Lally We also hit 4 month regression around 12 weeks. That's also when I resorted to co-sleeping.
My DD is 5 months.

Lovingtyrells · 02/01/2018 12:04

Happy new year all! I spent the new year running up and down the stairs each time baby woke up.

I’m 4.5 months here still never had more than 2.5hours at a time even with co sleeping. I have accepted it now.

Baby has bad reflux and I finally got some medication that helped so DS managed to sleep longer than 20mins but he still isn’t very put downable.

I try the cot once at night now and then co-sleep after the wake up.

Things are still bad and much worse than anyone I have met in real life but they have definitely improved slightly with age and I don’t really use the sling anymore. I think 8 weeks- 3 months was the worst.

xxrealistmumxx · 02/01/2018 12:10

Oh god, was kind of hoping things might pass as we head towards five months but looks like we're in for the long haul. DS1 was a terrible sleeper up to 2yrs old. The thought of this continuing that long is just depressing!

sleepycat13 · 02/01/2018 12:28

xxrealistmumxx don't despair. this thread is full of non sleepers. the ones that have good sleep have no need to be on here at silly o clock in the night!!

Lallypopstick · 02/01/2018 14:33

I’m sure there are plenty of babies who are sleeping through by now - but as sleepycat13 said, we’re the unlucky ones!

xxrealistmumxx · 02/01/2018 14:38

sleepycat I've been telling myself that ds2 won't necessarily be as bad as DS1 was (now nearly 10) but his sleep patterns are so similar that I'm starting to give up hope! Maybe poor sleeping runs in my genes, I'm not the best sleeper myself.

At least there's MN now. When I was going through this with DS1 I felt so alone as all the other babies I knew slept so much better than him! Thank goodness for this thread :)

AMagdalena · 02/01/2018 16:50

So we've seen the paediatrician. Another poo sample to do and a scan of the head (DD was a ventouse delivery) and tummy. Definitely something is up. The doc is not convinced it's CMPA.
Poor little mite.
Might turn out I haven't got a shit sleeper, just a poorly baby :(

Lallypopstick · 02/01/2018 16:56

AMagdalena when will you have the scan and get the results of the sample. Keeping my fingers tightly crossed that it’s an easily resolvable issue.

AMagdalena · 02/01/2018 17:04

@Lally I need to make an appointment for the scan tomorrow, but we're going private (silly money over here) and will be seeing a radiology professor, so we'll get instant results, hopefully. The sample results will be back within a couple of days.
I am so disappointed with the care my DD has received in the UK, to be honest. Just kept hearing 'she's putting weight on; she's fine' and it took ages to get a referral.
No reason not to trust the doctor over here. He's well published and a dear friend of my late uncle.
And I am absolutely shattered.

AMagdalena · 02/01/2018 17:05

Oh and we're giving DD baby rice as of tomorrow and probiotics in the hope that the change to her gut flora will help her.

NinaMarieP · 02/01/2018 17:15

That's really interesting @Ven83. I did not know that!! I've been putting him down to sleep on his side lately as it seems to reduce his thrashing and thus wakings. He goes down bum then head that way and doesn't stir at all. I through it was going down on his side but maybe it's the order of bum then head.

I will have to experiment with this!

Meepmoop · 02/01/2018 17:21

Anyone else have a nap refuser today? Been trying to get him to sleep for the past 3 hours. He seems to be more interested in his feet. It's now 5hours between naps and we've got to go to PIL house in an hour.

They live 2mins away so may have to find a long way to drive so he falls asleep and then smuggle him in the house

Ven83 · 02/01/2018 18:11

@NinaMarieP Yes apparently if you go the other way round it triggers his startling reflex as he feels like falling. But I think side sleeping would also help! Do you flip him back to his back after you lay him down or leave him on his side? How old is your DS, sorry I forgot?

sleepycat13 · 02/01/2018 19:07

@Ven83 that's very interesting!! I had never thought about it but now that I do I put him down head first!! will be trying it bum first from now on. thank you

Ven83 · 02/01/2018 19:29

@sleepycat13 No problem! It's not foolproof for us but does result in success more often than not. I'd hate to be put down somewhere head first if I were being carried so it totally makes sense when I think about it.

sleepycat13 · 02/01/2018 19:38

I agree. I does make perfect sense!!

Jellybean2017 · 02/01/2018 20:02

Just checking in for the night shift. DS has hardly napped today so early night. He's an overtired mess 🙈

AMagdalena hope the scans go OK, must be a worry for you.

He will be 5 months on Saturday @Ven83.

He stays on his side with a blanket rolled up behind him. He's not yet able to roll onto his front. I know the advice is on their backs but honestly he was waking himself up constantly rubbing his eyes whereas now he's not doing that nearly so much and we all get a bit more sleep.

I don't think I ever put him down head first before but shoulders/upper back certainly. It does make sense. Why aren't these things in the useless baby books!?

AMagdalena · 02/01/2018 20:16

Jellybean yes, it is a worry, but we need to know what's wrong. Hopefully it's easily fixable like an infection.

As for putting down the unputdownable. I always put DD bum down first....Makes no bloody difference.

Lallypopstick · 02/01/2018 20:18

Baby went down after a feed - did the legs first transfer so thanks for the tip Ven83

I think I’ll try and shut my eyes now though I seem to have a second wind.

xxrealistmumxx · 02/01/2018 20:39

Taken over an hour to settle him and not convinced he's going to last any time so I'm hitting the hay now. Just hope I catch a little shut eye before the shenanigans begin. That feeling of being jerked awake just as you're drifting into sleep is the worst

xxrealistmumxx · 02/01/2018 20:50

And he's awake

Going to be a loooong night

DH just came and asked me if I can sort the tooth fairy out for DD. Errrr not unless you want the whole house woken cos five mins after I put DS2 down he's crying!

sleepycat13 · 02/01/2018 21:28

xxrealistmumxx hope you manage to get lo down soon. I'm currently trying to feed ds into a slumber. he is not having any of it. had the 12 week jabs today and I'm pretty sure he is teething too do think we are in for a grumpy night

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 02/01/2018 21:53

Hi all. Checking in for the night. Currently stuck in a cycle of feed - sick - change - repeat with DS. Not sure what the night will bring.

Amagdalena hope you get answers soon. Sorry you've had such a bad experience with UK doctors with this.

Oh god, DS has just loudly pooed...Off I go...

Meepmoop · 02/01/2018 23:09

Trying to get DS asleep thought I would try some shush patting, he found it hilarious....
