Glad to hear flights went well.

Can't believe it is Christmas Eve!

Good start to the night here after a scream fest. Managed to co sleep laying down from 9.30ish until 4ish with s couple of short wake ups. I then changed nappy and he was wide awake cooing and smiling! So cute but wrong time of day! Trying to feed him back to sleep now. Would like a few more hours sleep! Lots of Xmas wrapping to do but luckily we are not doing any entertaining this Xmas!

Meepmoop · 24/12/2017 05:34

Ive managed 2 hours, DS now feeding again. Hopefully I can get some more in.

actino · 24/12/2017 06:08

Good night here. I slept 1030-420 with just one wake up to feed at 2. She's been awake since 420, though, after a feed but I feel really rested so I'm ok reading my book and messing around in the internet (though I an currently trying to feed to sleep as a few more hours would be nice).

6monthsandcounting · 24/12/2017 06:57

Hi all. I'm officially crap at mumsnet after a flying start when my boy fed for an eternity longer. Now that we don't feed to sleep (at 7.5 months), and his long nap is taken in a moving pram, it's bloody hard to post without the risk of walking into a lamp post.

@JessYouMe that sounds hideous and familiar. How long has it been like that? Are you weaning?

@Ven83 I had a similar experience with Mil recently. Came to help whilst DP was away. I ended up looking after her and myself...yes of course I'm happy to make you coffee/lunch/clean up whilst you take a long shower, when I've been up for months, haven't showered for 3 days, stink of milk and am holding a wriggling baby. I am always incredibly grateful of offers of help but that was a tough five days. Clearly there is a switch that can erase all memory of how difficult early parenthood can be. In laws being the most common users.

Happy Xmas eve to you all!
How the hell am I going to wrap DP's presents today without the wrapping paper getting eaten by my elf?

AMagdalena · 24/12/2017 20:33

And DD lasted 1 hr in the travel cot.

Merry Christmas, everyone. May your LO's treat you to a night of unbroken sleep. Who am I kidding, right?!

Lallypopstick · 24/12/2017 21:04

Hoping for a silent night for all!

Lovingtyrells · 24/12/2017 21:26

Will be up all night online shopping Christmas sales Wink

Jellybean2017 · 24/12/2017 21:34

Merry Christmas one and all!

DS has been screaming for over an hour
🙈

Meepmoop · 24/12/2017 23:16

Father Christmas has gifted me a night of sleep yet!

We've been visiting all day today so he's very overtired

Meepmoop · 24/12/2017 23:20

Hasn't that should be. I wish he had

Ceesadoo · 25/12/2017 00:18

Merry Christmas all. Staying away from home (at father in laws) with a baby is soooo much more trouble than it's worth. ESP with a screaming anti social baby. Hoping this night passes quickly. Can't wait to go home.

There's a few loose Celebrations beside me on the bedside table.. it's fine to have chocolate after midnight isn't it? It's Christmas after all.

actino · 25/12/2017 01:26

Dd is cluster feeding and screaming in between feeds.

I'm already dreading going to my in laws next week. The while point is for relatives to meet the baby so she's gong to be passed around. Dh keeps trying to get me to go to the pub while we're there and doesn't seem to get that I can't (& won't) leave her for more than an hour. He means well (wants me to relax and socialise) but just doesn't get it some times.

@cesadoo, I keep a bar of chocolate on my bedside table at all times to keep me awake during overnights!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 25/12/2017 02:53

Merry Christmas all!

@ceesadoo rule number one of No Sleep Club: it is ALWAYS ok to eat the chocolate! I am very envious - I only have a box of Nakd bars for my midnight grazing.

Not too bad a night here. DS slept till 220 and is now feeding. Well see how the rest of the night goes. Hope things are going better for those of you with rocky starts. Surely Santa can see we've all been good and deserve a good night's sleep??

ValentineFizz · 25/12/2017 03:17

Merry Christmas all! Xmas Smile Chocolate must be consumed in the early hours for night feeds, think of those extra calories we're burning! Grin

We have a DS who napped for only 20 minutes yesterday (7 weeks old) however he's only now woken for feed #1 after going to bed at 9pm - result! Xmas Grin

Jellybean2017 · 25/12/2017 03:59

All this talk of chocolate 🍫 is making me hungry and I forgot to bring snacks last night 🙈

Ven83 · 25/12/2017 04:29

Merry Christmas everyone! Fingers crossed for a Christmas miracle of good sleep and well rested babies for all of us!

DS woke himself up grunting, arching and straining to pass wind :( I tried rubbing his tummy and pressing his legs but it didn't help. Now feeding him hoping that milk helps things a bit. I did eat really bad yesterday, pizza and takeaway, feeling extra guilty about that now.

@actino A (childless) neighbour asked me incredulously "you haven't been out without the baby yet?" when DS was 6 weeks.
And DH is consistently disappointed I'm not having a glass of wine or the like on occasions with him. I have to keep pointing out why that's a bad idea:

  • I cosleep with DS
  • I'm tired enough as it is, don't need alcohol to make me sleepier
  • it's a hassle and a waste to have to express and dump it
Besides, I don't even feel like it particularly. Still, he always asks "not even a little bit?" Ugh
NinaMarieP · 25/12/2017 04:54

Merry Christmas everyone!

After more than a month of awful sleep and near constant co-not-really-sleeping my DS has finally decided he can spend a few hours at a time in his snuzpod without waking up screaming, hallelujah!

My OH is off until the 2nd so we have been sharing the night feeds too. The trade off for sleeping in his own bed is the return of the midnight feed but I haven't done that in a couple of nights so it has been fine.

Got 5 hours 50 sleep from going to bed at 10pm, not sure any other Christmas present will top that 😄

actino · 25/12/2017 05:50

I've said that I'm happy to go somewhere in the afternoon where Dd can also go, because I'd also like to socialise a bit. But, I breastfeed and Dd sometimes cluster feeds in the evening, so I can't leave her.

A week ago he was asking what I wanted to do for New Years and I was like 'uh, I'm probably going to go to sleep at 9pm on new years...'

I don't want to bash him too much, he's generally really good and involved, he just sometimes doesn't get it.

Lallypopstick · 25/12/2017 08:14

Today of all days, my baby is sleeping in. I’m up, waiting for him or my partner to wake up so we can open presents!

Hope everyone has a good day, Merry Christmas to you all.

Jellybabie3 · 25/12/2017 08:38

So we took DS to the pub last night as is our tradition. He then become ovetired and woke me 7 times between 11pm and 6am. We opened one present and he feel asleep and has ironically been that way since!! Come on baby wakey wakey.

Merry Christmas!! And thanks for all your support xxx

yolkybokey · 25/12/2017 09:31

Merry Christmas everyone, I hope we can all enjoy the day through our fog of tiredness!

DS is playing with one of his presents - Sophie the giraffe. He's getting to the age where he can start to play with things which is lovely

actino · 25/12/2017 10:37

Merry Christmas everyone!

Dh & Dd worked together to give me 3 hours of sleep this morning :)

Sakura03 · 25/12/2017 11:34

Merry Christmas everyone. After an awful night yesterday and 2 unsuccessful cot transfers I took my mattress from the fold up bed and put on the floor in my mum's lounge and stayed there with ds from 9.30 pm until 9 am with two nappy breaks in between. I'm not sure exactly how much I/we have slept as ds was feeding/comforting quite a bit but I've definitely had a few hours kip. Only problem is that the mattress isn't that thick so my back is rather stiff, got to think of some more padding for tonight's sleep otherwise can't do it again. I feel quite groggy though probably due to the overall sleep deprivation... ds is feeding loads... going to my grandmother's for a family gathering lunch tomorrow, I'm slightly anxious about having to feed ds while we're eating and several times while we are there...

Jellybean2017 · 25/12/2017 19:48

Wondering whether I am going to have an overtired baby on my hands this evening... Hope everyone had lovely days 😊

Meepmoop · 25/12/2017 22:47

Merry Christmas, hope you've all had a lovely day.

I am amazed at how much everyone has bought for DS. There is mountains of it. I don't feel bad about not buying him anything now.

@Jellybean2017 I am wondering the same. His naps have been non existent today but he has been in such a good mood. He didn't even fuss for the 2 hours we were playing articulate.
