@theotherendofthesockportal we have just hit the 6 week mark and dare I say it things have felt slightly easier the last few days....
however we have also had no nap since 4pm today and ds is showing the tell tell signs of being over tired.

Ven83 · 12/11/2017 23:01

@sleepycat13 Same here, we’re just over 6 weeks and it feels a tiny bit easier, but I’m not sure if for real or I was just really good at convincing myself, as everyone told me it was going to get easier around this time. As long as it works!

But DS has reflux and can’t sleep lying down for more than half an hour without waking up in tears, and then it’s a nightmare to settle him again. Tilted cot doesn’t help eitherSad
But if he sleeps on my or DH’s chest he can go for hours...

Jellybabie3 · 12/11/2017 23:04

Oh god i hope you lot are right. We are at 5 weeks and 1 day. Pray the worst is nearly over....

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 12/11/2017 23:35

He's 9 days old, so still very early days! Due date would have been 28th November. Yes hopeful of a change post 6 weeks...

First feed of the night. Was summoned from a lovely deep sleep so all feels a bit surreal...

HashtagTired · 13/11/2017 01:14

@theotherendofthesockportal for some reason I’d missed your post about the fire. Sounds like s nightmare. Good job you’re ok though, apart from the damage to your scar, hope it isn’t too bad now 😬

I’m awake because dh has delivered ds to me but he’s still asleep. He’ll want feeding soon so I’ll stay up and wait. I find it torture drifting off then being woken up in the verge of sleep. I’d rather stay awake.

I have such a sore throat.

I had to take dd5 to s birthday party today and dd slept through most of it. He had a good nap between 5 and 6. Dd loves to play boats with him. Lying him on the changing mat on the carpet and (gently) pushing around on the floor in the lounge. We watch her like a hawk, but ds seems to enjoy it! She’s good as good with her baby bro. Really mother’s him and it’s lovely to watch.

Those if you struggling a little with fussy little ones, take a look at the wonder weeks. It’s a book but they’ve also developed an app. It’s based on research that when babies go through growth spurts or internal d development stages it affects their behaviour. The mental age is based on their due date not birth date. There’s some free info on the website to read.

So many tiny babies about!

DS is nearly one week seems to need to suck ALL the time and we are still working on the latch. Nipple shields something of a live saver...

Ohb0llocks · 13/11/2017 02:15

Feeding time at the zoo!

Can’t complain, he’s cute. And he’s been asleep downstairs with DP since 9:30.

Lovingtyrells · 13/11/2017 02:34

Changing nappy in the middle of the night getting back to bed and then having a poo explosion straight away ....

Jellybean2017 · 13/11/2017 02:37

We are up feeding too! I have had to sit up with DS laid asleep across me so far tonight. I'm definitely getting a bad back 😔

LovingTyrells that does not sound fun 💩

AMagdalena · 13/11/2017 02:38

We've been up evefy 2 hours Hmm
DD is not liking the cot either.

theotherendofthesockportal · 13/11/2017 02:44

So here I am again! DD went to sleep at 11pm and now wants feeding again, now I smell poo.

HashtagTired · 13/11/2017 02:48

So we both drifted off. He seems to have skipped his midnight snack. I’ll have to find out from dh when his evening feed was because this would not all be feed number 2 for me but it’s number 1. I actually woke up and checked he was still breathing, it’s so odd for him to go this long at night time.

Anyway, here we are.

Second feed! @efferlunt feel your pain about the newborn feeding. Latch still a bit of a struggle too, I think baby has eaten my nipped. Plus I have a blocked milk duct s ouch. Forgotten the joys of getting starts with breastfeeding!

I'm soooooo very tired.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 13/11/2017 03:00

*nipples. Tired typing...

theotherendofthesockportal · 13/11/2017 03:01

Now DD has the hiccups, we will be here a while. How do you get rid of the hiccups?

HashtagTired · 13/11/2017 03:02

Urgh. My left boob has leaked.

OP posts:
HashtagTired · 13/11/2017 03:03

@theotherendofthesockportal I’ve done it before my feeding a bit more.

OP posts:
WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 13/11/2017 03:03

Would like to know the answer to that! DS is such a hiccuper, both in and out of the womb.

theotherendofthesockportal · 13/11/2017 03:07

DD has always had the hiccups, she also had them in the womb. As her head was right under my ribs I always felt them!

Jellybabie3 · 13/11/2017 03:51

Hi all i am on feed number 1. Or is it two. Took FOREVER to get ds to sleep as he was overtired. Lesson learned. Again. Another moan at dh Hmm. Ds gets hiccups all the time too..and HATES them

Hope every one is OK

Jellybabie3 · 13/11/2017 03:51

I also fees through hiccups. Seems to distract ds if nothing else

SaneAsABoxOfFrogs · 13/11/2017 03:53

How long counts as newborn that you can join this thread for a moan? With DS1 I found things got a bit easier after about 6 weeks, but DS2 is nearly three months old and night times in particular are just awful! I feel I've lost all sanity. Reflux means he only really sleeps when held, and for the last week he's had a horrible cold which has left him so mucousy he projectile vomits everywhere so don't even feel I can leave the house, and now have no clean bedding or towels. Aaaaargh!

Ceesadoo · 13/11/2017 04:15

BoxofFrogs I feel for you. Sorry you are having a difficult time. I am too. My son is 11 weeks and at the moment is not going longer than an hour between wakes at night after his initial 2/3 hour sleep.

Colds must be a bloody nightmare to deal with in babies. You must be exhausted.
