I can't find my thread from a couple of weeks ago, but need some support tonight. You were all amazing before.

We went on holiday last week and I napped as much as possible so I'd be up for sleep training in earnest when we got back. Well tonight is the night. He had milk in a bottle downstairs before his bath, which I'll be phasing out after a week in favour of a bit of milk in a cup, or none at all. He's been screaming like a banshee for an hour now and has been sick twice. I was timing him and going in to resettle at intervals of 3 minutes, 5, 8, then going back to the beginning, but after the second vom bomb I'm sitting in his room while he screeches at me.

I will not give in. He will not have milk. He will sleep.

Feeling much less suicidal now than I was, but we'll see how I feel after a whole night of this.

He woke up so I resettled him quietly and sat in the chair in his room for a few minutes until he went back to sleep. Can't help but feel I'm setting myself up for further disaster by staying in the room, but I'll deal with that once the need for milk is abolished.

Two hours now. He is desperately tired (as am I) but just resisting as hard as he can. He's currently sitting quietly in his cot with a book. DH should be taking over for the next hour now but I don't want to rock the boat and get DS worked up again thinking Daddy will do as he asks (he won't).

Thanks for the good luck. Excuse my ramblings to myself, it's keeping me sane, and awake.

Bless him. It won't take long for him to realise he won't be getting milk, just a night or two. I would try to keep him awake as much as possible tomorrow (today?) So he is definitely tired tomorrow night

Yes to keeping him up tomorrow. He shan't be getting milk to nap, so that shouldn't be too tricky.

Oh god, you poor thing! I have zero experience of sleep training but everything I've read says it works within three or four nights. Good luck and I hope your day tomorrow isn't too demanding!

I'm sitting on the noisiest chair on the squeakiest floorboards and he turns over and stares at me whenever I try to get up.

I've come round to the idea of the pregnancy and if anything, it's made me more determined to sort DS out, because I'm so fucking tired.

Bless you. Sleep training was the hardest thing I ever did and I didn't have things half as bad as it sounds for you.

Good luck - I had to make my youngest go cold turkey on her 4-5 night feeds (aged 14 months) when I fell asleep driving to work. Luckily nothing happened but we went cold turkey that night. We had 3 hellish nights, and she's slept through almost every night since except if she's not well.

Here we go, night two of no milk and staying in the cot all night.

He didn't nap today (just ten minutes in the car at lunch time) so he is shattered and has eaten really well all day, so I'm hoping for good things. He had his bottle downstairs before his bath, just like last night.

Fingers crossed.

Thank you! I am actually very proud of myself for not giving in last night.

I've been sat in his bedroom for, what, ten minutes? He threw all his toys out of the cot and then laid down and went to sleep.
