Amazing Sweary! I think that I might need a pair of those!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/02/2016 08:40

We are off later!!

Spring snow conditions in Whistler this last week, but colder again now, and yes, have been checking webcams like a soul obsessed.

Now I need to go and see which thermals have been left for me!

trixymalixy · 12/02/2016 12:13

Much, I have these straps on my gloves and I also wear liner gloves that have a touch screen bit on them.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 13/02/2016 20:01

Gloves, poles, phone...... So much is at risk if I so much as move a muscle on a chairlift! But the photos are cool so I might have to plan in advance when the conditions look right and give it a go!

Who knows when though. Nothing else planned for this season Sad

allegretto · 13/02/2016 20:07

Hello. I am not skiing but I am sending my DS (11) off skiing with some friends Hope he'll be alright - I'll be a nervous wreck!

trixymalixy · 14/02/2016 09:42

Much, I also attach a lanyard to my phone for a bit of extra security when getting it out on a chairlift.

puffylovett · 14/02/2016 16:37

Well we are here in Puy st Vincent, the snow is AMAZING the resort is lovely, my boys are like ballistic missiles and I have blown my knee on the 2nd run of the 1st day. Absolutely gutted is not the word, we've been waiting for this holiday for years. Ladies I'd caution you all to wear knee braces as a precaution :(

I'm Sat icing it debating wether to trek to briancon, as the wait for the medic here is 16 hours, it's so busy :(

User543212345 · 14/02/2016 17:08

Oh puffy you poor sausage! Keep up the icing for this evening and take anti-inflammatories and assess in the morning maybe? Do you have any tape/can you send anyone out for some and strap yourself up for the rest of the week or is it properly spannered? I'm always covered in magic blue tape when I ski.

Having broken my foot a few years ago on day 3 I really feel your pain. Wine Chocolate Cake and repeat.

puffylovett · 14/02/2016 20:05

Will do.. I'm currently being waited on hand and foot by dp, what a lovely valentines gift Grin
I suspect that's my holiday over - I heard something pop when I went down :( I can just weight bare but it feels really unstable. I have a brace, and having managed to ski in a sort of bum out one legged peculiar snowplough down a blue run to get to the lift, I could probably just about drag myself out again, but I dotn want to do any more damage.., will play it by ear :(

Sorry to put a downer on a happy thread! Hope everybody else has an amazing time! Off for a teeny glass of vino

Muchtoomuchtodo · 14/02/2016 20:16

Oh puffy. Ice and elevation with a glass or two of Wine sounds good for tonight but it sounds as if you need it checking out to make sure that you don't do any more damage.

Let us know how you get on xx

trixymalixy · 14/02/2016 20:39

Oh puffy, what a shame! I hope your knee isn't as bad as you fear and you manage to ski for more of your holiday.

Our week in Morillon was very mixed. It poured with rain the first couple of days then had one sunny morning and snowed for the rest of the holiday so the conditions on the last day were lovely.

The lift queues on some days were hideous and buying area lift passes was a waste of money as due to the high winds and the shitty slow 3 man chairlift that's the main link to the rest of the area we didn't manage to get up into samoens or flaine.

It was 11.30 before we got up to the top one day and with ski school finishing at 12, we had to ski straight back down rather than try the red runs into samoens. Very frustrating.

Then in our 2nd last run of the holiday the beginner adult in our party broke his shoulder!

Despite all that we did have a lovely time and have reserved the same accommodation for next year, just not in the French school holidays!

puffylovett · 14/02/2016 21:02

Oh trixy what a sham! I was wondering how you were getting on. I wasn't sure where morillon was in relation to puy where we are. Are you Home now?

trixymalixy · 14/02/2016 21:14

Puy is much further south iirc. We were in Puy last year and absolutely loved it. I like their Facebook page and have been envious of the pictures of the conditions there as the snow looks amazing!

We still got some great skiing in at Morillon despite the weather and the lift queues.

I really hope you manage to get more skiing in. We look forward to our ski holiday all year and it's always my fear that something happens to stop us skiing. I hid DS's skateboard for the week before our holiday Grin.

trixymalixy · 14/02/2016 21:15

Yes we're home now. Back to work tomorrow, boo.

clam · 16/02/2016 08:34

We're in Vars, and there was a massive dump of snow on Friday/Saturday which we're reaping the benefits of now. Conditions are perfect. Glorious sunshine yesterday and freckles are now showing for all.

User543212345 · 16/02/2016 14:25

Lucky you, clam! I'm obsessively checking the weather for next week - and it seems to change every time I look. It's either going to be bright sunshine or dumping down with snow. Eek!

lovetoskimum · 16/02/2016 16:05

Puffy, sending hugs, hoping not too bad for you, have a large glass of vino.

been watching the webcams like mad over the weekend and yesterday, lots of snow, still got 2 weeks to go !!

Finally told school ! Not sure yet if got fine but not authorised even though headmaster said enjoy the skiing !! :)

Trixy, sounds like your week was a mix bag, glad you have reserved for next year, we left les Arcs last year the start of the french hols, traffic a nightmare.

clam - glad you have got sunshine. Enjoy love it, panda eyes for me !!!

Sweary, i am obsessively checking weather and webcams, starting to pack this wekend,

Send more pics in all :)

We were told fines don't kick in until after they've had 10 unauthorised sessions (1 week). Obv it may differ from county to county.

Off to medic on the morning, see if I can get it xrayed/checked by someone who will know knees before I brave the good old nhs a and e next week. It's better, but still wobbly - no skiing for me :(
Brother in law just broke his shoulder in 3 places on the boardercross track!

From the camera footage I've seen, my kids are loons, jumping and off pisteing all over the place, I'm now counting down the days till we can leave and my heart can stop palpitating!!

puffylovett · 17/02/2016 21:16

I have no pics :(

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 19/02/2016 06:56

This time in 2 weeks I'll be heading up the slopes! I am sooooooo excited.... I may have to make a wall chart and start a countdown Grin

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 19/02/2016 07:04

Oh puffy, sorry just read your news Sad. Hope it's not too bad. My friend twisted her knee at Xmas and was in a brace, but it's slowly improving with physio. She had bounced the bones of one another and torn her ACL, but not totally taken it out.

User543212345 · 20/02/2016 19:47

puffy I hope the knee is OK! And the return journey.

I'm bouncing around like Tigger now - our taxi picks us up at 8:30 tomorrow morning. I can't wait - although the weather forecast still looks a bit miserable (though changes by the hour). I keep chanting to myself that fresh powder is better than sunshine.

I hope all you half-termers have had a great trip!

VivaVegas · 21/02/2016 08:06

Just back and had a great time, huge dump of snow last Saturday, a bit of cloud on Monday but other than that blue skies all week. DC came on leaps and bounds and nearly better than me! I enjoyed my skiing but am either getting slower or skiing with fast men and teens made it seem that way! Now to deal with the hold-alls of stinking washing!

clam · 21/02/2016 08:29

We're just back from Vars. Superb conditions there - ditto a heavy dump of snow just before we arrived and glorious sunshine all week. Perfect.

clam · 21/02/2016 08:30

Oops, just seen I've almost exactly replicated a previous post I made during the week! Blush
