Hope everyone finds the new thread 😂 and new chatterboxes are welcome to join us and battle through the night feeds together (with or without the assistance of EBLL [Ewan's back left leg!) 🐏

@Jellybabie I don't really have time to express. When DD is not on me, I only gave time to cook something quick and make sure the house isn't a health hazard.
DD really needs to let me put her down more 😂 Reflux needs to be under control to do that, I think...

Another work colleague boasting (and lying?)! Her baby sleeps 10pm-10am and feeds 4 hourly (FF). So....only 4 feeds a day at 20 weeks? I don't have a clue about ff, but can a baby that take enough in 3 or 4 feeds? And not wake up for food in the night.
I think she has a potato baby if he sleeps for 12 hours.

AMagdalena · 23/11/2017 20:17

GingerHanna You can do it, girl! I'm with you. the only one with boobs and a bottle refuser in the house

Jellybean2017 · 23/11/2017 20:35

Good luck @Gingerhanna, I'm sure I will be here during the night for moral support.

Just got into bed with DS to start the night shift again! Only just finished dinner 🙈 baby is overtired having not napped since about 3. So I doubt tonight will go well 😭

Ok, I read up on FF. It is possible for baby to have 4 feeds and sleep 12 hours.
Bloody hell Shock
I'll carry on dreaming DD will sleep through one day!

Jellybean2017 · 23/11/2017 20:49

Blimey @AMagdalena! 12 hours would be incredible!

AMagdalena · 23/11/2017 21:01

I wouldn't know what to do with myself with a baby like that!

Jellybean2017 · 23/11/2017 21:03

Oh I would sleep, sleep, sleep 😂

I reckon I am not capable of pulling a 12-hr stretch anymore...Thanks, DD 😕

anotherexhaustedpigeon · 23/11/2017 21:11

Hi all, thanks for the warm welcome 😬 so not sure who here is EBF or FF, but I recently had to get lactation consultant out due to really poor weight gain (we are EBF) and she recommended a Haakaa pump (yes Amazon, I will accept vouchers for commission 😂) I am supposed to express enough for one bottle a day, which made me balk at first but I got this pump and it's a game changer! No wires to faff with, just wap it on your free boob and it catches all the letdown plus a bit more. Had a whole 4.5oz feed just from that today! Anyway, promo over just thought anyone who wants to express more/increase milk supply might appreciate it!

DH currently putting DD to sleep as he thinks he'll be getting lucky. It's been 'almost a whole week' apparently 🙄

Hope we are all going to get a decent stretch of sleep tonight, can anyone remember what it felt like to sleep more than 4 hours at a time. Now if I get 4 hours I literally feel groggy, like I overslept 😭

AMagdalena · 23/11/2017 21:30

Another Just looked up the pump; looks good! DH will be mad if I buy another one. Already shelled out £200 on Medela Swing 🙈

DD lasted 2 whole minutes in the cot. G😕A good start to a good night? 😂

Jellybean2017 · 23/11/2017 21:45

DH has already taken DS away in the sling. Means I can sleep, but he can't :( DS just won't stop screaming and arching his back. He is incredibly loud :(

Going to try and get some zzz's before he brings him back. Will no doubt be back in a few short hours!

AMagdalena I don't believe her 20 week old sleeps 12 hours off just 4 feeds 4 hours apart!

I keep hearing about this magic Haakaa pump and want to google it, I forked out for a swing though less than 2 years ago and our 20 week old won't even drink expressed milk from the bottle. I don't think I need another pump!! I live in hope he'll drink my milk from a bottle soon, I had a couple of things planned over Xmas I was hoping to go to child-free.

I don't want to sound like a smug bastard but I had 5 hours sleep last night, this is the longest he's ever gone!! He usually feeds every 3 hours sometimes more in the night. Only thing is I actually felt more tired today than I normally do, no idea how that works? Maybe my body remembered what sleep was Confused?!

GimbleInTheWabe · 23/11/2017 22:26

Yikes.. had a bit of a full on evening here. DS has been on and off my boob all night which is v out of character for him. He did a huge vomcano on me earlier as well and had just generally not seemed very settled but we’ve had a few smiles out of him. Think it could either be to do with him entering leap 2 (for those of you who use the wonder weeks) or that his BCG vaccine site has flared up. Either way I’m glad the HV is coming tomorrow.

Annoyingly I was at the drs for my 6w check up earlier but he was fine so didn’t get the ha e to ask her to look him over.

Anyway I shall be catching up on the thread in my next (probably imminent feed). Fx some of you get good sleeps tonight!

GimbleInTheWabe · 23/11/2017 22:32

In the meantime: here’s my gorgeous DS on his 6 week bday dressed in a costume my friend bought for him apologies for gushing. Grin

Halfdrankbrew · 23/11/2017 22:45

Gimble I love that outfit, what a cutey he is Smile.

GingerHanna · 23/11/2017 23:21

Sooooo... feed at 19:30 and then I GOT THREE HOURS SLEEP before DS started rousing for a midnight feast. That’s a new bloody record!

Just stuffed a formula/expresses milk mix down him to ease the feed for me. Hoping he will go back down okay?!?!

theotherendofthesockportal · 24/11/2017 00:04

@GimbleInTheWabe what a handsome chappy!

DD is playing up, I think she is exhausted from not sleeping virtually all day. She is alternating between drifting off and crying for food. I’m starting to feel a bit frazzled.

Now it is past midnight she is officially 6 weeks old although she was 5 weeks prem. I understand babies go through a developmental stage at 6 weeks, which would explain why she is behaving like this. Although I don’t know if the 6 weeks count due to her prematurity?

Meepmoop · 24/11/2017 00:14

Hi everyone,

It’s looking like no sleep for me tonight.

DS will not stay asleep in his cot, he falls asleep on me, so I put him in the cot and he stays asleep. I just fall asleep and he wakes up. I pick him up and he fallls asleep instantly and repeat.

This has been going on since 9pm!

I would be so grateful for an hour!

Halfdrankbrew · 24/11/2017 00:37

I've fed our little one on off all night, just sat here contemplating whether to try and get him down, he's literally just finished eating.

My husband went putting our nearly 2 yr old to bed over 2 hours ago (she's refusing to go to bed at the moment) and he never came back down, I assume he passed out too.

Just imagine what it must have been like doing this babies and feeding lark back in the day before phones and Internet. I wonder what they did to occupy themselves whilst pinned in under a baby?!

Halfdrankbrew · 24/11/2017 00:42

meepmoop hope you manage to get some sleep soon.

I think I have a window, although I often find myself just wanting half an hour "me time" rather than going straight to bed. I literally get no time alone at the moment with having a toddler, small baby and a husband working ridiculous hours.

AccrualIntentions · 24/11/2017 00:59

First feed of the night in, EBM. She just will not be winded afterwards though despite being full of air and breathing as though she really needs to burp or be sick. Hoping infacol might help eventually. I got a couple of hours sleep earlier so at least I feel awake enough to sit with her cuddled on my chest instead of trying to put her straight back in the crib.

Halfdrankbrew · 24/11/2017 01:10

What's EBM? I've not been on here that long so the abbreviations are often like guessing games...

AccrualIntentions · 24/11/2017 01:15

Expressed breast milk. Actually I'm not even sure if that's a mumsnet abbreviation or if it was a hospital one!

Sakura03 · 24/11/2017 01:34

First feed of the night after only 50 minutes sleep... he did really well last night sleeping over 7 hours in total. Today he was attached to me more during the day than evening so we shall see what the night brings..
Hv came today (yesterday) and ds has put on weight. He was 2805g at birth last Thursday he'd dropped down to 2500g and today he was 2900g. Hv said that they'd normally expect newborn to have reached their birth weight by 14 days and ds has gone past this at only 10 days so I'm really chuffed as I was really worried about his weight and the breastfeeding.
We later went for a walk to the butchers and got steak for dinnerSmile
@anotherexhaustedpigeon thanks for the tip on the pump, I was going to ask if anyone had any recommendations as I think it could be handy from time to time to be able to give him a bottle of expressed milk. Any other tips from anyone in terms of expressing?
My hv told me that they no longer recommend swaddling babies as if the get hit they can't move to regulate their body temperature but they told me the opposite in hospital and we've been swaddling him since day one. Thought I'd do as hv suggested when I put him down for the night but when I took him up for his feed his arms and chest felt cold... what do you guys do?

theotherendofthesockportal · 24/11/2017 01:45

This is descending into the night from hell. DD slept for 15 mins then woke screaming for food. I’m knackered and DH has an important day at work tomorrow.

@Sakura03 I swaddle DD, this what they showed me to do in the hospital.
