DD was massively overtired by the time Eastenders was on. Luckily my sister seems to be baby whisperer, she gave my DD a cuddle and said a few things about it being a wonderful Christmas and DD has been conked our since then. I may demand my sister quits her job and comes to live with me forever.

Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas'!

HashtagTired · 26/12/2017 00:55

I hope I'm not too late to wish everyone a very merry Christmas!

My Christmas gift from Ds was to sleep for nearly 4 hours in one go for two nights in a row. He is full up with cold though so I fully appreciate this isn't a new trend!! I'll take it whilst I can, though!!

I haven't been following the last few days so missed the posts. Hope everyone is getting on ok, and I hope that you had a lovely Christmas Day.

.....now the fun begins with the sales... 😋

Sakura03 · 26/12/2017 07:42

My Christmas didn't go to plan... we're abroad visiting my family and they all got ill with a vomiting and diarrhoea the day we arrived so they tried to isolated themselves from us. It meant that we had no Christmas dinner Christmas eve just bits and bobs of ordinary food that we could find in my mum's cupboards. My brother should have hosted but him and his wife got ill too hence why my mum didn't have any festive food in the house. Christmas Day my mum felt a bit better and eventually appeared but kept disinfecting everything she touched worried she might pass the bug on to us. We're hoping to have a Christmas dinner tomorrow all of us together. Today we'll have lunch at my grandmother's house. I'm currently sitting in my mum's lounge expressing a bottle. Dh has taken ds out in the pram for a walk. Ds slept in cot from midnight until 2.30 am then after a nappy change he joined me on the mattress on the floor which worked really well feeding and sleeping.

Sakura03 · 26/12/2017 07:46

Should have previewed before posting then would have corrected...sorry...

Jellybean2017 · 26/12/2017 13:00

Oh no @sakura03 such a shame 😔 hope you get to make up for it on a different day.

Ceesadoo · 26/12/2017 21:10

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. @Sakura03 Stomach bugs are rife atm. So sorry your fam got struck down. Hopefully you have avoided. Everyone in this house has a cold and I'm desperately hoping my son doesn't catch anooother cold. When I get home tomorrow I'm going to drink 20 of those Emergen-C sachets haha.

Have been co sleeping with my son recently and getting up waaaay less often than I was during Leap 4, guess now I have zero hope of getting him to sleep in his crib thought The other night he was crying and crying whenever I lay him in his crib after he fell asleep feeding then as soon as I lay him in our bed, i am sure he looked me dead in the eyes and smiled.

HashtagTired · 27/12/2017 02:56

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas. @Sakura03 I hope you eventually get to have yours bug free!

It's so quiet on here lately. I hope that's because our babies are sleeping so much better!
My ds have me a block of 3.5-4 hour sleeps over the past 3 nights so hoping this is a new trend. But really I think it has more to do with his cold than of a more generous new sleeping pattern. Leap 4 is looming too so I'm trying not to take anything for granted.

we had a lovely Christmas. We visited my family yesterday for the day and had a second Christmas Day. Back home last night and now I'm itching to get the Christmas decorations down, clean and tidy the house and be ready for the new year. Our tree etc went up 1st December so we've had a good run with the decs, but time they went away now. I love having a clean Christmas- free house for the new year.

Dh and I have tentatively started talking about a 3rd baby 😬😬😬 it all came about because we've by chance conceived both our children on or around Christmas and I joked about getting pg again this year, which we both explored the option of again. Bottom line is, I love having a baby to look after again, but I don't think I could handle 3. It works well now because I send dh off to school in the week so I just have ds. But to have two running around....er, no. I don't know how some of you ladies do it!!
Also, for nancially, the move from 2 to 3 is much greater. New car needed, size up the house to 4 beds etc. Although the latter not a necessity , it would make life easier. So we're sticking to two for now, but not ruling out a third just yet. 🤭

anotherexhaustedpigeon · 27/12/2017 03:10

I wish @HashtagTired! We're in the middle of leap 4, I had horrible d&v bug last week and then before I knew it it was Christmas!!

Leap 4 has developmentally been amazing - in the last week alone she has changed so much - but at the same time it's been really tough. Feeds are difficult, she's distracted and pulls away babbling ALL the time, even at night. She wakes every 2 hours at night and won't self soothe anymore and naps for exactly 40 mins like clockwork. She screams hysterically for no apparent reason, but also giggles through nappy changes! Hard going but amazing to watch her learning and changing. I can't stomach the thought of a second baby though, let alone 3!!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 27/12/2017 03:12

Just checking in! Had a run of two fairly good nights but tonight is not so good. DS only did about two hours before his first feed and has been restless ever since. He sounds very congested and keeps farting so I think he's in discomfort. I had a drink the past two nights so am worried it's because of this.

@Sakura sorry to hear how your Christmas went, I really hope things improve. So much illness around at this time of year.

Had a lovely Christmas although it was chaotic! The house is full of presents for both kids, no idea where we are going to put them all! Today was quieter, had a long walk and chilled out afternoon.

@Hashtag I can't imagine ever contemplating a third so good luck to you! I couldnt face this stage again - I'm looking forward to it being done with even though I know I should savour every moment. Hopefully this third one will be a sleeper for you if you do go for it! 😂

I think I might end up with DS asleep on my chest, he's just not wanting to be put in his cot tonight. DH has been taking him in the early morning since he's been off work so that's a huge help.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 27/12/2017 04:53

Ugh still awake. Anyone else around? Very quiet tonight!

Meepmoop · 27/12/2017 05:23

I'm awake!

DS hasn't slept in his cot the past couple nights after I thought I had cracked it. I'm hoping it's just because he's overtired from Christmas.

We've got more visiting tomorrow evening and then I'm looking forward to some quieter days.

DH shifts have fallen rubbish this year so he's working but off next week.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 27/12/2017 05:29

Hi Meep! We must stop meeping like this...
I know, i know...blame the bad jokes on lack of sleep

Hate that feeling when you think you've cracked it but then they have other ideas! I had a few ok nights and even two good (ish) nights but tonight we're right back to square one.

Right DH. You've had at least 7 hours by my reckoning, I'm coming to get you...

Meepmoop · 27/12/2017 05:36

Good luck! Hope you manage to get some hours in this morning.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 27/12/2017 06:56

So DH took him at 5.45. I've not been able to sleep, because all I could hear was him crying! Eventually got up and took him back. Problem is he's congested and can't breathe through his nose. I'm assuming it's a cold but no other symptoms?

I'm absolutely done in. No point in me even bothering to get any sleep now.

Lallypopstick · 27/12/2017 08:09

Awful night for us. Felt like he wouldn’t settle at all and I must have been feeding every hour. I wish I could nap today but I’ve got plans and my partner is back at work anyway. I’ve got to start going to bed earlier again.

Sakura03 · 27/12/2017 08:34

Thanks everyone but guess what now I've got the fecking bug... being sick and running for the toilet is just not what I want to be doing. I feel so dehydrated it's unbelievable I have small sips of water all the time but it's not cutting it. Any tips on what's good to eat and drink when having this kind of bug?
We were meant to have our Christmas today but that's out of the window...

Sakura03 · 27/12/2017 08:40

Oh and ds kept waking up during the night so didn't get much sleep at all. I'm hoping dp or my mum will take ds for a walk in the pram later on so I can get some sleep. We're flying home tomorrow... what a disaster of a Christmas holiday we've had

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 27/12/2017 09:39

Oh no Sakura you poor thing. Sending big hugs. A vomiting bug is just the worst. Keep hydrated and get help with DS so you can rest, and know it won't last long (but will be horrible while it does). Being ill when you're sleep deprived is just adding insult to injury.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 27/12/2017 09:40

Oh and I found nibbling at dry crackers was the only thing that helped. And flat coke when you feel a bit better.

AMagdalena · 27/12/2017 18:51

Ey up! How is everyone?
DD has been settling in well over here. She's been a little darling since the moment we left the house in the UK!
She got christened yesterday and slept through most of the service and let me settle her with a dummy (!!!).
Still co-sleeping for the most part, but she has let me put her down a few times.

She's due to begin leap 5 any time now and dreading it a little, but surely, it can't be as bad as leap 4!

Meepmoop · 27/12/2017 19:50

@AMagdalena we're also just entering the 5th leap and I'm also not looking forward to it either. I've got my fingers crossed for the both of us. If he would sleep in the cot I would be happy

Jellybean2017 · 27/12/2017 21:48

How are you now @Sakura03?
We have been having pretty normal nights so Co sleeping and up every couple of hours. Still in leap 4 so he's extra fussy. Still won't nap without significant intervention. Keep telling myself it will improve!

Glad you're having a good time @AMagdalena! And you got her to take a dummy! I keep trying but he's not interested 🙈🙈🙈

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 27/12/2017 21:54

@amagdalena glad things are going well and hope they continue to do so!

Ooft what a day that was. Never managed to sleep although did rest a lot. DS very out of sorts. Crying loudly unless being fed or sleeping. He did do some explosive pooing this evening so am hoping that helped. I'm feeling big time mummy guilt; I had a bit to drink over Christmas and wonder if that's affected him. Not a lot obvs, only 2 glasses on Xmas eve and two on Xmas day but prob more than I should have done given that I'm breastfeeding. Just so hard not to when everyone around you is getting merry! I'm going to hold off on any alcohol till DS is at least a few months, feel bad that I might have affected him. Can't think of any other changes to my diet and I've barely drunk much since he was born so it seems way too coincidental that after the days I have a bit, he's this unsettled. Meh. You can see why so few mums continue to breastfeed after a few months!

So here we are, ready once more for battle. He's falling asleep on me, I'm hopeful of a successful cot transfer and a decent stretch to his first feed...fingers crossed!

Anyone else dreading the night ahead?? I have my galaxy selection box for sustenance

Jellybean2017 · 27/12/2017 22:03

Definitely dreading it @Whoateallthepercypigs 😂 galaxy for sustenance sounds great though!! I forgot snacks Again 🙈 so just water for me!

Meepmoop · 28/12/2017 01:03

I swear the worlds against me. Managed a successful cot transfer yay however DH is snoring like an absolute trooper and as much as I kick him he doesn't stop. The dog started to bark as he needed to go toilet after counter surfing earlier and now DS just woke up after I finally started to drift off. No sleep for me and wasn't even the babies fault
