cake...and baking...don't fancy scan bran cake. Found this recipe on Facebook today and thinking it could be quite low sun per slice as there's no butter/oil in it. I could use agave necta instead of honey and fat free natural yoghurt? But I don't really understand what's a tweak and what isn't? If anyone is bored enough, could they have a look and see what you think?

nomoreheroes · 11/07/2016 17:23

Spectacular fail last night as ended up drinking almost a bottle of wine while watching the footy with hubby!!! Having an SP day today to try and make up for it.

B: 2 scan bran/1 weetabix (Hexb) and milk (HexA). Fruit
L: leftover pea, spinach and mint soup. Slices of ham and more fruit.
D: Spag bol without through spaghetti for me - load of roasted veg instead.
One more hexb to use later but might jot bother as can't see me being hungry!

Aspergallus · 11/07/2016 17:23

Low syn per slice, obvs!

Aspergallus · 11/07/2016 17:25

Nomoreheroes I went a bit nuts at the weekend too...idle hands and all that. Thought I'd SP today too but forgot me and DH had a rare day off work and kids and we're going out for lunch. Only happens 2-3x per year so went the whole hog. Tomorrow is another day...

pippinandtog · 11/07/2016 17:34

Aspergallus, the chocolate coconut cake sounds lovely.
I would just tot up the syns in the ingredients and divide by number of portions to calculate the syns for your piece.

OrianaBanana · 11/07/2016 17:50

I think the reason I'm getting hungry is I'm not having enough protein (usually have cereal for breakfast then snack on fruit then maybe a salad with one protein item then meat and two veg for dinner).

I now have some mini quiches on the go and will try eggs for breakfast in future - does anyone have any other ideas? Smile

froubylou · 11/07/2016 18:32

Evening all

Worked out why I have been so carb hungry all weekend. AF just made an early appearance. It also explains the gain on my scales I am showing so far. But have until Wednesday to get rid of all the fluids I am retaining.

Today has been a light day to make up for it all.

I skipped breakfast and lunch and have had heck sausages, mash and veg with onion gravy. Heb will be a hifi bar and a choice in coffee. Haven't had any gin since Friday either and am tempted to see if I can get to Wednesday without it.

Will be interesting to see the effect it has on my loss!

nomoreheroes · 11/07/2016 20:01

Aspergallus...glad it's not just me losing the run of myself! every bloody weekend though Hmm

The cake looks nice...I would say it isn't necessarily a tweak to count the oats in your portion as a hexb. After all lots of people make baked oats for breakfast as that's allowed. A tweak might be if you used another free food item (not a hex) such as couscous in a cake. Or lasagne chips. Or roast chickpeas apparently.

Froubylou you've just reminded me I am due my period later this week. So I can blame that if I don't lose this week (though we all know it'll be the wine). Grin Only half lb for my 1 stone. Not much to ask for!!

Aspergallus · 11/07/2016 20:27

Think I'll give it a go, perhaps next weekend. Maybe if I have a low syn treat around I'll do less mooching around in kitchen cupboards. It's so annoying. I WI on a Tuesday, do great until Sat night and then it all goes to pot. Try and make up for it Monday and Tuesday but it's really hard to rein it in again in time for WI. I need a Friday WI I think!

WingDefence · 11/07/2016 20:44

I do what pippin says when I'm baking for school etc, add up all the syns separately (and it usually comes to something horrendous like 100 syns!) but then divide it properly. So I made a load of cookies, there were 35 of them and worked out 5.5 syns each which wasn't too bad in the end!

Have eaten 15 syns for the day but got my period so having port because I didn't want to open a bottle for myself (DH is out)! I really want chocolate too but I'm away at a conference Wed/Thurs so can't really go mad tonight.

Hulababy · 11/07/2016 20:50

Not been on this thread for a little while but still continuing.
Difficult time for dieting at the moment as it is end of term and a lot of leaving parties/end of year social stuff/people bring in treats for the staff room, and still to come - presents from pupils. So have been drinking at weekends, but still trying to watch what i eat at weekends, and sticking to it completely during the week.

And today;s with in (end of week 7) - I reached my first interim target - lost a stone :) - well 6.4kg which is approx 1:008 stone apparently. Woohoo!

Have had to buy several new pieces of clothes for my holiday as a result as now generally in a lower dress size. Holiday from Friday night though, for a fortnight - so won't be dieting when away and likely to put a bit more on, but plan on being a bit sensible and not going mad, so don't put too much back on!

ALemonyPea · 11/07/2016 22:29

Well done Hula. New clothes are a bonus.
