Hope everyone finds the new thread 😂 and new chatterboxes are welcome to join us and battle through the night feeds together (with or without the assistance of EBLL [Ewan's back left leg!) 🐏

I've been feeding for 1 and half hours. Does this get shorter? And those that are recording feeds. Do you record it when you know they are comfort sucking? Feeling abit like a dummy right now

GingerHanna · 28/11/2017 06:34

And he’s down! Only took 15 minutes of mama cuddles and then transfer to the sleepyhead thingy a friend has lent us. First time using it and ohhhhh this won’t be the last.

Now breakfast inc big mug of coffee and then pumping. Joy.

GingerHanna · 28/11/2017 07:04

And he’s up! Am in the middle of pumping so took him upstairs to DH in the spare room. It’s 08:00 and DH has had six solid hours so it’s fair.

actino · 28/11/2017 08:33

Sounds like a rough morning for a few others. DD actually slept in her basket from 5-8, meaning that I my first 3 hour stretch of sleep since Wednesday. Get some rest everyone, I'm sure I'll be chatting with some of you later tonight.

Jellybean2017 · 28/11/2017 08:46

Ugh what a night. Two massive poos from DS! He's now overtired so I'm laying in bed trying to feed back to sleep but vaccinations in a couple of hours so need to get up! Looks like most if us had rough nights, hope we can all rest at some point today.

Baby wearing is a great idea, I was meant to buy a nice soft sling for our ds but never got round to it. We have a baby Bjorne which our DS loves but he's just too heavy to carry for any length of time now. I wish I'd bought a sling when he could still go in one.

I also wish I'd tried to get my ds to take a bottle sooner, I never bothered trying one due to breastfeeding going so well from the off. Our dd really struggled to gain weight even though she fed constantly, I glanced at my kids red books and my little boy was heavier than our daughter at 4 months than she was at 12 months. Madness she was on the 2nd centile vs him on the 90th!! I've been so chuffed he's gained weight so easily that I've never thought of giving a bottle. That was until I had a girls weekend away and a wedding to go to, both had to include a 4 month old in the end!! I'm going to try them expensive bottles that look more like a boob and see if that works. I'm missing my work Xmas do next week because I can't leave him, I'm a social outcast!!

Sakura03 · 28/11/2017 09:44

@GingerHanna thank you for responding, excellent will definitely have look online for one.
Roughly 6.5 hrs sleep again between 0.10-9.10 am with 3 breaks in between. I could do with a bit more or am I being greedy?
Was hoping to be able to prepare dinner in the slow cooker at some point if only I could put ds down for a bit - this is where a sling or wrap would come in handy.

Jellybabie3 · 28/11/2017 09:48

What sort of wrap do you all have? I have a baby bjorn but maybe theres something easier

Min88 · 28/11/2017 09:58

Have been reading this thread whilst awake at night with my Velcro baby, 7 weeks! This is my second DD who like her sister, only wants to sleep curled next to me! I ditched the Moses and got next to me crib....we are yet to succeed sleeping in there...also I think she may be scared of Ewan??? Shock wishing everyone the best of luck for sleeps today and tonight!

Min88 · 28/11/2017 10:00

@Jellybabie3 the close caboo is an excellent soft sling!

GingerHanna · 28/11/2017 10:03

@Jellybabie3 I have a long woven fabric wrap and DH has a Stokke. Silly pic attached to show what I mean with mine.

sleepycat13 · 28/11/2017 10:17

@GingerHanna love the pic!! baby looks soo cosy. do you find the wrap easy to do? I'm currently using a mummaruga zen sling. I find it very easy to put on as it has a couple of buckles but it doesn't look as comfy as your wrap does although ds loves it.

NinaMarieP · 28/11/2017 11:10

@Jellybean2017 my LO got his 16 week needles this morning. So I'm ready for a horrific 24 hours if it's anything like last time. Incidentally he did a monster poo in the waiting room and it was down to his ankle and dripping from his joggers... he must have known what was coming!

But we had a good night last night. He slept 7.30-2.30 and then 3.30-7.30 with just one brief wake up at 5.40 because of wind.

His hand (the one out of his swaddle) was icy-cold as well as the room had dropped to 16.9. He had three blankets on but wouldn't keep his arm under them. I may have to put gloves on him in the night!

It's a faff taking the pram out here too, as it's down a stairway with a landing in the middle then down a few steps and up a few more. But he's so bloody heavy in the sling (close caboo) I can't manage him plus the changing bag so the sling is only for short walks when I really can't be bothered with the pram.

@Jellybabie3 I tend to count comfort sucking as long as there's some swallowing. He doesn't do that an awful lot though so it doesn't skew my 'statistics' that much.

AMagdalena · 28/11/2017 11:12

What a crap night...DD was up every half an hr for the first 3-4 hrs and then I stopped clock watching. God knows.
😒

AMagdalena · 28/11/2017 11:34

@Halfdrankbrew if you're planning on trying a mimijumi bottle (looks like a boob), I am afraid my DD didn't have a better reaction to it than to other bottles...

Jellybean2017 · 28/11/2017 11:53

Just back from our injections @ninamariep. Preparing for a long day on the sofa with DS as I guess he will want to feed lots. Got to go back in four weeks as apparently they missed one of the injections he should have had first time 🙈 annoying as thought that was it until he is one!

We also have a close caboo and I agree it's comfy 😊 also invested in an ergo omni at the weekend 😳 which is also good.

OP posts:
WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 28/11/2017 12:22

Halfbrewed another one echoing about the mimijumi bottle - we pinned our hopes on this and it didn't work! IMO (which doesn't count for much) if baby is a bottle refuser, they're probably going to reject all bottles so you might as well persevere with the one you have. But that's just what I think and not scientifically proven!

I have a close caboo which is excellent, moved onto an Ergo 360 for when DD got bigger which I love, i's good for the back too and is manly enough for DH to wear too! Had a baby Bjorn but found it didn't have great back support.

Just been out for an autumnal walk with DS in the caboo, was lovely.

Today would have been DS's due date!!

theotherendofthesockportal · 28/11/2017 12:26

I also had a bad night, I was punished for trying to start a routine. DD woke at 2.30 and 6.30. I don't know wether to scrap the routine idea for a bit as my HV came round this morning and reminded me to use DD's corrected age which is 1 week and 5 days.

HashtagTired · 28/11/2017 12:51

I use the connecta. Image below (it isn't me, just a pic i found on google).

I used to wrap my dd a lot when she was little, but I'm less inclined to do so again. I have a beautiful wrap though! I also got another wrap converted by Opetai (spelling?) which was a buckle around the waist then wrapping on top so a hybrid wrap/carrier. That's for when Ds is a bit older. My dd lived in it. But I won the connecta in a raffle so gave it a go with ds and it's brilliant. Buckle around the waste then two straps which cross over at the back and buckle in. So, so easy. It also does back carrying too.

Worth getting to a local sling library to try a few different ones out. They aren't cheap.

NinaMarieP · 28/11/2017 13:39

How's it going so far @Jellybean2017? Here we had a 2 hour sleep which is longer than normal but he just played in his chair for half an hour and been giving us big smiles. He would usually last longer than that before getting grumpy but it's so much better than last time! I'm hoping the rest of the day will be easier too.

AMagdalena · 28/11/2017 13:46

Oh, I see you've been discussing slings 😊
I have a close caboo which is excellent, but I find it really warm.
I recently got a Free To Grow Tula which is supposed to be suitable for newborns, but I can't imagine putting a newborn in it. My DD is 17 weeks and has excellent head control and is generally a strong baby. Otherwise, I'd definitely wait.

Jellybean2017 · 28/11/2017 13:47

He has been quite smiley. He had a nap while he was feeding earlier and is now having one in the sling. So far so good but nervous for tonight. Must remember to keep dosing him up with the Calpol!! Need to grab some lunch before he wakes too! Oh think I may be too late, eek!

OP posts:
NinaMarieP · 28/11/2017 15:03

We have now reached the inconsolable screaming stage @Jellybean2017 ☹️. He was going so well too. We have given more calpol and stripped him to his vest as he is starting to feel warm.

Jellybean2017 · 28/11/2017 15:33

Oh no!! DS is firmly attached to the boob, asleep. He is due more Calpol so will be giving it the second he wakes up... Don't think he feels hot... Yet! That cry when they have their injections really pulls on the heartstrings 😔

theotherendofthesockportal · 28/11/2017 15:37

I had a visit from the HV today, she advised me to start having an hour afternoon nap. I've come up to bed and popped DD into her crib, just starting to nod and DD started shouting at me. She is now lying on top of me whilst I try to keep my eyes open. Once she is asleep again I'll pop her back in the crib and try and nap.
