I have not been on track for the weekend :( Just silly stuff, not gone mad but wine, cheese and biscuits and a bit of chocolate ....it all adds up.

ANyway, I am determined that as most of the kids are back at school this week, I shall be as good as gold in the hopes if getting my head back in the calzone zone!

backinschool · 01/09/2015 14:49

Hi all,

can I join please. I went to my first SW meeting yesterday and weighed in at a scary 15st 2lb Sad. I'm trying to get my head around all the healthy extras, speed foods and so on but I can't believe you can eat all this free food and lose weight. I'm going to give it a good go though. Today I've had

B - mullerlight yogurt, banana, plum
L - pasta with tuna (tinned in water), boiled egg, tomato, cucumber, courgette and red pepper. Mango.
D - I'm having salmon and pinenuts (HeB) with noodles and loads of veg, garlic, chilli and soy sauce.
Snacks - fruit and 3 babybel lights (HeA).

Does that sound okay? Its probably more than I usually eat but starting a diet makes me a bit food obsessed and we've been in the house all day.

calzone · 01/09/2015 14:55

The calzone zone made me laugh fanny!!!!

Welcome back in school.

My breakfast was awesome today!

2 veggie sausages
2 bacon
2 eggs
2 potato cakes (made from smash and fried)
Beans
Tomatoes and mushrooms for speed

Welcome backinschool. It does seem like a lot of food doesn't it? My view is that it is basically back to basics - 3 proper balanced meals of protein, carbs and lots of veg or fruit. I think we have lost sight of the fact that that is how we are supposed to eat! We are bombarded with snacks and junk and crap everywhere on the one hand and various deprivation diets in the other. If we eat 3 meals a day of proper food we shouldn't really need snacks.

I had a very good day yesterday. Untill 6pm. Then ruined it with far too much wine, cheese and biscuits, a packet of mini cheddars and a slice of bread and butter! So annoyed with myself.

Back on track today. DH is now away untill late Friday night so I won't even be tempted by wine.

B - porridge with almond milk, blueberries, pecans, pumpkins and sunflower seeds.
L - Skinnylicious soup
S - 2 Ryvita, butter, cheese (hex a and b, 4 Syns for butter)
Dinner - beef keema with brown rice

Dreading weigh in tomorrow though!

calzone · 01/09/2015 15:40

I think a lot of us fall down by not wanting to face the scales!

This is probably the first time I have gone back to sw after a holiday. I joined the sw social team and made friends so am quite looking forward to seeing everyone and just facing the scales and weight gain.

OP posts:
CiderwithBuda · 01/09/2015 15:46

I didn't go last week as I didn't want to face scales but know I need to go tomorrow. I'm dreading the actual weigh in but not the meeting. It's fun and friendly and supportive.

And I have just booked to go to Dublin next Wednesday for a few days to my Dad - fly in afternoon so can still weigh in that day - hoping for a good loss that week to keep me on straight and narrow while away.

FannyFanakapan · 01/09/2015 15:53

The thing is, we wont have gained everything we have lost, so a pound or two or three....we could lose that again in a week or two.

Its just facing the music. I shall hold you hand Calzone, if you will hold mine (friday am weigh in).

FannyFanakapan · 01/09/2015 19:32

OFFS, I just need to get back into the swing of things, as its all gone pete tong today again.

B: eggs, toast, tomato
L: Sushi (3.5 syns) 1/2 small roll (3s)
Sn: DIgestive biscuit (3)
D: Chicken pie (5 syns for pastry) veg. and then...a bowl of custard! (fuck knows how many syns as it was home made and full of sugar, but having gone to the effort of making it for the sulking toddler, i just could not resist!)

Ah well, they are all back at school on Thursday and i shall start again!

calzone · 01/09/2015 21:42

Good point fanny.

We won't have gained what we have lost.

We should remind ourselves what we have lost.

Me: 2 stone 10lbs

Will be holding your hand and buda's hand this week. :-)

B......full English with potato cakes
L....smoked salmon HEB thin
D....small bowl soup
Spaghetti with spinach, pasta and parmesan

CiderwithBuda · 02/09/2015 13:44

Well I braved the scales. Gained a pound. Not too bad.

Couldn't stay for all of the meeting as was booked into my toning place so had to leave. Bought new magazine so about to read that for inspiration.

Lots of people struggled over last few weeks so I wasn't alone!

Fanny - yum to homemade custard!

FannyFanakapan · 02/09/2015 19:47

B: eggs, toast tomato
L: Leftover lamb tagine, 2 pears
D: baked breaded pork chop, risotto - I guess about 15syns in that!

backinschool · 02/09/2015 21:47

B: 2weetabix (hexB) with semi skimmed milk (hexA) plus sprinkle of sugar (1 syn)
L: homemade butternut squash soup
D: hairy bikers spicy lamb and chorizo rice (3 syns for chorizo) with loads of broccoli, peppers, courgettes, peas.
Snacks: fruit, 1/2 bag choc stars (4.5 syns)

backinschool · 03/09/2015 18:46

B: weetabix (hexB) and milk left over from yesterday (is that cheating?) and tsp sugar (1 syn)
L: mini babybels (hexA), ham and tons of salad and fruit
D: courgetti with pesto (1syn), salmon and broccoli
Snacks: fruit, 1/2 bag choc stars (4.5 syns)

Think that's 6.5 syns today unless I include the milk which was really yesterday's hexA.

We spent all day today at the soft play which is usually a nightmare on a diet. I end up having chips or a panini, feel guilty for eating it and have choc and/or pick at the kids crisps since I'm having a bad day anyway. Today I ordered a kids ham platter (ham, cucumber, tomato and some fruit) and took more ham, salad and my babybels to top it up. I had loads of fruit for snacks for us all and wasn't tempted to have anything I shouldn't, even when the kids had an ice cream. Feeling very pleased I can make this eating plan fit around what we are doing as a family.

Onwards!

backinschool · 04/09/2015 21:11

2lbs isn't much, I'm sure you'll get it off again this week.

I've been to a theme park with the kids today but took lots of free food to eat plus a freddo frog so it was okay. I'm getting really nervous about my first weigh in on Monday as I seem to have eaten loads.

Calzone - the chicken risotto sounds great, I love risotto. Can you share the recipe or is it online somewhere?

calzone · 04/09/2015 22:58

Backinschool......it was easy.

I sautéed in fry light rings of onion. Put to one side and added a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar.

Fried chopped onion and added arborio rice, fresh thyme and frozen peas. Gradually added chicken stock til rice was cooked. Stirred in cooked chicken. Mixed the balsamic onions in and Dh had Parmesan with his.

The cauliflower sauce is an ingenious sauce I came across for lasagne.
Basically, boil a cauliflower chopped up, in veg stock. Drain, saving the liquid. Blitz cauliflower with blender adding stock for consistency. Season. You end up with a jug of white cauliflower sauce which you can add cheese to for lasagne. Tis amazing.

I had some leftover from last night, heated it up and served it with the risotto as speed food.

OP posts:
FannyFanakapan · 05/09/2015 07:26

backinschool, I too recommend the cauliflower sauce - sounds revolting but actually really good as a creamy alternative for pasta.

Yesterday was OK:

B: Fruit
L: Leftover lamb tagine, (2s)with a slice of bread (hexb)
D: LM Sausages, sweet potato mash, peas, the sauce from everyone elses sausage casserole - so maybe a couple of syns there from their oily sausages. Small glass of wine (5s) mullerlight

So I guess about 10syn total,

backinschool · 05/09/2015 08:04

I'll give the cauliflower sauce a go. I'm trying to make sure I try lots of recipes now while I'm enthusiastic so I don't get bored once I've been on the plan for a few weeks. The risotto sounds lovely too - I've always put loads of Parmesan in and for some reason it didn't occur to me to just leave it out rather than avoiding risotto Blush.

Back after a fortnight off plan. Hoping to become a special constable (have applied), don't think I will get in but if I do will be damned if I'll let my fitness levels let me down. Managed a level 3 on the bleep test and never been much of a runner so I think that's good for me. Am going to work with a trainer in the gym to get up to standard. Surprised myself with strength though!

Brunch - wholemeal bread (HEXB), with scrambled eggs, mushrooms, butter and ketchup (3 syns). Banana. Glass of milk (HEXA)

Snack - mini cornetto, 88 calories so 4 syns. Then had some haagen daaz - 10 syns.

Tea - chicken breast with garlic and basil on top in oven as I type, slimming world chips too. Will serve with salad and ketchup so 1 syn.

18 syns

backinschool · 05/09/2015 20:49

B: apple
L: 2 l/f sausages (2syns), bacon, wholemeal toast (hexB), 2 poached eggs, piles of tomatoes
D: omelette with tomatoes, mozzarella (5.5 syns) and bacon with broccoli and cauliflower on the side
Snacks: Freddo (5syns), babybels (HexA)

Feel a bit bloated and tired so might have a very exciting Sat night and go to bed early Blush. Real party animals here.
