@Lovingtyrells I’m planning to start a diet, DD will be 5 weeks on Friday although her due date is tomorrow. I’ve banned chocolate from the house but not sure how to go about healthy snacks.

I was about 2 and a half stone over weight prior to pregnancy, so I determined to get a lot thinner, but in a healthy more maintainable way.

I’ve escaped to the hairdressers today, my sister is babysitting. It’s bliss having an adult conversation in the outside world.

I’m now thinking I need to buy a slow cooker after seeing the chat on here. Do you have to brown off meat before it goes in the slow cooker?

Jellybean2017 · 15/11/2017 12:54

You don't have to but some things I think are better if you do. Like mince for example. I have this www.argos.co.uk/product/9061600?storeID=102&cmpid=GS001&_$ja=tsid:59157|cid:337401273|agid:26938256793|tid:aud-144400486596:pla-186608874273|crid:84385958673|nw:g|rnd:3160866184898072752|dvc:m|adp:1o1|mt:|loc:1006589&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3Nf5zs_A1wIVwRbTCh2woQMKEAQYASABEgJxtvD_BwE

It is hob proof 😊 and lovely and light so easy to clean too

theotherendofthesockportal · 15/11/2017 13:02

@Jellybean2017 - thank you :)

Toonewtobehaving2 · 15/11/2017 14:02

I got him to sleep!!! In the day. Without the DH and not sleeping on me. He's in his Moses basket and has been there since 1210!! I feel amazing. Haha. I'm having a cup of tea.
I know it was easier because DD is at nursery, but I'm at least filled with a little hope that if I can keep her entertained for a while (even if it means the iPad or TV) I can sit quietly in the 'man cav - which is now baby day sleep room 😂) I might be able to crack this!
I'm not going to worry about the fact that he isn't upstairs in his room sleeping and just take this momentous event for what it is. MY first time at getting him to sleep in the day not on me! Hurrah!!!!!!

I'm totally feeling for all you mummies with them asleep on you, that's usually me. If I was there I'd bring the tea and cake round to you. Xx (or fruit for those already started on the diet)

Jellybean2017 · 15/11/2017 14:05

Well done Toonew. I'm bouncing baby in his chair with my foot while I shovel soup and bread in my mouth as quick as I can hahaha! He is such a sleep dodger. He dropped off in the pram for first time ever yesterday and I ended up going for a 40 minute walk in the dark to keep it going!

Jellybean2017 · 15/11/2017 14:24

It's only bloody worked!! And I'm nowhere near a bed or sofa 🙈 may take a nap on kitchen floor. Although scared to stop bouncing 🙈

AMagdalena · 15/11/2017 14:32

Jelly I have used the bouncy chair once or twice, but my DD only takes 33 min naps, so seems like a lot of effort for that

Just been for a walk with DD. Asleep for 33 mins bang on Grin

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 15/11/2017 14:38

Top work toonew! IT's the best feeling isn't it? Long may it last...

Well, I bit the bullet and weighed myself. Actually not as bad as I was expecting (god bless breastfeeding), but I'd like to lose another half stone before the excess of Christmas. Because I'm largely house bound (although starting to go for gentle walks) I'm not getting any exercise so I need to watch what I eat. But it's so hard when you're so tired and need to keep going...Right now I'm sitting here craving that salted caramel cake Grin

Jellybean2017 · 15/11/2017 14:40

Haha 33 minutes is very precise! 😂 he has been asleep for 33 minutes. I wouldnt mind if I was on the sofa with a cuppa and the TV on... Will make sure I am in a better position if I try it again later!

I'm trying to just start getting him to sleep after he has been awake for an hour or so throughout the day. Hoping this will prevent overtiredness! Ooo he is stirring, better concentrate on bouncing!

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 14:41

Well done toonew. Remind me how old you LO is (whilst prays its much older than DS who wont sleep longer than 30min....)

AMagdalena · 15/11/2017 14:49

Jelly next time make sure you're comfy with a cuppa, then! Smile
And fingers crossed more naps means more nighttime sleep for you :)

HashtagTired · 15/11/2017 15:12

Well done toonew!
I’ve been chair bound most of the day. When he has woken I’ve tried to play with him and interact. I even did some baby massage and now he’s asleep on me again. Need to put him in the sling now though. Tune to get dd from school and then chaos begins 😬

OP posts:
Toonewtobehaving2 · 15/11/2017 15:18

Thanks ladies. He woke at 1445, so almost three hours!!! He's back on the boob now though. I'm hoping it's not a long one as he's going to have a melt down if I take him off early, but we have to leave at 1545 to go get DD!
@jellybabie3 he was 4 weeks yesterday. But he's always slept fairly long stints in the day when DH has managed to get him down. He's completely back to front. Doesn't usually like to sleep at night! Although that is getting better now. A bit.

AMagdalena · 15/11/2017 15:38

Toonew This is the holy grail I and many others have yet to achieve! Well done.
Looks at DD and mutters 'you have until 6 months old and we're so getting you to fall asleep in the cot'

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 16:42

My boy has slept for about 20mins all day.

I'm going to assume I will be leading this thread tonight....

Shuffles off with tired feet to find food for energy.....

Toonewtobehaving2 · 15/11/2017 16:52

I imagine as it's my first night alone with both of them I'm highly likely to be up all night too! No DH doing a bottle and then having him for few hours tonight!
Plus I'm assuming DS is basically going to cry through all of DD's bedtime routine. So I'm worried she won't go down too well either. I'm opting for the 'swing on the landing' approach. Have your fingers crossed for me and I'll see you all on the other side! X.

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 16:58

Goodluck toonew x

theotherendofthesockportal · 15/11/2017 17:51

Today I escaped to the hairdressers whilst my sister looked after DD. DD slept solidly for 5 hours! It is only when I’m here that she wakes every 3-4 hours - what am I doing wrong?

AMagdalena · 15/11/2017 18:04

theotherend Your DD shows signs of being a unicorn baby! My DD has never done 5 hrs during the day!

Jellie you might be leading the thread tonight, but I shall join you. DD has been super hyper and a real pain to get to nap... I think DH has this effect on her. I must be really boring

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 18:17

Know what you mean. I spend all day with ds and daddy comes home and hes good as gold so wondering what all the fuss is about....Angry he sleeps through him which is good....for him lol

HashtagTired · 15/11/2017 18:26

I think a few of us will be here again tonight.
Ds hasn’t had much quality sleep today, just really short stints on me. He’s really wriggly too, so waking up easily. Sigh.

Shower calls. Need to top up my basket on my bed with muslins, squash and nappies etc.
Can’t remember who it was who takes a cheese string to bed every night. That made me lol when I pinched one out the fridge today.

Here’s to a good night all round, and especially to you, toonew, fingers crossed for you.

OP posts:
NinaMarieP · 15/11/2017 18:31

I’m the cheese string eater 😂

My guilty middle of the night pleasure.

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 18:40

I havent had a cheese string in years....

I only have cereal bars and capri sun.

I'm going shopping tomorrow.

mummmyj · 15/11/2017 18:54

Hi guys and girls SmileSmile just wondering whether it would be ok to join??

My DD is 14 days tomorrow and an absolute babe, finds it hard to settle at the moment as has poo congestion 😲😲😲😲 and this includes at night!

But think will take the suggestion of a duvet day as very much fancy one, why is it once you have baby your house becomes the local cafe for everyone and that includes left washing up etc to do 😂 x

Jellybean2017 · 15/11/2017 18:56

I will definitely be here tonight. No further naps since 2 🙈 I may need a cheese string haha
