Hope everyone finds the new thread 😂 and new chatterboxes are welcome to join us and battle through the night feeds together (with or without the assistance of EBLL [Ewan's back left leg!) 🐏

Hi everyone - can I join you??
My DS was 3 weeks old Monday. Last couple of days he has been feeding every. Single. Hour. Seems to have calmed down again today and I'm still in that naive stage where I am optimistic for a good night!
DH stays up with him until about midnight and gives him a bottle of expressed milk and then brings him up to me for the witching hour shift. Last night's was especially cruel when he slept for a couple of hours but my brain wouldn't let me!! Haha!

HashtagTired · 22/11/2017 19:26

Welcome @ethelfleda
I could have written your post just now! Only my ds is 11weeks.
I’ve started to read a book during the feeds now at night. I’m finding my body is so used to being awake at stupid hours I’m wide awake. Reading helps me settle.

Good luck tonight everyone 🤞

Lovingtyrells · 22/11/2017 20:19

Managed to put my unputdownable DS down today for a daytime nap, when I try at night he is sick after 10mins, old curdled milk.

Lovingtyrells · 22/11/2017 20:20

@AMagdalena glad to see you are going to Paeds. I don’t know weather to try the meds’ again now baby is 12 weeks. Nothing helped from 6-8ish

AMagdalena · 22/11/2017 20:31

@Lovingtyrells Thanks.
DD also spits up curled milk all the time.

DD's reflux really gets me down sometimes as besides the sleeping issues, I feel like she can't be a 'normal' baby IYKWIM. Tummy time is an issue as she's likely to end up in a puddle of her own sick, she spits up on the play mat, the bouncer, projectile vomits when I burp her, refusal to feed... Also, dealing with so much vomit isn't pleasant either.
Anyway, I am hoping peads will get her on the right medication. Otherwise, weaning is likely to be a nightmare!
Ths GP actually said she'd have expected improvement not deterioration of symptoms at 16 weeks.

Jellybean2017 · 22/11/2017 20:38

Glad to hear you got a referral AMagdalena. Hope you get some answers.

Bedtime again here. DS has taken to pulling on and off the breast which is really bloody painful :( he has been screaming for hours on end and I'm exhausted. Fingers crossed for a better night.

@HashtagTired that picture really made me chuckle!!!

theotherendofthesockportal · 23/11/2017 00:36

Arrghhh DD is fighting sleep, every time I put her down she starts to cry. My husband, Dickhead Ford has suggested letting her cry herself to sleep. So now I’m full of rage and probably won’t sleep when DD relents and sleeps.

Jellybean2017 · 23/11/2017 00:59

First feed after a disastrous start. @theotherendofthesockportal my DH suggested the same! However, our DS wasn't being consoled, just screaming and screaming even when we cuddled him. Anyway, DH ended up getting him to sleep on the birthing ball and then we put him in bed with me and popped the boob in 🙈

Feed #2 here (first feed at midnight) so going 1.5 hours at the moment. I was resting, but not asleep and was able to see that he started himself awake. He drifted off again but startled again and so he was keen for a cuddle. I don’t think he’s waking for a feed each time but restless in his sleep. I am feeding him now though as hopefully that will help settle him.

sleepycat13 · 23/11/2017 01:47

first feed for me an hour or so earlier than usual. this does not bode well... ds greedily having his fill so hopefully will pass out again

Lovingtyrells · 23/11/2017 02:17

Feed three for me, couldn’t sleep between feed 2 and three arghhhh, More vom too.

ethelfleda · 23/11/2017 03:17

Feed #2 here and three hours since the last one. I actually slept for 2 whole hours and DS seems to be back to his calmer self. I am NOT going to slow him to lure me into a false sense of security Smile

Toonewtobehaving2 · 23/11/2017 03:23

Feed #1. Started at 0210 and still going as he just won't settle.
I went to bed at 1900 today while DH did the bottle of expressed and got him up to sleep. He's been bringing him up sound asleep the last week, but tonight he was wide awake when he brought him up at 2300 and I was so annoyed. I know it's not his fault, but it took nearly an hour to get him back to sleep, while the DH went off to the spare room for his 8 hours!!!

Jellybabie3 · 23/11/2017 03:31

Hi all. Feed #1 here. Ds has been asleep for 6 hours!! I have slept for four.
.ny earliee worry about his fontanelle jas2 eased as it seems better. I guess after he slept so much this morn it sank a little as he hadnt has his usual feed? I will keep am eye of course.

I'm now wondering if all this sleep is the reflux meds, the osteopathy or a fluke!! See how his windy bottom goes....

Jellybabie3 · 23/11/2017 03:32

Oh jesus the spelling mistakes....so hard feeding and typing isnt it???

Jellybean2017 · 23/11/2017 03:43

Haha it is tricky @jellybabie3

Feed 2 here. So not too bad if I can get him laying.back down after... DH into work later than usual today so he will be able to take him (once he's had his 8 hours 😉)

Feed #2 here. Ds not sleeping as sound as the other nights.
Today I ventured out with the pram for the first time. We went to a breastfeeding drop in. Walking there was fine but the walk back home was very slow as I felt a slight pulling sensation in my c-sec incision but nice to get out for a bit. Health Visitor is coming round tomorrow morning.

sleepycat13 · 23/11/2017 03:50

well done @Sakura03 for getting out today!!

feed 2 for me. only 1.5 hours after the last. groan

HashtagTired · 23/11/2017 03:55

Feed #3 here but I’m surprised it’s not more. He’s just so gooey and snotty I don’t know how he has slept at all!
He’s waking up coughing/choking like he’s going to be sick, so I’m rolling get him on his side in case he’s sick and he’s just going back to sleep bless him.

EBLL is powering through which is helping.
When he’s choking he wakes up with a scared look on his face and so this time I just picked him up. I’m snotty too.

So tonight has been
Midnight, 1:30 and 3:30.
I’m resting in between but not sleeping.

My dd class at school has the most horrific vomiting bug at the moment. Children have been projectile vomiting in the class room (imagine the scenes...) it’s only a matter of time before dd gets it. So I’m on vomit watch too. Every move I hear her make I think it’s her getting up to be sick. It’s so quiet where we live at night that I can hear everything.

HashtagTired · 23/11/2017 03:56

Dammit. He’s settled and I forgot to do the nappy change. If I don’t do it now he will wake up wet and be less settled in the morning. Sigh.

HashtagTired · 23/11/2017 04:08

Nappy changed.
I went for a wee and popped into dds room and had a good sniff of the air. No vomit yet and she’s sleeping soundly 👌
Ds, however, was struggling to breathe through the snot so I’m having cuddles with him now. He’s not going to sleep with that sludge rattling around :(

HashtagTired · 23/11/2017 04:11

I took the plunge yesterday afternoon too, and purchased some Bluetooth headphones 🎧. They will be arriving today so looking forward to that!

HashtagTired · 23/11/2017 04:12

🐑
EBLL has earned his keep tonight. Again! I never remember him being so effective with dd.

Jellybabie3 · 23/11/2017 04:13

Most unsuccessful nappy change ever lol. Took nappy off. Starting peeing, caught in clean nappy like a baseball mitt. Next nappy OK. Gave gripe. Pooed as I did up poppers. Took off, he peed and I caught in clean nappy (sound familiar??) Clean nappy now on.

Nappy bin is now full. Sod it. DH can do that. Ds is now wrestling the boob.
