Thanks @whoatealllthepercypigs xx
We are doing ok. I've managed to get us all up and dressed. DD has had breakfast and DS actually fell asleep in his baby chair for 30 mins. Today I saw actually a day that's dD goes to nursery so I'm just getting everyone ready for that! DS is seriously over due a proper nap though.

When does your DH go back?

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 15/11/2017 09:24

Getting everyone up and fed is a huge step so well done you! DH back early December. But only for two weeks and then off for Christmas. Because of my section and not being able to drive, my parents are going to come and help (they live a few hours away but are retired). Very grateful for that. Going to be a big adjustment for DD as she adores her daddy and they've been spending a lot of time together. So I think she will play up quite a bit.

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 09:40

hashtag i cooked these while on mat leave and can say they are all delicious. Can batch cook and freeze so athough you put some effort in your sorted for a while. Portions are generous too.

www.mumsnet.com/family-food/batch-cooking-recipes

Still living off them.....I made 40 meals.....ds was 2 weeks overdue!! In hindsight shouldve slept and done cmas shopping....

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 09:42

Also batch cook recipes off bbc good food recipe website. Sausage and bean hotpot mmmmmm. Meatballs mmmmmm.

Hungry now

HashtagTired · 15/11/2017 09:46

Thanks for the food recommendations. I need to sit down and really think about the plan and write it down so that I order the right stuff from Sainsbury’s, and have a plan to work to. Otherwise I’ll forget!
Lazy sort of day today. Dd now at school, and ds and I are meant to be going to baby massage later today but I am quite tempted to miss it. I have a busy Thursday and Friday planned so a lazy day with cuddles on the sofa sounds just what I fancy 👌

@Hashtag I use a slow cooker which is good for making big batches. You can just chuck everything in and leave it!

I'm tempted to just stay in bed all day. Absolutely shattered!!

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 10:16

Sounds lovely hashtag wish i had stayed in bed... Although i am nesting in the couch!!! So sleepy today......

Slow cooker is great idea

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 15/11/2017 10:16

One thing about DS arriving early meant my plans to batch cook went right out the window! I was looking forward to it too!

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 10:22

I enjoyed it. But i so shouldve slept too....i was so cross ds was late (stupid i know) and then had 3 day labour ending in emcs and best part if week in hosp. Hind sight.....wonderful. I'd trade 3x sausage hotpots for an afternoon nap now 😂

Toonewtobehaving2 · 15/11/2017 10:30

I had a C-sec too, it's a pain isn't it @whoateallthepercypigs? Did you find that your recovery was a lot easier second time around though? All the 'don't pick up your DD' went straight out the window for me. I was pretty much picking her up from the moment I got home from hospital. The adjustment of having DS in the house as well as me not playing with her and picking her up was too much. She is really going to miss DH too. He's been really good with her and she loves her daddy time. It's hard on your own with too. But I'm hoping once DS gets a better sleep pattern I'll be ok. It's bedtimes I'm most not looking forward to. DH does 5 on 5 off, so 50% of the time I'll be soul parent for all of awake time as he works 12hrs. I can do this though....... right?

I must admit, slough I was worried about DS sleeping too long last night I feel bloody amazing for it!!!

Toonewtobehaving2 · 15/11/2017 10:31

Ohhhhh might have to dig my slow cooker out the cupboard!

Lovingtyrells · 15/11/2017 10:39

My DH works a lot so basically been lone parent since he finished paternity and I now get annoyed if he tries to get involved, as I know all the signs etc. That’s bad right :o

Lovingtyrells · 15/11/2017 10:39

Has anyone started a diet yet ? I really need to but the desserts help with the difficult baby !!

sleepycat13 · 15/11/2017 10:40

slow cookers are the way forward. I am now coming to the end of my batch cooking supplies and am devastated!!!
but the slow cooker came out and I bought a load of pre chopped veg and meat. lazy I know and not very economical but I will happily pay for the ease right now. think we will be living off casseroles and pasta from now on.

sleepycat13 · 15/11/2017 10:43

@Lovingtyrells I rejoined slimming world 2 weeks ago (at 4 weeks post birth) I'm really struggling to follow the plan right now. haven't had much time to prepare healthy snacks and I'm still in treat/convienence mode but it's been nice to go to get out of the house and go to group and I figured even if I half stuck to it that was better than not at all.

Toonewtobehaving2 · 15/11/2017 11:09

@lovingtyrells - I've 'thought about it' - DS is 4 weeks and I'm not entirely sure how to diet whilst EBF, but I'm thinking of just cutting out all sugAry stuff and watching my carbs?

I'm currently sat on the sofa with a squirming DS. I know he's tired as he's only had two cat naps since 0610 when he woke up! He's resisting though and only wanted to feed for just over 5 mins!

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 11:10

Havent started a diet here yet. We were 'unlucky' to have no trick or treaters......pointless trying yet.

Do any of you have good recipes for the slow cooker?

I also know what you mean Re: dh being home. I have some sort of routine and find ds tends to play up on nights dh is home because it goes out of whack alot and he gets overtired. Its a tricky one as it does help him being home around the house!!

AMagdalena · 15/11/2017 11:24

I cook meals for 2 days in a row or fairly simple ones, e.g. Hungarian goulash will last 3 days in the fridge, lecso (I am not Hungarian, btw), chilli con carne, sauce for Spag Bol for 2 days and just add pasta in, roast chicken thighs. The list goes on.

I have naively tried to settle DD in the cot for a nap and she basically just gave me a look that said 'you must be having a laugh'.

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 11:37

Hahaha Magdalena i know that look...

AMagdalena · 15/11/2017 11:48

Yup. Now she's asleep on me, obviously.

I don't understand why can self-settle at 9am, but not at any other time...
Oh, well... One day, one day.

Lallypopstick · 15/11/2017 11:52

I just eat a lot of cake. It’s great!

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 11:57

Totally agree. Ds writhing about with wind all night. Woke me almost every hour since 1am. Gave up and got up and now hes asleep on me. Like hell am i moving. Not having another overtired night. Sleep baby sleep.

Jellybean2017 · 15/11/2017 11:57

I eat mostly cake too @lallypopstick. 😂 probably won't bother diet until have Christmas now. Plus I burn off millions of calories a day trying to get DS to go to sleep!

I tend to do casseroles, chili, bolognese, curry etc in slow cooker. I also buy frozen chopped onions, peppers, grated carrot, frozen garlic etc. So lazy but saves time. Need to remember to buy the real thing when DS is older. Otherwise he will think all those things just come in bags 😂

AMagdalena · 15/11/2017 12:04

I LOVE cake.
Salted caramel cake is my favourite these days

HashtagTired · 15/11/2017 12:29

I was a stone lighter than my pre pregnancy weight so I was back in my old clothes within a couple of weeks after birth. I want to keep the weight off so have started a mummy’s and buggies post natal fitness class weekly. I am going swimming when I can, which isn’t often at all. So far I have only managed a couple of times in as many weeks! Any time I get to spend time on my own I want to use it to sleep!
I’m trying to eat more veggies and eat cleaner... but I’m not going to lie, I’m sat here eating and ham and coleslaw sandwich (well I would be if i could reach it, ds is feeding) and drinking a Frijj (albeit NAS). I love my carbs and sugar!
