Hope everyone finds the new thread 😂 and new chatterboxes are welcome to join us and battle through the night feeds together (with or without the assistance of EBLL [Ewan's back left leg!) 🐏

@Jellybean2017 mine is a grunting wriggler too. he slept quite well last night. only woke twice from 10 pm to 6 am for feeds but didn't stop making noises from 2 am onwards. so I have been awake since then. put him on my chest at 6am in the hope I might dose off for a bit and that helped but what is it? anyone found anything helps?

@GimbleInTheWabe I don't have any other children either so bed times for us tend to be from 10pm ish until whenever we both wake up. ds normally tends to get quite alert from about 7am when dh gets up but we often sit in bed feeding and chilling until at least 10am unless we have to be somewhere. that will have to change when I go back to work. but sod it for now!!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 22/11/2017 08:08

Welcome Lady of the Lake!

Gimble ha I need a wee right now but am stuck under a hungry baby. Desert thoughts FTW!

I also really want to get back into fitness. Loving the weight loss benefits of breastfeeding, but hate being so inactive. I've started to go for a short walk every day which is helping my mental state. The section has left me with a kind of over hang, it's not like I ever had a flat tummy to start with but it was never this...droopy. I'm really hoping that's temporary!

Not tooooo bad a night here. But 6am waking and I want more sleep! DS does not agree...

HashtagTired · 22/11/2017 08:23

@GimbleInTheWabe yes and no. I do a weekly outside postnatal fitness class with ds in the buggy. That’s great and I started that straight after my 6 week check. I love exercising outside, it’s great fun and it’s building my core. The trainer is keeping an eye on my abdominal muscle separation. Get your gp to check yours and limit ab work because it could do more damage than good.
I had a PT session at the gym in the weekend and she gave me a workout plan and I’m keen to get back into that.
Like you, I’ve lost weight but more of mine was in pregnancy. I had gestational diabetes and I lost just over a stone by cutting out refined sugar and reducing carbs. I want to cash in on that too. I reaction I have another stone to lose to be at the lightest I’ve been and optimal weight.

So I’m looking for some headphones 🎧 to help me on my journey!

HashtagTired · 22/11/2017 08:24

Also I get up each day around 7:15 on a weekday to get dd ready for school. And about 8:30 on a weekend.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 22/11/2017 09:57

Is it sad that the highlight of my day will be a trip to Asda and Costa Coffee??

HashtagTired · 22/11/2017 10:08

I’d say that’s a pretty exciting day @WhoAteAllthePercyPigs

Mine is baby massage but I really can’t be bothered to go. We had a terrible night last night. He was just sooooooo fidgety and needed a lot of comfort so that meant I got very little no sleep.

Currently watching miracle on 34th street though, whilst rearranging my frames on the wall. Want to make a random gallery effect and it’s harder than it seems!

AMagdalena · 22/11/2017 11:03

So we've been reffered to see a peadiatrician. Don't expect to see one until the new year, but it's a start. The GP I saw told me not to stop diary as it might not be CMPA at all, could just ne reflux or side effects of medication.
Feels like we're gettig somewhere at least.
DD didn't do too bad at night either, but I was restless.

Jellybean2017 · 22/11/2017 11:20

@sleepycat13 I haven't found anything to stop him grunting like a farmyard animal as yet 🐖

@gimble we don't get up til 10ish. But only one dc so I can't imagine ever having another baby at this point.

DS fell asleep in the sling while I hoovered cat hair off his pram (pesky cats get in all his stuff!) does anyone else have success with white noise? I tried it before but Ewan (left leg or otherwise) didn't seem to cut it for us. Think we need something louder. I'm getting frustrated that he won't just nap in his chair or cot. Feel I'm constantly trapped under baby either feeding or getting him asleep. Feeling like I must be doing something wrong!

We also get up around 10am, DD is my only child (the thought of pregnancy, birth and the early weeks makes me want to run shrieking into the sunset). I was concert that I was being lazy sleeping in until this time until my friend pointed out we don’t have any where to be and I need a rest.

I will get up earlier in the new year once we start some baby groups.

NinaMarieP · 22/11/2017 11:40

@GimbleInTheWabe we are up between 8 and 10 depending on what time he feeds and whether or not he falls asleep (or can persuaded to sleep) afterwards.

Toonewtobehaving2 · 22/11/2017 11:45

I get up at 7am with DD. But DS often (about 5 times! 😂) sleeps longer then that, so I have to reluctantly leave my bed and him and start the day with her. It's hard,
Especially if we've had a particularly sleepless night. But with an almost two year old I have no choice.

DS is also a member of the grunty farm yard clan! Spends all night snuggling and grunting. Much worse at the moment as he has a cold.

Halfdrankbrew · 22/11/2017 11:51

Jellybean our daughter (who was a nightmare sleeper) used to love the hairdryer as white noise. We have a Sonos sound system with napster hooked up so I used to put hairdryer noises on it 😆. Ewan never worked until she was about 8 months old (so don't get rid of him) she's nearly 2 and still uses ewan every night to get to sleep.

I remember one day she had a morning of just screaming, they were digging up the road in front of our house with pneumatic drills, worked a treat. I wanted to ask them to carry on when they were done! I did try the pneumatic sound effect on the sonos but i wasn't a fan at 3am Grin. I'm sure you could download sounds onto your phone, hairdryer you can zone out I found.

NinaMarieP · 22/11/2017 11:52

This is why I’m never having another baby, ever.

In the paraphrased words of Sir Steve Redgrave “anybody who sees me going near having another baby has my permission to shoot me.”

Halfdrankbrew · 22/11/2017 11:56

Nina, I said the same shortly after our daughter was born, the midwife laughed. I was back almost 18months to the day having the next one Grin.

AMagdalena · 22/11/2017 12:03

Jellybean We get nowhere with white noise. It annoys DD in the end. No fooling that kid.
I am getting frustrated with being trapped under a baby, too. Think it's down to reflux., although she does manage a few hours in the oct at night, unless she vomits...

NinaMarieP · 22/11/2017 12:10

Ahh but mine is a carefully considered decision after almost 16 weeks of parenting @Halfdrankbrew.

Totally different from when I said it right after he was born.

Halfdrankbrew · 22/11/2017 12:18

Anyone struggling with an unsettled newborn, are they gaining weight ok? Our daughter was very unsettled and we really struggled. She wasn't gaining weight and was tiny, I carried on breast feeding her as no one ever suggested otherwise, I was so dead set on breast feeding. It was only looking back now we've had another baby (who is settled and double her size) I realise she was actually starving! I feel awful now I look back. Our daughter had a tongue tie I never had corrected too and now I realise she wasn't getting enough, I should have been topping her up with formula. I'm sure it's other things causing your babies to be unsettled but it's just a thought.

Halfdrankbrew · 22/11/2017 12:21

Nina 16 weeks in is still quite "fresh" there's time yet Wink!

AMagdalena · 22/11/2017 12:32

Halfdrankbrew My DD was veeery unsettled until about 8 weeks. Unputdownable. Fed constantly. Dropped from 91st to 50th centile in the first 4 days as my milk was late coming in and she couldn't latch on. Happy as Larry now ;) She still has problems with reflux and constipation, but other than that, she's very smiley now.
Gone up above 50th centile despite constant puking.
Have you heard of 4th trimester? Maybe your LO just wants you all the time and is finding the transition harder than other babies.

yolkybokey · 22/11/2017 14:08

Currently stuck underneath DS, he had his booster shot this morning and has cried himself to sleep, poor lamb.

Now I can’t do anything expect watch Netflix, not terrible but I could really do with some lunch...

AMagdalena · 22/11/2017 15:41

Stuck under DD! I daren't put her down

Jellybabie3 · 22/11/2017 16:44

We made it out in the car today Smile drove to Starbucks and did some light shopping. Feels so good and normal. Ds was pretty good only crying for a pooey bum.

Didnt have to feed as we got back in a few hours. Still abit nervous!!

Tad worried about DS. Hes sooooo sleepy atm. Albeit still only sleeping on us. Hes falling asleep during feeds alot and now I'm worried his fontenelle has sunk abit. trying to poke him awake during feeds today. He's six weeks old so may be sleepy due to growth spurt

AMagdalena · 22/11/2017 18:01

Jellybabie if he's wetting nappies, he's probably okm

HashtagTired · 22/11/2017 19:07

@Jellybabie3 any doubts get him checked by GP. I’m sure he’s fine though.

HashtagTired · 22/11/2017 19:08

I saw this on another MN thread here last night and saved it for you guys. It did make me chuckle a little at its randomness!
