Hope everyone finds the new thread 😂 and new chatterboxes are welcome to join us and battle through the night feeds together (with or without the assistance of EBLL [Ewan's back left leg!) 🐏

ethelfleda I love those days! I remember when DD was only a few weeks old would not let me out her down in the pram without screaming the house down! Didn't have a sling back then, so getting ready to go out was stressful! And she was on the boob every half an hr!

NinaMarieP · 23/11/2017 14:00

I go to a rhyme time (2pm) and a Mum and baby group (11.30 am). Both are a twenty minute walk.

I wouldn’t try for anything that involved leaving the house before 11 unless I had another pair of hands.

Last night was another crap one. Tried putting him to bed earlier because he was knackered but he only slept an hour and then screamed to be fed again... did forty minutes on one boob then slept for about four hours but was extremely restless and needed his dummy every 30-40 minutes.

Next feed he did one boob and fell asleep again, slept beside me for 1.5 hours then woke for the other one...

Literally no idea what is going on with him at the moment but it’s exhausting.

NinaMarieP · 23/11/2017 14:01

Oh yeah and he soaked through his sleepsuit twice because I was so knackered I didn’t change his nappy at every feed.

Lallypopstick · 23/11/2017 14:24

Solidarity Nina we’re going through something similar though there’s been a marginal improvement in the last couple of days.

I came to rant about “drowsy but awake.” Is that a real thing for anyone???

Jellybean2017 · 23/11/2017 14:25

Drowsy but awake... Pah! Seems like the impossible dream for us!!

'Drowsy but awake'... Yeah, right 😂

mummarosie1 · 23/11/2017 15:47

I’m having a bad day. If she’s not in the sling snoozing she’s screaming the house down. 6 hours later and I’m tiring :(

Jellybabie3 · 23/11/2017 15:56

Right. I've gone back and forth but decided I am going to try getting DS up in the morn for this group. Its our first one so we should see how it goes. I have got us much as I can ready now. I just need to figure out when to wake him if required and get brave about my first public feed Hmm

Jellybabie3 · 23/11/2017 16:00

And I am still concerned about Ds soft spot. Its not deep but I can see the diamond shape on this head and feel a little valley shaped bit above his forehead before the large spot itself. Hes peeing fine. Pooed atleast 6 times already today (!) and feeding as normal. Hes giggly, playful and dribbly.

Maybe I am just paranoid now I have noticed it. Being a parent is alot of bloody worry Hmm

AMagdalena · 23/11/2017 16:05

Jellybabie I'd say he's fine if he's pooeing as much (and peeing). Is he alert? Is he not floppy? These are the things doctors look out for. My DD got dehydrated 4 days after she was born and the one reliable sign was urates in her pee. She was also sleeping all the time (things changed very quickly). Fontanelle seemed normal.

AMagdalena · 23/11/2017 16:05

But obviously, if he doesn't seem right to you, get him checked.

Jellybabie3 · 23/11/2017 16:11

Yeah hes alert but noticeably tired atm - taking frequent long naps. He slept for 6 hours straight last night. Hes seven weeks saturday so I assumed hes sleeping due to a growth spurt. His urine is yellowish but not bright - i know from a light stain in his nappy where it dries on the edge. Hes done alot of poos though! Last night after i worried about it, he had a massive feed and it seemed to pop back up abit. I've been feeding him all i can ie swapping boobs etc all day but still seems a little indented. Osteopath today said it could be the way his sutures are forming - he has a big head too which I guess makes it all more pronounced.

Jellybabie3 · 23/11/2017 16:23

It sinks when upright. Ok when horizontal

HashtagTired · 23/11/2017 16:29

I feel like something out of the walking dead 💤

Jellybean2017 · 23/11/2017 17:06

I have totally had enough of the screaming today. Nothing I do helps. I can't get him to nap. Just want to cry. My head hurts :(

@Jellybabie3 I would contact the health visitor with your concerns. They can reassure you :)

I have a child that refuses to sleep, she has been awake since 9.30 this morning and finally dropped of 15minutes ago. She has had one half hour cat nap in this time!

Jellybabie3 · 23/11/2017 18:10

Thanks all. Dh has come home and politely told me i am seeing things. So all in all i have had the most sleep and am being the most stupid yet hmmmm.

That said i will run it by the hv tomorrow Thanks @theotherendofthesockportal

My DS has also struggled to nap today as the doorbell has gone a billion times i will rip it off tomorrow and we had to go out Hmm we may all be having a blinder tonight - fx not though!!

NinaMarieP · 23/11/2017 18:16

We can do drowsy but awake sometimes, if there’s the dummy and white noise. But most naps are taken with someone holding him, or in a moving pram.

AMagdalena · 23/11/2017 18:20

Jellybean Hugs and cake to you Cake

Just had an ex work colleague say to me 'I don't know what I'd do if my baby didn't take thr bottle...My baby has a lot of expressed'. Well, you'd just breastfeed her, that's what you'd do!
Rant over (she's one of these people that need constant validation and praise)

Jellybabie3 · 23/11/2017 18:37

Sigh @AMagdalena

Incidentally three people told me this week I am making a rod for my own back by not using bottles for ds as it will be SO difficult to introduce them later on. I did express in and for a while after hosp as Ds lost weight. It was really time consuming and difficult for me at times. There will be times I need to I am aware of that but geez the advice from people that just know better (as opposed to trying to actually help) is frustrating. My rant over too!!

HashtagTired · 23/11/2017 19:05

I don’t even have the energy to rant. I’m so tired and so bunged up...

Jellybabie3 · 23/11/2017 19:32

Sad @HashtagTired i hope dh can hold onto your ds for you to get a good sleep in

HashtagTired · 23/11/2017 19:51

Here’s to a good night all round 🥂

GingerHanna · 23/11/2017 19:53

DH is sleeping in the spare room tonight as he has a job interview first thing tomorrow. So all the feeds by myself tonight... oh heck!

Wish me luck... 😭
