When do babies REALLY sleep through! Be honest!!

So far on this 8 month journey of parenting we've tackled the usual sleep issues, cat naps etc. Night feedings etc, still going strong... slept through once at 6 months. Hasn't since. Anyway, long short of it. Every mum I know has the same stories. Multiple wakes, screaming sessions middle of the night, co-sleeping till 2years old on boob in bed... etc etc. Heard it all. We've done gentle sleep training and baby responded well but then hits a new phase or gets sick and it all goes tits up.

So tell me, when did your babe ACTUALLY sleep all night long? Like the 7-7 dream

12 months when we sleep trained. He does 6.50pm - 7.30am now. If he wakes he puts himself back to sleep. I can't believe it

My first was 3 and a half
Second was 3
Between the first sleeping through the night there was a period of
A few months before I was pregnant again and then had insomnia through the pregnancy.
Most exhausting seven years of my life

I have 6 and all of mine were sleeping through by 16 weeks. I used to not talk to them when they woke at night and I didn't give eye contact either, keep the lighting off except the hall so I could see what I was doing. It was hard as I wanted to cuddle and coo over them but I knew I shouldn't, as I wanted to teach them that nothing exciting happens at night haha. I would bath and last feed for 7 pm, I used to also give a dream feed at 10pm. It worked for me, my oldest is now 20 and youngest are twins she 7, I did them same routine for all 😊

@HJ82 I bet you’re getting the picture that it’s not easy to predict! Some babies get it really early, others take much longer. If you really want to push it, you might be able to get them trained to do it earlier than they naturally would. Up to you if you want to do that or not.

5 years old. I’m
Not joking.

We were lucky that DC1 was a pretty good sleeper from early on - by about 6-8 weeks he was napping on DH and me downstairs in the evening then sleeping in his crib from about 10 through until morning, just waking for one feed around 4 or 5am. All went a bit haywire around 4 months but then by 7 months he suddenly started sleeping well again - probably 8pm-7am, with only occasional wakes. We've had a few blips due to illness or teething but generally he's been a good sleeper ever since then, and no thanks to anything we've done (EBF, feeding to sleep etc). He stopped feeding to sleep by himself probably around 15 months.

DC2 is less than a week old and is currently napping fine during the day but just wants to be held/feed at night Confused Hoping it is a short lived phase!!

I was very lucky and mine slept through from 8 weeks. It all went to pot at about 10 months up until a few weeks ago as she's back to normal sleeping through now. I think it's development leaps and just general sleep personality. Some sleep some don't.

My daughter is 2 and 4 months and has never slept 7-7.

We just about manage 10 hours

2020vision10 · 04/02/2020 22:43

Short answer... When they are ready. Mine done it very early... No sleep training involved and don't believe in it anyway. They do things in their own time.

copperoliver · 04/02/2020 22:54

Both children 10 and 12 weeks.
Once having food 12 hours a night.
I was really lucky. X

My 3 we're all 3-6 months except for bad teething and illness.

Now have to wake them up in the mornings.
