Hello all newbies!
I am very smug to report ....... A loss over Christmas!
After being everso scared at gaining so much on MILs scales, I found that at on my normal SW scales I had lost 1/2 a pound! Which just goes to show that you can claw back that holiday excess! Also, although I feel like I have been overindulging for weeks, maybe I was making more good choices than I thought?? Certainly been 100% on plan this week.
So as motivation for the newbies - start weight 16st12lb.
Todays weight: 12st 5.5lb. just short of 4.5 stone lost - or 62.5lb - in a year. I pretty damned chuffed. I avoid photos, but I may have to post one if I have a glam shot of myself...
I second what Cal has said. My top tips:
o The journey of a 1000 miles starts with a single step. Well done for owning your weigh issues and deciding to do something about it.
o Plan your meals. I cannot emphasise this enough - start with the main dinner/supper and work backwards. Build in your snacky syns, so you are less tempted to grab a bag of crisps at lunchtime. It also gives you something to look forward to.
o Try something new every week - it can be a ready meal or a SW meal or something you read on here, but try something!
o Buy the best quality produce you can afford. There is nothing worse than a floury apple or a tasteless tomato.
o Come on here at the end of the day and write what you have eaten all day. It really helps. ANd confession is good for the soul!
o DOnt save all your syns for chocolate and crisps and wine. Use them in your food to make you feel less like you are on a diet. DO you normally eat a bar of chocolate every night? Drink every night? If the answer is yes, then thats your problem, If no, then dont start now just because you feel you need to reward yourself with sugary snacks.
o when you have a bad food binge....and you will...because you are human! draw a line under it, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start again - immediatelly. Dont binge for another 5 days until weigh in. Diets dont always start on a monday.
o Be kind to yourself, and to eachother. Theres enough fat shaming going on out there, lets be there for eachother, support through the good, encouragement for staying on plan, strategies for avoiding danger. We can do it!
Have a great 2016 all!
