I found you all - Happy New YearSmile
We finally returned home yesterday after our disastrous Christmas in Denmark where we all got ill though we did manage to have a couple of enjoyable days. Ds did really well travelling, the sling is brilliant so glad I bought it. He only cried once on the plane and not for long at all as he was due to have a feed.
He still feeds loads though, in the afternoons/evenings he's almost permanently attached to me. He is 7 weeks now and I hadhoped this woulx have changed by now. Also will max sleep 2.5 hours at night and during the day only sleeps 20-40 minutes at a time occasionally he'll do a 1.5 hour sleep but this is rare. HV is coming on Wednesday and I want to discuss this with her as well as considering giving up breastfeeding but continue expressing if I can get this going properly.
Ds slept from 00.30-3 am tried to put him down twice but keeps waking, were in the lounge and dh will be up soon to go to work so will have to move back to bedroom....
This thread moves so fast will go back and read as can't remember who I wanted to comment on.

Ceesadoo · 02/01/2018 05:07

@Nicellen my baby didn't sleep well at night around that age. I bf but would mostly sit in the nursery or lounge through the night with him watching Grey's Anatomy.

Sakura03 · 02/01/2018 05:08

Oh yeah ive got a nappy screamer too!!!

Ceesadoo · 02/01/2018 05:08

@Nicellen it will improve and definitely try your best to sleep when baby sleeps in the day and not do much around the house.

HashtagTired · 02/01/2018 05:10

@Nicellen it's something your dc will grow out of eventually so try not to get stuck in the moment with it. It will pass. As Jellybean2017 has said, you could try colief. I depends on what is causing the wind as to what the best remedy is. If it's air intake when feeding, the gripe water and infacol may help. If it's more to do with digestion, then colief may be better.
As for poos, my ds used to be a once-a-week pooer, maybe a day or two longer. He's a bit more frequent these days. He's combi fed.

HashtagTired · 02/01/2018 05:12

@Ceesadoo I do love greys! Just finished season 13 so no spoilers!!

HashtagTired · 02/01/2018 05:15

I've been awake since 3am and strangely ok with it. Ds is soundo in my arms. I tried to put him down about an hour ago but he woke up. I do love my cuddles with him but I should really get some sleep. I'm not that tired but dh has to pop into work this morning and so I need to get up at 7:30 as dd will get up for then.

Lallypopstick · 02/01/2018 05:39

Hashtag I’ve been awake since 4am. Baby is still awake. I’ve fed him but no luck getting him back to sleep yet. Usually when he wakes up in the middle of the night, he then sleeps until about 9 so here’s hoping.

sleepycat13 · 02/01/2018 06:10

HashtagTired and Lallypopstick I have been awake for last few hours too. got 4 hours of sleep with ds from 10.30 til 2.30 then another hour of sleep after that first feed but have been awake ever since and ds does not seem to want to go back to sleep. have now resorted to moving to the sofa with a cup of tea and tv as I was getting pretty frustrated.

surely he needs more sleep than 5 hours!!! he tends to have a longish nap of about 2-3 hours during the day if I go for a walk or drive with him but other than that he only has half hour here and there on the boob.

Catscatsandmorecats · 02/01/2018 06:22

Oh meepmoop so sorry about your Gran, that's very tough.

I hope DS was kind to you last night

MrBloomsLeftVeg · 02/01/2018 06:27

Happy New year to you all. Not sure if this is the right thread for me. Mum to a 6 year old non sleeper. 2 hours total on a dreadful night and 5-6 on a very good night

actino · 02/01/2018 06:29

@nicellen, my Dd was like that exactly at that age. It does get better, she now has several predictable feeds overnight and sometimes sleeps between them. This thread is good for solidarity during the lung overnights.

My fever broke overnight and my left boob isn't as sore, so I think I just had a very nasty 24 hour bug!

AMagdalena · 02/01/2018 07:09

DD has been up every half an hr sucking her thumb from 4 am 😭 Full moon + Leap 5 is not a good combinatiob

AMagdalena · 02/01/2018 07:12

Just reading on another forum mums complaining their babiss were waking every 4 or 5 hours during leap 5. What the actual...Hmm

Nicellen · 02/01/2018 07:46

Thanks for all the support. Little one now fast asleep in his swing downstairs. What's people's thoughts on swing sleeping overnight? Last resort for some sleep overnight? Hmm

HashtagTired · 02/01/2018 08:30

The Sainsbury's delivery woke me up! I must have fallen asleep just after 6:30am. Luckily dh was already sorting it out. Last week they were late, this week they were early! Can't they just come at the time I ask for it to be delivered??!

HashtagTired · 02/01/2018 08:30

(Don't mean to be stroppy. Still a little tired and sleepy here).

Lallypopstick · 02/01/2018 08:53

Welcome MrBloomsLeftVeg - you can come here and moan / celebrate anytime. That sounds incredibly tough.

AMagdalena I wish I could get 4-5 hours again. There was a brief period of respite between the two leaps but it’s like a distant memory now.

xxrealistmumxx · 02/01/2018 09:03

Another crap night here.

DS took over an hour to settle after midnight feed. Awake again at 3am and another hour to settle. Awake again at 5am and didn't settle for any length of time. Handed him over to DH at 7am and got an hour and a half sleep.

DH just came in after settling DS for a nap and greeted me with i don't know how you're going to cope with I'm back at work neither do I DH, neither do I

Who here is past the 4 month mark?

xxrealistmumxx · 02/01/2018 09:07

whoateallthepercypigs my DS a just like this at 8 weeks. Sleep got better as his digestive system matured a little. In fact it got a lot better, only just realising now how much! Hang in there, it takes time for their tummies to adjust to the world x

sleepycat13 · 02/01/2018 09:12

xxrealistmumxx I'm not quite at the 4 month mark. ds just turned 3 months but was also 15days overdue. to be honest I'm dreading the 4 month regression. his sleep has never been good. apart from not sleeping at all in not really sure how it can get any worse.

when are you back at work?
I feel like I am just about able to physically and mentally cope with the sleep deprivation currently as i see it as my job whilst on mat leave but I dread to think how I will cope when at work. I do have a while to go yet but also a long way to go in terms of getting good sleep

xxrealistmumxx · 02/01/2018 09:13

nicellen I honestly think do whatever you need to to get some rest! Don't worry about bad habits or anything like that in the fourth trimester, just get as much rest whatever way you can!

Lallypopstick · 02/01/2018 10:14

I’m past 4 months. We hit the sleep regression early and aside from the odd good night, things have been pretty bad since 12 weeks. We’re 23 week now.

Meepmoop · 02/01/2018 10:19

xxrealistmumxx I'm past the 4 month mark, DS is 5 1/2 months. Sadly his sleep is still all over the place.

Had a good night. Two 4 hour blocks and then another 2 hours. All in my bed though. I'm still in bed as we've only just woke up, DS is feeding but looks like he's going back to sleep, not sure if I should wake him up

Ven83 · 02/01/2018 10:39

I'm sure you all know this but I only realised the other day that cot transfers are a lot more successful if you put down baby's legs and bum first, then the head. It makes so much sense yet it never occurred to me before to pay attention Blush

It was an ok night for us. I tried to get him to sleep in his cot for at least a little and the transfer was ok but he woke up 10 minutes later, I think it was his tummy. He's 14 weeks today and I'm looking forward to 16 weeks which is supposedly the next magical milestone when digestion is supposed to get a lot better.
