Hope everyone finds the new thread 😂 and new chatterboxes are welcome to join us and battle through the night feeds together (with or without the assistance of EBLL [Ewan's back left leg!) 🐏

I attempted the fabled feed/pee @GingerHanna but it mainly just promoted him to stop feeding. Which tbf was a good thing as he'd been going for well over 2 he's at the point!

Not feeling hopeful for another 5 hr stretch tonight as he's been asleep the last few hrs.

Got my tear appointment catch up thing tomorrow so that'll be... fun...

Jellybean2017 · 27/11/2017 23:49

Awake for the fourth time already,🙈

Feed #1
Back in the old routine. Fingers crossed I get a few more 💤

Halfdrankbrew · 28/11/2017 00:56

I've been having a right old nightmare the past few days sleep wise, I've got a little one who likes to eat every 2-3 hours, a teething toddler and a husband who does ridiculous long hours so it's mostly me up at night etc.

I should be sleeping now but I've literally not had a minute to myself today since I woke up. I just want to sit and relax a bit, I find it so tough I never have any time just me. Our little boy still won't have a bottle so I'm never away from him. I'd love to be able to just have a couple of hours not with a baby stuck to me, he's 5 months old this week so it's a long time to go with a person glued to you!!

I managed a couple of nights out and meals out with my husband when our daughter was only a few months old, it felt great just having a night off duty. If only he'd take a bottle too!!

Jellybabie3 · 28/11/2017 01:00

Hmm. Ds is awake. Hes been asleep for 6 hours. Just gone to change his bum and its dry??? Hes had wet nappies (8) up until then yesterday. Is that normal???

GingerHanna · 28/11/2017 01:07

Just done the handover from DH. By handover I mean he came in to wake me, got DS out of the crib and I took over. I got a good four hours solid sleep and my word I feel different. Still tired a sleepy but glad to have had some proper shut eye.

Now on feed two of the night (not counting the 19:00-20:30 cluster wreck) and wondering what my shift will see... DH has now gone to sleep in the spare room and after this feed has been when DS starts playing up. We shall see.

First appointment with the Consultatiebureau today so want to be good for then. They are a government health care organisation and keep a check on babies/kids and offer parental support until they are four years old. First appointment is with the docs... we have lots of questions!

Jellybabie3 · 28/11/2017 01:08

Just peed on me..twice.

Halfdrankbrew · 28/11/2017 01:09

8 wet nappies is plenty in 24 hours I'd have thought (I've never actually counted wet or dirty nappies this time around though). Did you feed him before the 6 hour nap? Sometimes I'll feed my ds and when I go to check him a few hours later he's still dry.

Lovingtyrells · 28/11/2017 01:49

2 hours of sucking and then 2 hrs of sleep. Whyyyyyy, does expressed milk in bottle help reduce the manic sucking in older newborns?

GingerHanna · 28/11/2017 02:00

I got distracted by a new FB group I have joined and didn’t keep DS awake on the boob. So now I don’t know if he fed enough and then fell asleep or just fell asleep. Tried to wake him for the other boob but he was not having it. Oh well, I’ll know in an hour or two if he wakes me up. Just pumping now whilst geeking over wraps - bought my first wrap on Saturday and love love love baby wearing, as does DS!

HashtagTired · 28/11/2017 02:08

Feed #2
@GingerHanna wraps are addictive. I bought a couple last time and I got one converted by Opetai and I love it. Can't wait until Ds is big enough for it.

HashtagTired · 28/11/2017 02:09

It's such a privilege to breathe freely out of both nostrils.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 28/11/2017 02:14

@halfdrankbrew I sympathise on the bottle refusal. My DD never took a bottle. She went straight from the boob to a silly cup. It was hard work. It meant I couldn't attend a lot of social occasions, had to miss out on various hen nights I'd been hoping to go (which were months after DD was born so I had assumed I'd be fine!) but it also meant no respite for me, and no chance for me and DH to get a night off together. We tried so many bottle types and spent a lot on it.

In the end, DD went to nursery at 10 months so ended up drinking from a cup, and then I shut up boob shop at 13 months. Ironically, she is now fascinated by the bottles and wants her milk in one 'just like baby'.

DS does take a bottle and sod risking nipple confusion, I'm going to make sure he has one every day so he doesn't lose the knack!

Wish I had advice for you, I know a lot of parents who persevered and their LO ended up taking a bottle. But they will end up feeding less so you'll be able to do longer stretches away from them.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 28/11/2017 02:15

Lol sippy cup not silly cup!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 28/11/2017 02:17

Another baby wearing fan here! I absolutely love it. I live in Scotland where we get a baby box from the govt, and I was thrilled to see they'd included a wrap in it. Really good to promote baby wearing.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 28/11/2017 02:25

Not too bad a night here...so far. Got a 3.5 hour stretch. On first feed. Hopeful that mixture of saline drops and vapo are helping DS with his cold. Fingers crossed he will go down after this but have agreed with DH that I can get him at 4 if it's bad so am more relaxed.

GingerHanna · 28/11/2017 02:48

Ergh. So after feed I pumped and then went to go to sleep. As soon as I turned the lights off DS started screaming. Too frantic to get a decent latch so gave him a bottle of expressed milk. Burped him and he bought a load back up but still hunting for more food. Managed to put him back on a boob as I don’t want to give him more from the bottle in case he throws it up again. But I do want to sleep! Been up two hours now.

HashtagTired · 28/11/2017 02:51

We went to Bath (city) today and I wore ds is a connecta sling. It's great because trying to push ds around in a pram in Bath would be a nightmare.
We went to a cookie shop and bought a few home. How tempted am I right now to go downstairs scoff a few?

GingerHanna · 28/11/2017 02:51

PercyPigs so good that they include a wrap in the box!

HashtagTired · 28/11/2017 02:54

Oh no @GingerHanna that's so frustrating. I have ds asleep on me and I'm just waiting for him to go into one of those deep sleeps so I can put him down.

It takes me ages to get to sleep at the moment because I need my nostrils to unblock when I'm lying down and that always takes a while.

theotherendofthesockportal · 28/11/2017 03:13

@HashtagTired eat the cookies! You deserve them.

My attempt to introduce a routine has bitten me on the arse. DD went to sleep earlier but her usual 4.30 feed has moved forward to now.

At yesterday's 6 week check the GP said DD had a bit of reflux and recommended keeping her up right for 20 mins after feeding. Thank God for MN otherwise I would really be struggling to say awake.

My DH is next to me, snoring. I wish I was him.

Sakura03 · 28/11/2017 03:18

Feed #1 here, slept from 00.10-02.50. Nappy changed (screaming!!!) now clenching my finger while feeding its so cute😊
Slings, wraps... I’ve never really thought it might be something worth getting, I know people say babies can feed in them but I’ve got big boobs so not sure it’ll work but I like the idea that you can then get on with things as currently I’m just parked on the sofa more or less all day.

Jellybean2017 · 28/11/2017 03:19

DS has just done his first ever middle of the night monster poo 💩 hope this won't become a regular thing 🙈 16 week vaccinations today. I will need some nice food to get me through!

GingerHanna · 28/11/2017 03:40

So finally after 2.5 hours he appears to have gone down. Not fast asleep yet and EFLL is in full operation.

@Sakura03 I am a 34J and find the wraps just fine. (Was a 30G pre pregnancy!)

anotherexhaustedpigeon · 28/11/2017 03:50

Morning all (ugh) feed #2 here, but slept from 9.30pm - 1.30am. Really hoping to get a few more good hours. Another sling fan here - DD naps so well in them, I love that once she's in it we can just nip out to shops without faffing around with Pram etc, also can do a little workout with extra 5 kg weight - bonus!
