When do babies REALLY sleep through! Be honest!!

So far on this 8 month journey of parenting we've tackled the usual sleep issues, cat naps etc. Night feedings etc, still going strong... slept through once at 6 months. Hasn't since. Anyway, long short of it. Every mum I know has the same stories. Multiple wakes, screaming sessions middle of the night, co-sleeping till 2years old on boob in bed... etc etc. Heard it all. We've done gentle sleep training and baby responded well but then hits a new phase or gets sick and it all goes tits up.

So tell me, when did your babe ACTUALLY sleep all night long? Like the 7-7 dream

I'm still waiting 3.5 years later

beela · 27/01/2020 18:55

Actually 7-7?

Dc1 - 5 years
Dc2 - 18 months

edgeware · 27/01/2020 18:56

7-7 no but from 11 months he started occasionally sleeping through. He is nearly 2 and generally sleeps 7:30-6. Will wake 1-2 times if ill. Those get more sporadic as time goes on but I think the illness/teething wakings still count as sleeping through if they sleep through more often then not.

NearlyGranny · 27/01/2020 18:58

Babies 1&2, 12 months.
Baby 3, 7 weeks!

thewinkingprawn · 27/01/2020 18:58

DC1 6 month
DC2 2 years
DC3 4.5 and still waiting

Soulstirring · 27/01/2020 18:58

My son was three, hence we waited a while to ttc for no 2. He would drink 32 oz of milk in the night (scream relentlessly for it) until we went on holiday and I told him they didn’t have milk at the villa house. Problem solved 🙈🤷🏻‍♀️

My daughter slept well (not always through but perhaps only woke once) from very early on.

theculture · 27/01/2020 18:58

6 and 8 years later still able to count the number of nights all the way through on fingers over a month . . .

Did crack and let them come into our bed during the night which improved my sleep

There was a particularly hideous period for each of them at about 1.5/2 where they would wake up for about an hour or so wanting to talk and play and nothing could get them back to sleep until they were ready!

louisethedisease · 27/01/2020 18:59

Dd was 8 months old

Selfsettling3 · 27/01/2020 18:59

2.5 yrs most nights but not all nights.

crustycrab · 27/01/2020 19:00

Dc1 - 10 months

Dc2 - immediately from birth!

ColdWinterChild · 27/01/2020 19:00

4

ColdWinterChild · 27/01/2020 19:01

Years, should say

Milbo · 27/01/2020 19:01

2.5 for DS1 and not yet for DS2 at 19 months.

FATEdestiny · 27/01/2020 19:01

My third child was sleeping 7am-7pm without waking, feeding or stirring in any way from 7 weeks old.

He was sleeping solidly 11pm-7am from 3 weeks old. From Day 1 (literally the day he was born), he only ever woke once-a-night. Until 3 weeks old, when I never needed to feed or deal with a wake in the night again (aside from the odd couple of nights here and there when teething or ill).

I have 4 children. DC1, DC2 and DC4 were not this easy (although DC2 sleeping 7-7 without waking from 6 months old, when EBF, wasn't bad).

These kids do exist Smile

Her0utdoors · 27/01/2020 19:01

Obviously, they will always be my babies, but sleeping through happens after they finish needing naps, so not actual babies. My younger one is very nearly 3 and recently I've had more sleep than I've had since the first one was born over 6 years ago.

Dontstepinthecowpat · 27/01/2020 19:03

DS3 is 2.5 and we are not there yet. DD is 7 and doesn’t sleep 7-7 at least a couple of nights a week!

Her0utdoors · 27/01/2020 19:03

And by sleeping through, I mean not needing me for anything between going to sleep and being up for the day.

firstimemamma · 27/01/2020 19:04

Never did any sleep training, lots of cuddling to sleep, breastfeeding to sleep etc. I always comfort him every time he cries.

Started sleeping through once a week or so at 10 months (he'd never done it before then).

It gradually increased then since he turned 1 its been every night and he's one and a half now (obviously except illness and teething).

It's usually 7-7 but sometimes the wake up can vary. Last week once it was 5:30am and this morning it was 9am!

Justscrolling · 27/01/2020 19:04

2 years old and can still count on one hand how many times he has slept through. There must be an end in sight! At the moment he is quite partial to being awake between 3.30 and 5.30. Everyday I go to bed and hope tonight is the night!

Oly4 · 27/01/2020 19:05

If you mean 7pm-7am then between the ages of 2 & 3 (we have 3 kids).
I consider that to be normal and I don’t sleep train.

vixb1 · 27/01/2020 19:05

My eldest was 8 months. Once we'd properly established solids and she'd learned to crawl. There was a period where she was working on crawling that she literally didn't sleep for two weeks! Then she came out the other side, except for when we took her dummy off her. But that's a whole other story!

I have a 3 month old and she goes down at 7, wakes at 10 and 5 then will sleep until 8.30. I'm feeling pretty fortunate and hoping it isn't just a great phase she's in!

user1493413286 · 27/01/2020 19:07

It goes through phases; at 10 months mine did for 8 weeks then started waking then at 14 months could reliably go through until 5.30-6am then some kind of regression at 18 months that improved about 20-24 months. Now she’s nearly 3 and most nights she goes until 6.30 but every so often that doesn’t work out

Breastfeedingworries · 27/01/2020 19:07

Hmm my dd started sleeping 6:45pm to 9am from about 11 months roughly. Sometimes wakes or takes longer to sleep depending on day time naps. She used to be terrible sleeper but I put her good sleep down to us doing loads of activities. She usually naps 12:30-3 in the day too. I keep her very busy Grin then relax

CoteDAzur · 27/01/2020 19:07

They sleep through when you sleep train them.

That was 4 months for DD and 5 mo this for DS.

Queenfreak · 27/01/2020 19:08

Erm. 7-7. Never. Shes 2 years 10 months.
10-11 hours? From around 2.5.
